FITT-Hot Hatch Tuning Challenge - Final Results are in!

I think I'll enter this time as a test driver as I'm clueless when it comes to tuning FF or driving one. I might actually find a tune, or two, that'll make me want to drive FF more. I don't own a single FF car in my garage so this might be an eye opener.

Might be wise to get some practice, less you be cursing the understeer .

Seriously though there are some really good cars, and a lot of fun cars with FF. They start to get tricky around 500pp IMO.

I'm sure there will be something to convert you here. 👍

:tup:Testers are always welcomed, since you don't care for FF, atleast testing should be consistent. Spec and Hot Hatch should be an eye opener, Pro-Spec would throw downforce into the mix. Feel free to do any or as many as you would like:)

Got the garden work done as I could so finished the tunes I think.
Scirocco R '10 FITT tune This tune is set up to brake early and drive it hard through the corners you can stand on the gas, get the entry right and you sail. TLOR is built into the tune so if you find your self drifting out to much let off the gas to rotate the front around just be ready to get back on fast to stop the rotation.

Scirocco GT24 Base Model '08 FITT Tune This is my first go at a minimum required down force on a Race car, so if it seems a bit lose go faster
This one likes to spin the tires the gearing is set up to reduce the spin, shift point in second is best judged on speed and not rpm, other wise 7k shift point is the best option. Brake mid late and power the corners. TLOR is not as noticeable in this set up but still usable if you need a tad bit more rotation.

I haven't been able to get laps in since early this week. :( I'm trying to make it work but now I'm waffling on car choice. :dunce: Someone make up my mind!

Okay, I have to admit tuning and driving FFs is not my strong suit. I had a hell of a time breaking out of the 1:39 range, finally pulling off a 1:38.63. I'm hoping one of you GT cyborgs can do better. :ouch:

What if they are both slow? :D

I think I am a better driver than a tuner...which is bad news for my tuning skills. :embarrassed:
Easy tune? Mini either year.
Fast any? VW. They where constantly the fastest in my testing but the hardest to tune. The mini was stable easy to tune and respectfully fast.

I went garage diving and found my baby again. :D I am turning 1'37-38s and I'm not even any good at the track. Might even be capable of low 36s in the right hands. This is so much better than the other cars I was trying to tune I had to go check that I had the right tires and aids turned off.

Notes :

I chose this Seat as it's rarely tuned and used :) It's in Pink with retro wheels so it will easily make other drivers distracted and the job of winning the race easier

I used different route for this build, the car was tuned at 450PP originally, for 470PP, I used lightweight approach, with less than 1000kg and maximizing HP within PP limit. I do not use ride height difference in this tune, and I focused on other parts of suspension to improve the car handling balance.

Suspension is stiff, as I felt the car has excessive body roll even with body rigidity improvement. The real Cupra often cited to have excessive body roll even with quite stiff KW V1 coilover kit. I settled for 10k/6k springs, damper and ARB has been tuned for responsive handling with good turn in under trail braking.
For LSD, I used 1 way, with medium preload and high locking rate to ensure maximum traction on low/medium speed exits.

Brake as minimum as possible on medium speed corners, the car can carry lots of speed through some of the corners, never afraid to go faster, just make sure to point at the right direction with good weight transfer :D For tight turns, the car can also brake very late, shift down quickly to help with turn in.

I tuned and tested at Tsukuba and Brands Hatch GP. The car is not very quick compared to my other Japanese FF cars, a 450PP J's Racing FIT Turbo RS can beat this 470PP Cupra in lap times at Tsukuba ( both on comfort soft ), and my TODA Racing Civic Type R 450PP eats both for breakfast with 1:04s lap on comfort soft.
The Ibiza Cupra can lap Brands Hatch GP on SH tires consistently in low/flat 1:39s. My best was 1:38s with 20.1s 1st sector, low/flat 35s 2nd sector and 1:14s last sector. If you have flat 20s 1st sector and 1:14s last sector, you are doing extremely good :D:tup:

Notes :

This MiTo is build by adapting the parts used on Autodelta 147 GTA :) So, in a way it's an AutoDelta MitO.

Suspension uses coilover kit adapted from Autodelta 147 GTA Sportsline Corse Coilover Kit, it's stiff but very capable on twisty circuit. Damper and ARB is tuned for stability and nimble handing. No ride height difference in this build.

LSD also used Autodelta 147 GTA, with high preload and progressive low locking ratio for street tire.

I really like driving this car, with about 30 minutes tuning, I spent considerable more time just driving it at Autumn Ring, it's addicting :P

The car can easily do 1:34s lap, with my best at low/mid 1:33s and the car should be able to do 1:32s, 1st sector should be in 31s with a good run 👍

Good morning! Currently just before 8:00am here on the east coast (EST), please have all tunes submitted today by midnight tonight. Basically any tune submitted by the time I check my computer 24hrs from now will be excepted, with the exception of @Motor City Hami who was given and extension.

@oppositelock and @DigitalBaka, welcome to the party:tup: Hot Hatch Series gonna be fun and crowded!:D:gtpflag:

@oppositelock Can you list Rim and size please? Also, power limiter and ballast not used?

So I've loaded up on credits doing the red bull challenge and am getting the hot hatch tunes set up to do testing for that series too. I had trouble getting these cars rotating how I wanted while still maintaining grip and not having my transmission stuttering all the time. I'm hoping testing will help me figure some of that out. Maybe then I can fine tune my VW Golf to keep up with that Scirroco

Ok, I'm building tunes for possible testing of the Hot Hatch series and here is what I'm finding:

@backnfourth noted your changes, thank you as trans wasn't working.
Since your building cars, are you finding the same issues?

@shaunm80 @brian wolf @Ridox2JZGTE can you check your trans settings as I cannot get them to work.
@xande1959 trans top speed 180kpm? Lowest setting as I have MPH.
@oppositelock cannot get 5th and 6th gear to match.

@HTR Tuning so sorry you won't be able to join us, next time I hope:(

For the Cupra ( Hot Hatch ), be sure to install all power upgrade parts first, choose stock transmission then full custom to reset it, then adjust final to 3.450, move top speed to left most ( minimum ), then adjust each gear ( 1st and 2nd gear should only need to move one value to the right ), then set the final to 2.525 :)

Let me know how it goes
