first you guys have to remember this is professional physics, most people probably race on the basic mode.

and i would advise you to use r2 as your accelator if your using a controller. if you apply too much throttle you will just wheel spin and have no grip and slip and slide lol. so i would advise careful throttle controll using the analouge trigger.

and steering needs to be smooth as well, but thats quite hard on a controller. but if your using a wheel and pedals, it will be much easier.

and dont worry the real game wont be as 'hard' as this demo. this is a competition, the game will be more like a game.

the great thing about gran turismo is that it caters to amateurs who just wanna race around with nice speedy cars, and also to enthusiasts who want to achieve perfection.

Ummm....These are the final physics for GT5, Why take away something that they spent so hard and long to work on?

Me and my wheel get along great with the new physics, I say if they change any thing, Make them even harder.

If you just want jump in and go for a ride, pick standard physics before the race.

Oh do we now.

Seems common sence.

As does this.

The only thing thats hard about this demo is the online competition - and someone will always be better than you, so you have to deal with that. The AI will be easier than the online competition, but I doubt very much that the phyics will change much.

What are you talking about? He said to use the triggers for throttle and if necessary, play on standard physics, which you echoed.

Comprehension problems much?

Why is it alot of new members seem to post on here with a bit of an attitude...not really necessary.

Unfortunately for some there are no standard physics, as Torque said.

I'm not new, I just don't read these forums often, and participate even less. I had a wtf moment and had to reply to it because he was attacking the OP for no reason. Well, no so much "attacked" as challenged or questioned.

Oh Noes! A discussion may be sparked! :scared:

My problem is that the throttle is way too sensitive on wheels. I'd put a feather on the gas pedal, and i'm using half throttle, and I spin. Usually i'd add a bit of traction control(up to about 3) but it's off for wheel users and at 7 for pad users. My times are in the gutters because of this.

I'm a stability driver, i'm not up for a fight with my car(not that i'll lose the fight), and well, I don't have a table that can withstand the fight(a screw fell out yesterday and its not going back in:scared:)

Dam I thought I could come in here and get some helpful advice on stopping on my feet as I'm slipping and sliding all over the place at the moment - so cold and icy out side.

A discussion? Over what?

The guy said nothing compelling:
These are the final physics for GT5, Why take away something that they spent so hard and long to work on?
How's the op or anyone within the first 3 posts taking anything away from the physics in anything they say? They didn't. The question was baseless. Can we move on?

A discussion because someone questions the op.

cakefoo

Because someone challenged or questioned someone doesn't mean you have to have the wtf moments.

Its an internet forum filled with (mostly) intelligent people - discussions will be sparked and usually through being challenged to a new way of thinking or questioned.

And yes - we can move on. :)

You're overlooking the key phrases in my posts that described the state of his retort, which were "baseless" and "for no reason." There literally is no explanation for what he said, other than that he simply didn't read the OP.

WTF as in he pulled something out of thin air.

Oh sorry - I though we were moving on - but to answer the question in your last post:

He is sugesting they would/n't take it away in the sense that they will change it, because the op says

the real game wont be as 'hard' as this demo

(which I don't believe to be the case btw)

He didn't just say "the real game wont be as 'hard' as this demo." If he did, sure you could misinterpret that as being about the physics. But what he actually said was, "and dont worry the real game wont be as 'hard' as this demo. this is a competition, the game will be more like a game."

The game will be more like a game, meaning fun, progression, etc; as opposed to the time trial, which is really just an endless grind with 2 cars and one track, with absolutely no variety on the surface. In the real game your goals will be more defined, you'll be immediately rewarded in-game for your accomplishments, and you'll be doing a variety of races to keep things fresh and easy to stomach.

Usually I would agree with you - but the thread title does not say "For People Who Are Being Beaten By Other People", no - it says " For People Who Are Sliding and Slipping ", referring to the physics...or at least I would have thought so.

The OP gave the basic throttle control advice. And then, if worse came to worst, people can always just switch to standard physics in the full game. His whole point was summarized that it's ok to give up with pro physics if you're just a gamer and not really a hardcore simmer: "the great thing about gran turismo is that it caters to amateurs who just wanna race around with nice speedy cars, and also to enthusiasts who want to achieve perfection."

Torquehappen himself seemingly endorsed this without issue, saying, "If you just want jump in and go for a ride, pick standard physics before the race." So what exactly WAS torque's issue? Since you're speaking for him, I assume you'll have an answer.

I still prefer x for my throttle. I can regulate it fine but I have to check the throttle meter by the speedo every now and then as I get carried away. But then I have to do this with r2 aswell. Sticks are smooth as you can just use them a little and are great to correct over steer. But are too easy just to move them all the way to one side in the esses or whatever. L2 is worth a shot for throttle aswell though.

No - I'm not speaking for anyone apart from myself, and you shouldn't either.

But I would say that people needing the standard physics who "jump in and drive" generally (read: generally) wouldn't be in serious running for top 20 in their country. Which makes the point.....pointless.

....and why are you know saying GT made easier is by switching to the physics, unlike when you before said the AI and progression was what made it easier?

....and I thought you said you wanted to drop this.

For your first few posts you were acting like the torque defense force, when you really didn't know where he was coming from.

The OP isn't just saying do x to be a better driver, he's saying, if you don't have it in you, it's 100% ok to play at a difficulty level of your choosing, and that newcomers need not be alarmed by the TT demo, as the Pro physics are forced because of the competition, while GT5 will be for everyone.

....and why are you know saying GT made easier is by switching to the physics, unlike when you before said the AI and progression was what made it easier?
Uhh... because they're both true statements? And FWIW, in the context of the "AI and progression" statement, I was talking about the meaning of the 4th paragraph in the OP which you misinterpreted to mean the physics might see a downgrade/change. If you read the paragraph in its entirety you'd know he was referring to the difference between a time trial and a full-fledged game, and how tt's are less rewarding for the less-experienced players.

You and/or Torque seem to think the OP was saying the Pro physics would be literally downgraded. This is not the case. OP just means that the options will open up for less difficulty to those who are too frustrated to learn.

You need to respect that despite this being an internet forum, there are still people of various experience levels browsing.

....and I thought you said you wanted to drop this.
I did, but you just kept on persisting in ways that force me to reply.

I can see where you're coming from and your motivations for posting because you thought one thing and wanted to voice your disapproval/disagreeance. It's just that in this case, it was mostly just on account of your misinterpretation of the OP's and other posts. Now that you seem to understand what I have been trying to make clear, it's true that it no longer has relevance because it was all your misreading anyway.

No there's no misinterpretation, and I could go on with the arguement, and no - I am no nearer to understanding what you've been apparently trying to make clear. It is not my misreading.

Its me, shutting up, because I know we both stand strongly with our opinions and I have better things to make of an evening than sitting on an internet forum discussing something irrelevent to a thread.

Don't be so patronising in future.

No, you have mistranslated what the OP was saying. You were taking sections of the OP out of context and twisting them into something they weren't. This whole time I've just been saying, "This isn't what the OP meant, so there's no reason to have x reaction to it."

It's not about focusing on technicalities to belittle you, it's about standing up for the message that is in the OP. To tell you the truth it's a poorly-written post, but that doesn't make me care any less about the right and wrong/fact and fiction.

FFS - I WAS trying to stop this whole thing, like you originally asked, but you seem to be able to drop anything, so in future, I suggest never saying that backhanded comment again. Because its apparently just false, and appears detrimental to you image and your arguement.

You want to keep going with this?

Fine.

Post the quotes in question and we'll go from there. In the mean time, I'm going to bed.

I remained collected the entire time you cockily played that "drop it" card. I said, "Can we move on?" And the answer from you was, "No we can't, I'm not done misinterpreting everything. And by the way, you aren't moving on, nanna nanna..." You lack maturity.

First of all I d like to say that this message is intended primary for Kaz s developing team. I don t mean to provoke any angry reaction of a GT fan I just want to have the game the way I considere it to be the best (or I may say real)and not persuade anybody on the forum that I m right and he (or she:) is wrong. Also I d like to note that I m only going to discusse the driving physics (which matters most to me) not other aspects.
In general I think the GT TT demo physics are very nice but certain areas should be ironed out to make it perfect:

- The way the car behaves beyond the limit of the tire grip ( The truth is when sliding (driving "beyond" the limit of the tires) you shouldnt be loosing the control of the car but In the demo I am not feeling the car or at least too litle and when trying to control or countersteer slides the car often reacts unpredictable. This is best seen when trying to drift. It s probably me giving wrong inputs to the car but it is only bcause I m not sure what is the car doing at that instant and what to do to get it back under my control. This does not happen to me when drifting in real life. The lost of grip and control should be more continuous. I do not think it has anything to do with me not sensing the speed of the car or the visual and oral hints it is giving me. I m perfectly accostomed to the game and I can sence the car very nicely when not sliding. Maybe it s not primary the physics of the car but rather the forcefeedback or maybe combination of both I m not sure yet but LFS physics give me mutch closer feeling to the real thing and control of the virtual car when sliding or drifting than GT demo.
-Grass physics (1.too slipery, you can notice it when doing small circles on the grass very gentle on the gass, not accelerating, the back of the car slides like on ice 2.the car sways on the grass too much. more like a boat on the sea, I know grass is not absolutly flat but the movemet should me subtle and more sort of jerky or shuddery 3. grass and gravel magically limits reving though it should actually be the other way cause they present less ressistance to the engine than tarmac)
- Transition from the grass back to tarmack (When going from grass back to the road the car spins every time there is slightly higher angle even though you are not accelerating or braking) have not experienced in real life
- The brakes do not lock (probably only the demo settings - impossible to turn off the ABS completly)
- Wheels do not have tendency to lock when harsh downshifting
- Inability to impose brake in or lift off oversteer proparly .This I m not sure about it may be the way this car behaves in reality. I d have to see how other cars behave in this physics.
- The car reaction to hand brake seems exegerated too - When using handbrake and only slightly turning the wheel the back wheels lose to much grip like if they were on ice - this might be the same "tire loosing too much grip out of sudden" problem that I mentioned with drifting
One more thing I said I wouldn t discuse anything else beyond the physics but in case this gets to Kaz team... Engine sounds are great but rolling sound of the weels on tarmac when going slow is exegerated the same counts for the "grass" sound.
Sorry too all GT fans for this critisism I t s only because I like GT so much and I think it has potential to be a realy great simulation.
