Five Things We're Looking Forward to in Gran Turismo Sport

This is the discussion thread for a recent post on GTPlanet:
This article was published by Kyle Patrick (@SlipZtrEm) on October 16th, 2017 in the Gran Turismo Sport category.

I think you forgot the most important thing, which is simply driving (either racing or hotlapping). After playing the demo I don't think any previous itteration - and I've been playing since GT3 - ever felt this good.

Also, for a game with such emphasis on the online aspect, GTS's got the best AI ever and custom races will definitely be a major part of my game time.
Can't wait!

Have you tried the GTE version in PC2 at Sarthe? It's amazing to say the least.
The biggest reason I'm disappointed that it isn't appearing is I won't get to recreate the one from the GT4 intro..

I have and I am still not a fan of it. I spend my time in the Aston Martin Vantage GTE. BUT, I agree with you on that it would be cool to make that livery from GT4 on the new GT. I guess that is just a missed opportunity on Gran Turismos part.

Not really. I couldn’t care less about Ferraris and Lambos and those euro hypercars. I’m a JDM guy! ;)
I thought about that and mentioned Supra. Toyota Supra MK4 is really iconic car, in my opinion one of 10-Top JDM cars, it is preatty. And do not about Rx7, 240sx, skyline r34, and nsx. I am 50 percent JDM too

Yeah it kinda is :)
I just hope we get FuguZ in GTS and don’t have to wait for GTS2 or whatever the next game will be called. I want to drive my car (almost, since I have the 260Z) :)

From what I understand Gt sport is a new era.. From 1 to 6 is the first era so in fact gt sport is gt7 and because of the new era you can call it gt 2.1
No proloog at all.
Kaz tried to explain this for over a year now and still lots of people don't get it.

You need to as Santa for it, I think that he add the FuguZ faster than the GT development team:lol::lol::sly::P:P

Kaz confirmed GTS will have more features than any other GT in the past and on launch, do you believe that? If GTS doesn't well then you better believe GT7 happens.

Kaz stated that he believes that GT Sport is GT7:

“For me, Gran Turismo Sport is Gran Turismo 7. Gran Turismo Sport is something that marks the beginning of a new generation or era. When you consider Gran Turismo 1-6 as the first era, GT Sport marks a new generation moving forward.”

I, myself, am a fan of the 'older' cars, like the RX7 (Bathurst), the 240 and 260Z's, the 1973 Toyota Corolla, the old Camaro's and Dodge's etc...
But, what I really want in GT Sport are the two Lotus Elise's (the race modified ones from GT6), the 1965 Mustang, the 1971 Mustang and ---- the Honda HSV-010! The liveries for these would be endless and very, very cool...!

I NEED Tsukuba and Spa.... Then I will be a happy chappie. Hopefully this will come as DLC.
What? They haven't added Spa already... What happend with them?? I think that they did not forget about Nurburgring. Because if it is, it will be a massive hearts attack for every GT lovers

Nopes, unfortunately no Spa on the track list on release date. Quite disappointed about this. It's one of my favourite tracks to hotlap. I can spend hours just driving different cars at this location.
The Nords is included with different layouts.

Cool and this is my favourite track to drive. We don't need to be nevrous, I think that they will add track after presentation

my absolute top priority point in gt sport is the ability to earn cash and exp on races i want to race! like with no rolling start and at sunset on the track i want against cars of the same class.

in gt5 for example i had to race endless laps in rome using a ferrari to earn cash and to have fun i just could drive on the random toscana track versus strange cars (like using a gt3 u had to race against grp C, future cars and some super gt) because i wanted to drive at sunset.

to me thats much more worth than a "campaign", especially since we got pre set races in the missions.

What you mean, and do not heard about this. I thought that the GTSport, it is a GT7.

Yeah, I think that we have a little bit the same wish. More classic cars: Lambos, Ferraris, Supras, Morgans, Supras, and Minis..:dopey: I think we need to send a formal letter about that issue, he need to solve it. As fast as he can:drool:

I'm calling it! I bet you the new supra is in the game after it gets revealed and I bet the old supra will be next to it!

That's not really my point. My point is he is and does say what he thinks GT fans want or need to hear, in order to sell copies. What is the next game going to be called? GT sport 2? What if this model flops, Gran Turismo 8?

He has said many things which have not been true. And one of those things will be untrue again this week, unless the game suddenly has a course maker, speed test feature, shuffle racing and whatever else GT has had in the past.

What I think GT Sport needs is a bunch of DLC updates. More cars and tracks are definitely needed and wanted... Polyphony spent quite a lot of time re-rendering tracks and cars for GT6, but they seem to have no 'apparent' use with GT Sport any longer! So, Polyphony, bring back Spa, Midfield, Autumn Ring, Cape Ring, Route X (with that gnarly looking add-on!) and Apricot Hill. Then re-render Deep Forest, Trial Mountain, High Speed Ring and a few others and bring them back, too!

Take your time with the cars, though - we don't want pixelated jalopies roaming the nice 'SCAPES' and tracks!

Oval racing twice? Geez, I woulda put it down all 5 times!

You guys left out current gen graphics. GT6 was fine as a PS3 game but it paled in comparison to Forza 5, which was released a month before it. We finally have a GT game that has current gen graphics. Better late than never.

Having played the demo last week, I can confirm the bolded car is in. Not sure your other personal wishes are guaranteed though.

Funny thing is, you can easily avoid all of that so..

These are the 5 things to be exited about?

- Photo Mode and Scapes
-> Gimmick, nice to have, but wouldn't miss it, can take screenshots and videos from PS4 if i want

- Driver Rating System
-> Hope it will work, else the Online racing / game might not for me

- Esports All of the Things
-> My best TT was a 154th place, not much racing experience, so how interesting will this be for me and the thousands that are even slower? Taking part, losing in first round and experience over? Watching Videos and Articles about others driving? A Youtube channel could achieve the same!

- Porsche, Porsche, Porsche
-> Will there be 3 Porsche? Just joking, this is something to look forward to, hopefully they are simulated a little bit realistic!

- Livery Editor
-> Gimmick, nice to have, but wouldn't miss it, having a '63 Corvette would be more fun than Livery on a VGT fantasy car

I am looking forward to the Patches and DLCs which hopefully bring interesting additional cars, many more tracks, Clubs instead of Lobbies only and of course real Seasonals with TTs and races against an improved AI (only if there is no more rabbit chasing!).
And, as a minor improvement showing the personal rank in the world on the many leaderboards throughout the game. How interesting is it - again - for the average Joe to see the Top10 only without knowing what your own rank is if you are not in. (Example: On day 2 of the demo i was 9th in the 8th driving lesson, for a short time only, don't know where i ended up - #1 on my FL at least) Having said that, the Friendlist leaderboards are nice, hopefully my friends will take the many strange lessons and missions serious.

My opinion

Edit: Regarding all those graphics comments, and which game is better, which is worse, i personally don't have time to enjoy the scenery very much during racing, it's all just a blur.
Graphics are nice though, but PCars 2 or even GT6 on PS3 are just good enough for me!

I've actually been busy downloading .svg files of various brand logos in anticipation of the Livery Editor. The prospect of creating my own racing liveries again has got me salivating.

Hey RUI, I'm glad that you named it: It's all about driving. It's that simple. And I'm surprised that - especially in this forum - you're the only person who thought about this in first place...

Do you guys remember the GT Academy Demo that came out shortly before the release of GT6? You had to drive on Silverstone with a Nissan 370Z and a Nissan GT-R if I remember correctly.

After a great GT4, GT5 was kind of a disappointment to me in regards to its driving physics. So when I started up that demo on my PS3 and plugged in my good old Logitech GT Force Pro, I thought "Wow! That feels... just fantastic! It's strong, it's tight and you really get an idea of the car's weight." After playing that, I was full of anticipation for the all new GT6 - and then it came out and I was "Meeeh - that's more of a mix between GT5 and that recent demo, but it definitely doesn't measure up to my high expectations."

Now, after playing the GT Sport BETA and the "demo" recently (actually it was a second BETA), I can say that this game finally does satisfy my expectations I had for its predecessor. It brings the same feel of that demo back then: strong, tight and you really get a feeling of the car's weight. And, in contrast to all other racing games I played with my new T300rs, you can catch your car when its slippy ass is going to overtake you. Assetto couldn't and Project Cars couldn't either, only PC2 was much better recently. But if a car's tail goes crazy in there, in most cases you don't have any change to get it back in line. That's not the case in GT Sport and that's a good thing! :-)

I, myself, am a fan of the 'older' cars, like the RX7 (Bathurst), the 240 and 260Z's, the 1973 Toyota Corolla, the old Camaro's and Dodge's etc...

Yes, I like to drive those old cars as well, but I also can understand that most racing fans are getting tired of those low speed dinosaurs quite fast... But, if you deactivate all driving aids - except ABS perhaps, for mollycoddles like me :-P - these would become very interesting races as well. And I'm pretty sure that some of those classic cars will be added in future DLCs. And old GT classic circuits as well. Period! ;-)

Does nobody on here love Laguna seca, not one mention of it. You can't beat perfectly taking the corkscrew, I'm going to miss it if they don't give us it back.

I shall send you a kiss from one of my best friends who's got Laguna Seca as a tattoo on his arm.

More circuits I really would love are Trial Mountain, Deep Forest and that Yosemite Park one from GT4. I really loved it. But hey, we now have Bathurst, that's another wonderful track IMO.
