First in game look at "standard" cars in Granturismo 6

I finally want to drive the car without feeling like a goof because it looks weird. I'm glad it has been improved so well.

Ruf that is.
I feel the same way. In GT5 I never drove standards just cause they looked so terrible. They look good enough now I think I'll actually buy and take some photos of them. At least the wheel arches and body lines seem smoother/cleaner.

Some look improved, some do not. I'm still on the fence on whether or not they should've bothered; they still look far worse than the Premos, but spending time updating dead assets is still a waste of time, IMO. At least, I hope this is the last game we see the Standards in...

Well yeah, I've already stated loudly which look horrid and that this is still more of the same from GT5, some have been given respective touch ups and others seemed to be allowed through with out the same quality. I agree that many of them are dead assets but not all. And I too hope that this is the last game, if it means we drop to half the number of cars for the next gen to make it happen, then they should do so.

How do we know the time not spent on standards would go to "useful" things? They might have just worked a slower pace as the bar might not have been set as high. History has proven this to me numerous times. Though I expect standards will appear in game as we see them now, I believe it is best to wait till launch date to judge whether its a full waste of time. I personally agree though...

I drove them rarely too. Only when I was forced to use one for or an event or when I really, really liked a car that was s only available as a standard, like the Ford GT40.

However, to be honest I'd rather have only 300 cars that are all premium (would still be twice as much as in GT3), than having 1000 cars of wich most are of lesser quality. But I might change my opinion after playing GT6.

Yup, just as I speculated; some of the standards have gone through some decent reworks while others have only received minor touches. With that said, I'm contempt with them.

All standard versions of cars that are already premium are gone now.
Ok, so what is that, 7 cars?
And there isn't previous Gen NASCARs, which is another 20 or so.

IF They're advertising 1200 cars at launch, expect 35 new cars from the Ascari Launch party... Maybe They are hidden and the DLC patch unlocks them.

No no , they have found secret cars not on the list , notably another M3 race car and the NE LFA.

I knew about the LFA, didn't notice the BMW.

But still- if they don't have 1200 cars by the end of December 6th... They can be sued for false advertising, right?

Have to remember, though, that just because a car is in the game and counts towards the 1200, doesn't mean it sits i na dealership waiting to be purchased. They have plenty of ways to lockk out content that they have been using since GT1.

Then how come there's two M5s? There's also a lot of other duplicates if I remember correctly.
I believe the two M5s are different model years. Whereas to some that would be considered the same car, technically its not. Therefor the standard and premium are technically different...unfortunately.

The fact you can now use standards in photo mode means they must have cleaned them up, the E-Type looks great, nice smooth arches etc. It was such a shame in GT5 because the standards looked great on track but few could stand up to any close scrutiny ( the countach was not too bad ) I'm really looking forward to GT6, I love racing but more than anything I love looking at cars and that's what makes the GT series so unique, it celebrates the beauty of cars. Forza have tried to go that way but its a shallow experience next to GT, in fact my friend is a Forza fan, he never bothers with the replay ( which I don't understand at all ) and when playing Forza myself I was always disappointed with the replay, no changing camera angles like in GT which is a shame, I quite enjoyed Forza 3 which was a stop gap whilst waiting for GT5, 7 days to go, can't wait :)
