Force Feedback Comparison: Fanatec Clubsport DD+ VS Logitech Pro DD11 Wheel Base in Gran Turismo 7

I'm trying to decide between the Fanatec Clubsport DD+ (15 Nm) and the Pro DD11 Wheel Base from Logitech (11 Nm) for Gran Turismo 7 (currently updated to version 1.55 at time of writing). While there are many factors to consider, I am specifically interested in understanding the quality of the force feedback. I've watched tons of videos and read forum posts, but the discussions often shift toward other games, accessories, compatibility, price, the "ecosystem" topic, wheels, customer service, or other related aspects, which is almost inevitable in general discussions, but they are costing me hours of research without helping me make an informed choice regarding the quality of the force feedback. I would like to gather in this post only information that pertains exclusively to Gran Turismo 7 and the force feedback quality of the two wheelbases mentioned above. Hopefully, by staying focused, the discussion will be helpful for anyone considering these options. It seems that Logitech's full force feature is indeed implemented in GT7, but it worsened after patch 1.49. On the other hand, Fanatec's full force feature had not been implemented at the time of writing.

If you've actually used either the Fanatec Clubsport DD+ or the Logitech Pro DD11 Wheel Base in GT7, could you please share your thoughts on the force feedback? Specifically:

• Detail / Feel: How well can you feel the road, tire slip, and the car's weight shifts? Does it feel like you're connected to the car?
• Fun / Immersion: How fun and immersive does it feel?

Please, only reply if you have direct, hands-on experience with at least one of these servo bases mentioned above in Gran Turismo 7. Your help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Logitech has trueforce which in my opinion greatly enhances the experience of ffb. I think fanatec has a similar feature but for whatever reason gt7 has not implemented it yet.

This is a good point. We are still incapable of an apples to apples comparison.

Also. Yesterdays patch. People are having first impressions and comparing. Soon opinions will form. Then adjustments. Maybe a few revelations..who knows. The last adjustment comparable occured in July. It may take some time to digest.

That said. Today, the DDx feels pretty good.

I, like most of us I guess, started on a controller and then bought a wheel and pedal set (Fanatec CSL Elite) and a very cheap, nasty rig / setup. It gave me a few years of trouble free service and enjoyment. I started to really "get the bug" with the arrival of Gran Turismo Sport and now Gran Turismo 7. So I went a little bit bonkers and built this...

A Fanatec Clubsport DD+ with a Clubsport RS wheel and CSL V2 pedals which I inverted. I just love the DD+. I have never had any problems with it. For me, at least, 15Nm is too much. I run mine at around 10Nm. That gives me great "feel" and isn't too strenuous on my aged and arthritic hands and elbows. I can now catch a slide in most cars. The feedback from the wheel is incredible and it is highly tuneable. The build quality is superb. The buttons on the wheel have been "mapped" to GT7 - Not all them but the ones that matter. It is a high quality product that is part of an ecosystem that I am sure will expand and develop and things move on at Fanatec following their recent <ahem> difficulties.

My vote is most definitely for Fanatec.

I’ve had the DD+ 8 months plus and never had any issues w it, upgrading from a DD Pro previously. The Pro was good, but the upgrade to the DD+ was significant, a much richer experience overall. Over 1K hrs on GT7 between both

I was also impressed that the auto setup using GT supplied settings was actually quite good - tho I have tweaked some settings slightly - which tells me that the Fanatec DD’s were well used by PD during development. I really feel a lot of detail, weight transfer etc and the experience is very convincing and immersive overall. However the latest update has changed things a bit. Physics is better, but the FB may have suffered. The lack of True Force support is a mystery

But a group I was racing with had a number of Logi Pro users, more skilled than me, which had a very high opinion of the GPro so its clearly a contender plus the full force feature adds to the immersion

So might really come down to eco system, support and other secondary considerations. As a long time fanatec user I’m invested - tho I would still recommend the DD+ w/o hesitation. And pretty much any title will have Fanatec support due to market position. But Fanatec is still turning the corner in quality and support under new owner Corsair

Logi seems invested in the space, but has been slow to expand over the years. My experience w other Logi products has generally been decent HW, so so SW.

they did get me started way back when in GT w a DFGT wheel so its a good entry product - whether they can grow their line is still TBD - but my next base was a Fanatec GT3 RS and still w them

I have the Logi Pro wheel and really like it. That being said, I've never tried a Fanatech so I cannot compare.

GT7 changed the physics and ffb multiple times, buying one of these two wheelbases purely on how it feels currently would be a mistake (in my opinion). That's why people discuss all the other things and make the decision on the whole "package"

I have the Fanatec DD+ base with Clubsport v2 hub, R330 wheel and Clubsport V3i pedals. Previously I used a Logitech G923. Even without FullForce yet implemented, the level of detail in the feedback is far superior. Just the extra weighting of the feedback allows for much more control. I can catch jinks and slides that I never could with the Logitech.

It is possible that Polyphony preferred to wait before implementing the feature because they knew that Fanatec was going bankrupt, and indeed, Fanatec declared bankruptcy in July 2024. However, Corsair acquired it at the end of September 2024, so Polyphony probably started working on it recently.

Thank you very much for your feedback. Out of curiosity, before the upgrade, did you use the QR1 or QR2 aluminum with the DD Pro? Regarding the Fanatec FullForce implementation, I replied to another message just above, and my educated guess is that they will include it in a patch in April or May 2025.
It’s interesting to hear that some A or A+ drivers you know use Logitech; I haven’t tried either of them, but for now I suppose that the experience in terms of sensations is probably quite similar. From what I’ve read and saw so far, it seems that the Fanatec is more responsive, while Logitech provides more detail thanks to the TrueForce functionality. If Polyphony decides to implement the Fanatec FullForce, I suspect Fanatec will feel slightly more convincing in terms of sensations at the end. But for now it is just an "if"...

I agree with you; of course, it’s not the only aspect to consider. The goal of this discussion is to understand and clarify this specific aspect regarding the Force Feedback, which should then be weighed against all the others.

Unfortunately I haven’t tried the Logitech DD wheel, so can’t give a direct comparison. Personally I opted for the Fanatec, because of the wide range of components available, meaning I can change or upgrade parts over time as needed.
I share your belief with regards to FullForce. With Corsair now taking ownership Fanatec should now be around for the foreseeable future, and hopefully we’ll see FullForce implemented soon in GT7. 🤞

Agreed. Hopefully now that the ever bouncing physics issue, and oscillations, have been adequately fixed(i think!), maybe pd/sony can make some progress on something which should have been done last year around this time.
