First Gran Turismo Sport Live Event of 2019 Set for Paris March 14–18

The TBD category is the "X2014 Competition" on our drivers document, its not Super Formula.

If I were to take a guess, that probably means they are releasing the version of the X2014 with the Nations Cup liveries and the lower performance that they used in last years events as an actual car in game.

Also, what a legendary typo:

The Rapechage sure does look exciting!

I’m lookinging forward to watching that race at Fisherman’s Ranch. I always felt that Gr.B and the dirt tracks had some serious potential for expansion, especially with all the actual Group B rally cars seen in prior GT games. And the fact that if they add more historic Group B rally cars, we could see Gr.B include automakers like Ferrari, Porsche, and even Daihatsu.

45 x tyre wear!! What is the point of that? So you come round on the second lap and you're supposed to guess your braking points because the tyres have x 45 wear from the last lap! PD drop the silly tyre wear and just let the fastest players race!

If Polyphony decided on those combinations after the Drivers Summit in Amsterdam then it is 100% confirmed they couldn't give a damn what anyone thinks

Starting to think the best thing for the competitive side of things for the future is events being run by a third party, who care primarily about the competition itself and not focusing on trying to show off as much 'stuff' in the shortest possible time. I'm sure there'll also be the same stasi like approach to anyone who represents a team. Literally every other game in the world recognises their importance in the development of top players and commercial opportunities, but this is PD

It gets worse. It hasn't been said on the page, but apparently they're still keeping the random car draw in place for the semi-final rounds. It's almost as if PD actually know what a good format is, but intentionally do the opposite.

Calling it now, Fisherman's Ranch will be a disaster. The World Rallycross final wasn't clean, not a chance that a "rally" race that's never been tested online will be.

Also, some of those players from Asia/Oceania can hotlap but have absolutely no racecraft.

That would be quite strange since the other X2014s are Gr.X, not gonna lie...

Where did I imply the X2014 Competition wouldn't be Gr.X? (X2014 Competition is the name of the vehicle in case there's confusion)

For some reason I was thinking the TBD category implied it would be a new group entirely...

I guess I got confused then, thanks for the clarification.

Tried the N combos with x30 tyre wear and 50% more laps. It's already just plain stupid like this, can't imagine how dumb this will be in the live event, especially with cars randomly attributed. Honestly if the other world tours this year keep going on with the same format, I will probably stop trying hard the FIAs.

Basically, @Tidgney's wish for a Gr.B repechage (or RAPEchage) at Fisherman's Ranch came true...

Oh and 45X TYRE WEAR?!?!?! PD, everyone couldn't just drive as smooth as Akagi or Coque, or even experienced drivers of manufacturers with sketchy tyre wear rates! At least it's Sports Tyres, which with that amount of wear would be at around X13-X16 wear on Race Tyres.

A perfect idea is that PD could just either partner up with an experienced e-Sports organizer or just give up on e-Sports and hand it over to FIA themselves! Or maybe get the community involved in choosing the combos and its settings, INCLUDING Tyre Wear and Fuel Consumption rates!

Wait - are you saying in essence thst they have the framework for shuffle racing but they're only implementing it in the tour finals?

Nah, x45 tyre wear on Sports tyres will be worse than the FIA rates on race tyres we got this season. 5 laps on Sports Mediums at x30 and I had a completely red tyre. In the actual event, I expect some people to have completely red tyres after 2 laps. You can see the tyre wear gauge melting in corners. If someone gives you a lovetap on the rear fender, I can see your tyres losing something like 15% of their life in a single corner.

Nope, they just do a manual draw with little papers before the race.

Seriously, we already have the compounds. Tyre wear should be track specific. Abrasive, smooth, or a simple high degradation, medium degradation, low degradation surface warning. No need to SEE the multiplier.

Seeing it is important, as not many people have several hours of warmup to figure it out before events, like in real life.

45x just means it wears faster than 1x. I don't thionk players need to SEE 1x or 45x. If it reads "high degradation", you know tyres will wear fast. For the sake of space in the info, why then have 1-10x in the game and 1-45x in the FIA races? Just label it 10x.

I really don't understand your point. Tyre wear multiplier is a critical piece of information, of course players would want to know this - especially when the wear is 4.5x higher than what is considered high degradation by sport mode standards.

My point is simple. Replacing the numbers with words. Why make an extreme, by this game's standards, number of 45? Even if it were 85? Just declare the track a high degradation surface. I'm not relating it to real life. Why do players need to know the number? The words are just as important as a number.

Save tyre wear and fuel use for the real world...we race online where it's always dry, there's no mechanical breakdowns, and the skill of the player is the most important thing. I've said it before and I'll say it again, why bring the fastest players in the world to an event and then handicap them? At least give them one race with no tyre or fuel wear, make it a one make and just let them race!

That's still real world sprint racing, with no pit stops. I'd be all for your idea though. I guess it's all part of not having a race engineer and pit crew. The player is all in one and has to make those calls.

Because obviously the wear multiplier is exactly 45 times higher than default? And by extension you would estimate your tyres to last 1/45th of the distance?

So, make it Tyre wear: 43x, 44x or 46x. Tyre wear: High, medium, low. How many players need hours of practice to determine that tyre wear? I'd wager more strategy is involved, if it were words over numbers.
