Big congrats to
@Pigems and
@GT5Apex on their championship wins!
It took until the final race of the season for me and
@GT5Apex to have an extended on track battle. Lasted over half the race with us being around 2 seconds apart during this time.
I was on 'pole' for the AM drivers, but not by much.
First few laps were pretty mental and I noticed some PRO drivers in the mix, but when it levelled out a bit,
@GT5Apex was behind me, with
@MaxAttack in front of by a few secords in front.
@Adam Barber had broke free of the AM pack.
On one of the early laps @GT4Apex went for the pass at turn 6 (hairpin) on the inside. I wasn't expecting it as thought he was maybe a little too far back. Unfortunetly, when I turned back to the apex, I tapped him into a spin. (Sorry about that!). He was about 6 seconds behind and I was 3 seconds behind
@MaxAttack after this.
@MaxAttack put up a stern defence of his position with a great repass of me into Turn 1. This battle allowed
@GT5Apex to catch up a bit, but I was able to pass
@MaxAttack before the pitstops, as did
@GT5Apex.
At the pit stops,
@GT5Apex was right behind me. We both had the same amout of fuel left. Straight fight to the end! I can't remember where he got past me, but he did, and then I tried to keep close. He was quicker in some corners. I was quicker in others. At a couple of points I was less than a second behind, but I was never really in the position to make a pass.
His pass got him the AM title - had I finished in front we would have tied and
@El_Beardo would have been doing a wins count back (which is 4-2 to
@GT5Apex).
For me, an excellent race to finish the season on.
Thanks to
@El_Beardo for his time and efforts hosting another good quality championship.
