I recently purchased a used copy of GT6 along with a used PS3 from Gamestop. They had a bundle for $279 US where you got a PS3 6 games under $10US and a controller. I got home I put in GT6 and it doesn't work so I took out and reset the PS3 and it working fine so I try another it works os I put GT6 back and it doesn't read it at first so I restart the PS3 and the machine freezes I tried a hard reset nothing I play with for about 15 minutes trying to get to work nothing. Meanwhile my 5 yr old son is like Dad it's not working why is it not working? I call Gamestop and tell them my situation and try to Google some fixes before I will take it back and nothing. So I fix dinner for my kids and we head out to Gamestop where it turns out that the machine they sold me doesn't read discs and to to it off the controller that came with the PS3 was a knockoff Gamestop controller. So the Gamestop employee asks me if I want to get another and tries to get me to take a backward compatible 60GB machine which I refuse because for me at this point that doesn't make sense so I end up taking a 120GB PS3. Finally I get back home and turn on the PS3 and put GT6 in and it works. I get to the Sunday Cup and finish the race and it freezes on me right about now I am starting to get a little bit upset. Turn off the machine restart GT6 and I get past the Sunday Cup 1st race .
Now on to my review let me say this while I love this game and I will play it until I wear the disc out I still have some issues with the game. To me I feel like the game structure hasn't changed much since GT1 it is sort of like playing GT 1.6. Of course they have added some nice features, have waaaaaay better graphics and more cars and etc.. but it feels the same. I think the cars handle better than GT5 and to me the graphics seem slightly better. The sounds are awful normally this isn't an issue for me because I usually turn the my music volume louder than the sound effects but since I haven't put any music on my PS3 yet I have the default volumes on. To me so far it seems like all of the cars sound the same. I think the payouts early on are too low and it seems like the paint and tires are more expensive this time around. What I do like is the new tracks, the fact they finally and the CTS-V in the game ( I am looking forward to that car), they got rid of the awful exp points thing and the paint chips are not one use only.
Like I said before I am enjoying his game but I wish they could change the game structure. I haven't tried out online yet because I won't have internet until Saturday. I am not going to complain about other issues because by now most people know about them. I think the one thing that bothers most is that this basically the same game it was 15 years ago. Once I go online I will discuss that
