Still thinking about getting a PC just to play this in VR. Which GPU do you have and what are you getting out of it.
Flight Sim ‘24 is heavily rumoured to be coming to PS5. That’s not to say there will be a PSVR2 version - but it’s worth holding out to see what the plans are.

I can’t even begin to imagine how it would’ve performed on a Xbox One.. 🙈
Does fine on the XSX (actually looks better than my PC, although my PC seems to run a little cleaner and has more/better inputs of course) but yeah, especially the OG X1, yeesh....

Can't wait. Hopefully, they can improve the menus this time so they don't feel like the game is on the verge of crashing at all times.

PSA: If anyone needs to speak to @Pearl Jam , you've got till 18 November.
After that, he's busy for the next million years...

😂😂 yeah I’m pretty excited but having said that, I’m still loving this version a lot , I’ll also be in Thailand when it gets released so something to look forward to on the miserable flight home.
Might treat myself to a new headset too, the Pimax Crystal light looks fantastic👍

So the new one has been released and it looks like a complete train wreck of a launch.. and this folks, is why I’ll never preorder anything, not even for the Sim I’ve spent hours in surpassing even my beloved Driveclub, as noted in the post above this one I’m in Thailand right now and for the next couple of weeks so hopefully is good to go when I get back to the UK

I didn't even tried to start it and wasting time (myself beeing one of those preorder i***ts) but "only" used my rewards-points to pay for it. Price will be stable for a while like FS2020 so no rush and I would've paid it later anyway. We'll see if we get some compensation after they fixed their servers.

I've installed it through Game Pass, so it was a no-brainer.

Having said that, I wasn't able to even start it on the 19th and yesterday it was a jerky mess.

Yeah same here, probably won't even bother with it now for about a month until some of the initial issues are sorted out.

I'm going to stick to '20. What does '24 have or do that '20 doesn't?
A career with different missions like rescuing etc., hot air balloons and airships, improved Physics, lighting, clouds, trees, cars, ships and much better ground textures, seasons, more diverse wildlife, and being able to leave your plane anywhere after landing (which can be pretty cool, tried it yesterday myself).

Thanks for that but none of that is grabbing me.

I'm playing in VR now using the PSVR2 and it is a game changer especially in the low n slow VFR flying that I tend to do. I thought it might be annoying not being able to use the keyboard controls, but I realise I don't use keys that often, and being able look for a switch in the cockpit and use it via the mouse is so much better and easier anyway. My landings seem to smoother too.

I feel quite excited about this game but I'm not going to buy it until the bugs are sorted out. This is my new rule when it comes to buying games. As far as I'm concerned, if its not in a decent playable state, its not out yet.

I like the additions they've made, the career/story mode, the new planes, I like everything I can see about it, except that the game doesn't really work, minor detail.

I had my first 5-6 hour session on Sunday evening without fundamental problems or any crash.
Only one career mission had my passenger stuck standing in the middle of my left wing attached to his hips and he was constantly walking from start to landing while my ingame pilot character sat in the luggage compartment with the head sticking out on top over the plane but that didn't affect the flight and the passenger was very pleased by the views on to his hometown and I passed the mission on A

Hey guys. Trying to get into 24 after loving 20, but the game isn't making things easy for me.

I can't play the first mission. The guy I'm supposed to take on a roundtrip is stuck in my left wing, I'm stuck on the backseat and the engine switches off as soon as the mission starts and can't be turned back on again.

Anybody encountered this? Is there a fix?

I’m quite tempted to go get the original game on sale while I wait to see if they fix this mess. Used to enjoy it on Game Pass and I’m sure it works even better now a few years and updates later. I doubt that they’ll be able to fix everything in one patch or anything near it and suspect it might take months to get the new game working properly on console. From what I’ve seen PC players are having a better time with it.

Well, farewell old friend, I was going to keep both but storage space and not wanting one there in the background nagging me to play with them if things were looking rough as they most certainly are at the moment but yes, I’ve installed 2024 and after a month in Thailand I’ve come back to Blighty and about to get started on what I hope will be as good, if not better than the previous one which gave me the greatest gaming moments of my life.
flying a F-15 Eagle through the Mach Loop ( a place near my home 😀) in VR was mind blowing… here’s to the next 2,000 hours +

Flight Sim 2024 was at the top of my "must buy" list. However I decided to wait for a while until xmas - and very glad I did too considering the catastrophic reviews it got. So is it safe to get now, has it been fixed yet?

I took the plunge. My little boy is really into learning about geography, countries, landmarks etc at the moment so it gave me the excuse. I haven't played career mode yet, haven't touched it- but on my Series X the 'free flight' mode has been fine, when the Internet is working nicely the scenery is beautiful, I haven't seen that many bugs (the odd hanging on loading screen aside) and as a toy just to choose a place and fly around, it seems to be working perfectly well to me. It's also very nice to find the download size is about a tenth of what 2020 was.

Reading reddit etc, career mode seems to be the bit that needs work. I'll get to that in time, hopefully after a patch or six.
