I just picked up my copy and I am installing now. Considering I did not play Shift 2 I am very eager and optimistic about this release. Being a GT fans for many years since the first installment, I went outside the franchise to get what I feel advancements in console racing should bring.

My question to you all is what are your first impressions the first 1 hour you played Shift 2. What are your thoughts after 6hrs-24hrs and why do they differ from hour 1. I plan to come back here after I have played for at least 1 full day to comment and view all the other threads as well.

To all the old school GT fans, I hope we get what we wanted out of this title compared to you know who. Now we can judge the game for ourselves and not prejudge videos and articles. Let the fun begin.

Quick post ur review pls as we Gt fan really want to know can this game reach 70% of gt5 physic if can I will fly to a store n get one. Currently I am very very impressed with the graphic shown on YouTube. Tks.

The graphics shown on YouTube vids that promote this game ARE NOT the PS3 version. The majority of those vids show the PC version with great graphics.

Be warned folks.., the PS3 version has gotten shafted again in the graphics. The PS3 version is only 720p!!!!

From the PS3 version:

Looks pretty good to me. Obviously not as good as PC, but if you expected those two versions to look the same I'm not sure what to tell you.

Alright. I have been playing for about 2 hours. Overall, I'll say its pretty damn good.

A few things to point out. Wheel users. Its a little loose in the evaluation race and the first race after that so don't get pissy, lol. The wheel takes some setup that's for sure. Running a basic car with stock tires was a task. I adjusted the tire pressure only and Wa la. Instant improvement. To me it feels pretty good. Its at least 80-90% GT physics so far in my opinion. I can only imagine with more upgrades how it will handle. I am sure I am starting to get a handle on the physics too but still, its handling nicely.

The limited version is the version to go for. If you all watched the one clip with the 7 or so categories to race in, that only means that there are 2-4 different branches in those categories. Not 2-4 races. In each branch, there is alot more races. From the looks of it, this game is loaded with events. In my first 2 hrs I am satisfied thus far.

Nice touches:
-the evaluation races is like a one time license test. you can retry as many times as you like. but it is to recommend settings for you and you can change them if you disagree.
-The sun actually glares in your eyes. I was coming around a corner and the sun beamed in my eyes. I have never seen this in a game. Very nice.
-helmet cam is nice but it throws me off. I am a hood driver anyways.
-graphics are great. very sharp and crisp if you have a lcd tv
-true upgrade prices. prices are great in comparison to GT's over exaggerated prices. huge plus.

I'll be back later when I take a break.

Do you even have the game yet. What kind of tv do you have. I am sure xbox runs 720p as well. With all thats going on in the environment 720 is better than 1080. Have you paid attention to the graphical limitations in GT5. The graphic are looking very nice on my PS3.

If it was 1080p you would of had to put up with poor framerate, awful awful shadows and screen tearing.

anyone who have a wheel should give the supra a try, best handling car in stock form imo (not between cars, but in terms of realism level)

Fantastic, dam it we need to wait until Friday 👎

Hi, was wondering about the limited edition copy. When we buy in store on Friday will it be the limited edition copy. I live in the UK and particularly want the LE copy of the game for the extra content.

Anybody in the UK know about this???

The first shipment or two are probably limited edition. That is the only version available. I wouldn't be surprised if the intend is to just sell more my having L.E. on it or not but either way, its still regular price as any other new ps3/xbox game. Its actually a still. On the psn there are 3 dlc packs.
1) the 5 fastest cars in the game are locked
2 & 3 I don't remember exactly but they unlock tracks/car. One does everything.

Other than the 3 you get with the game already, I want to earn the rest of my cars but I was just looking to see if they had new tracks/cars already.

Hi,

can you buy different tires? Sports, soft and so on...GT5 style? Driving on sports on GT5 for me is worst feel ever until i put on racingtires. So if its like that perhaps its the tires too?

Oh man, where do I start?

I'll cut to the chase and just state some facts:
-Shift 2 Unleashed is NOT a sim racer.
-Steering is TERRIBLE
-The game is waay too confusing. Shift 1 got it right with the menu, nice and simple
-I like going through the menu with a controller and driving with a wheel but I can't do that. I have to keep switching controller slots between the wheel and the controller.

I've only played about 20 minutes of it so far. I know it will get better but so far, the game just blew it's first impression.

Well in Australia the only version available on release is the LE so as long as you pick it up within the first week thats all you can get (like Crysis 2 was here). A few weeks down the line the standard will also appear.

I've been playing for 2 hours and I can say that I like it a lot.

I'm playing on the PS3 with a G27. Like many said, the wheel needs to be adjusted for sure (look up AWD's settings, it's a good starting point I think).

After the wheel as been tweaked, I think the feel is a mix between GRID and GT5.

The intensity is great, you really feel like you are in a race. It doesn't feel like a grind like GT5 does : license, boring race...license, boring race...special event -> "racing" a Volks on the Top Gear track...yawn...

If you are on the fence and you have a wheel, I don't see why you can't give this game a go. Don't let the first race influence you, do it and tweak the settings after that.

Yep, first race feels like you are on ICE! After that, you actually start driving on the asphalt (after slight tweaks to settings).

This seems to be the general opinion. The first race blows, but once you tweak the settings it's actually pretty good. Not GT5 good, but good enough that people without neckbeards will find it fun.

Personally, from the 1.5 hours I've had it....I like it. Still need to tweak the settings for the wheel a bit, but....this is a very large step forward from Shift 1, and it is a hell of a lot of fun to drive.

Does anyone owned Shift 1 and Shift 2? If so, please do share what you get in shift 2 if you've played shift 1? Cause on the manual, it says that theres a "surprise" for those who played shift 1.. Answer greatly appreciated! ^^
