Dont say this here, you get into "trouble" and be called GT fanboy, biased, etc etc LOL
And anyways somebody will start that typical BS (Vaxxtx - Looks better than GT5's. I am happy - )
Never ending story, never ending biased posts

What's wrong with the quote "Looks better thatn GT5'" by Vaxxtx? It's his opinion just as yours are.

As for "biased posts", everyone is biased based on their preferences. I don't like GT5, it is boring and seems directed at the more immature - collecting racing suites/helmets, museum cards, paint chips, horns, etc.. BUT, hear me, it is only "my" opinion. My "opinion" is completely correct because it is "my" opinion. I won't call you GT5 bias as that is your "opinion" - it is what "you" (and many others) like in a virtual racing "game".

This is a Forza subforum where some of us are excited about the release of a new racing sim. I have a PS3, 360, and an PC for my virtual racing fixes. I am biased based on what I am looking for a a racing sim. I don't even go to the GT5 forums especially to post my preferences.

I looking forward for the Forza 4 release, everything I am seeing looks very promising. It doesn't have to be "perfect" but provide an emersive virtual racing experience.

I am also picking up F1 2011 but for the PS3 because of friends that will be on that platform.

The track elevation seems to be very subtle compared to GT5, especially the corkscrew part.

Besides taking my quote out of context, I sure do have a right to my opinion. Also my post was in response to JDMKING. I said it looks better than GT5,s version. Then I put a PERIOD (.) then I said I am happy. I am happy the track looks good.

Dont try to twist something.

👍

Some people have hard time if you dont share their point of view. At least some people here can appricate other views, even if they are not shared.

Am I the only one who has driven the track in FM3, GT5, Iracing, Rfactor etc regularly and still doesn't notice any big differences in the track models?

I honestly can't say I do unless I start to analyse it microscopically.

I agree... they all look fine to me and perfectly suited to accomplish the intended purpose. The subject of this thread was "First look..." and I assume posted by someone looking forward to the FM4 release. Why some had to start picking it apart is beyond me.

I had played that track regularly in Shift2, GT5, FM3, and to be honest, I dont notice too much REAL difference until its time to nitpick. Then sure.

Fanboys war. Never change

On topic: There's something in the track than looks off (is not the accurate), also motion blur seems to be exaggerated, I rather the FM3 looks for some reason

When comparing it to the footage of real races, it seems that Forza's Laguna Seca is pretty much spot on in FM4.

But if it differs from GT5, than it must be inacurate, because PD is 100% impeccable at all times, no?
I think you've pretty much nailed it. In GT3, I remember people pointing out inaccuracies around the corkscrew & then again in GT4 even though PD cleaned it up a bit. And with it being a carry over from GT4, it doesn't surprise me that it would still have some inaccuracies in #5.

I just don't think it's a track PD has ever spent as much time on as they have with others.

Thanks. Personally, I think the FM3 version is better. Darker and less shiny than FM4. At least, however, they completely remodeled this track unlike Road America where they just ran it through FM4's engine. (If you compare the FM3 and FM4 Road America, you'll notice the clouds are exactly the same. Whereas, with Laguna Seca, they're different."

The tarmac seems a bit brighter (probably due to the high exposure), but aside from that, I think the FM4 versions looks splendid. Especially the trackside stuff seems much better.

Overall, I think there is quite a bit of progress on display here.

I thought the labels where the wrong way round at first! FM4 didn't look as good on the vid, but I'll wait until the game is on my screen to properly judge it.

I'm not expecting too much from the graphics though, they were good in FM3 and will have evolved slightly at most. What I am excited about is the feel of he game without assists and with the new career. I never liked the 'pick a race from a list and go' approach. GT was always better at this (for me) until 5 in that regard. The world tour should make the process more involving, visually at least.

Not true. In fact they fixed a few of the turns in Road America as well. The last turn was the worst offender as it was too sharp. They addressed that on FM4 thankfully.

Just watched the ALMS 6 hour race @ MRLS. Looks pretty close to the real thing. Corkscrew might be a tad shallower than RL. But that might due to the RL vibration and camera placement/issues.

I think they are using a bit more of a fish-eye lens effect in Forza 4 to help increase the impression of speed - i think it is this that looks 'off' to you.

Personally i prefer it, you get greater peripheral vision from it which is more realistic and from a greater periphery comes a greater sense of speed

Agreed but that comparison made allot of other things look off. Coloring is a big one. The track is much more marked up on the FM4 version and that track glare is way over done. We'll see how it looks when its actually on our TV's though.

I agree on this one. But I'm still satisfied that the overall thing looks much more natural than in FM3. I think that every single game before NFS Shift depicted Laguna Seca on the afternoon with a brown track. I'm glad they got rid of this time of day, I litterally felt sick of it.

Did they? I noticed other changes but oddly forgot to look for the one that bugged me the most. I'll have to watch the FM4 footage again. If so this is good news, I hated that corner in FM3, it was to tight like you say and the fact it seemed excessively off-camber compounded the problem even more. I searched a ton of RL footage and could never find any that made that corner look that difficult. On the other hand, it did feel quite good getting the best run down the straight on the rare occasion I could actually pull it off.

Strangely that glare is worse in the car....photomode seems to dull it down a bit.

Forza seems quite accurate except for the cork screw. It's far too elongated and there's no drop. If you've played iracing, GT pretty much has the corkscrew bang on.
