hey all, just wondering about the up coming GT5 whether or not it will have Ford Falcons in it. ranges such as the xr series, FPV series and so on. If not they should definately have at least a FPV typhoon or GT in it.

any info would be great

thanks.

How about some pointers... DO NOT make a thread on if a single car will be in GT5. We have that car list, you know. You're going to get people (especially those that like the vehicle in question) riled up that it's in GT5. So why not post in one of the wish lists instead of wasting bandwidth and peoples' time on stuff like this. You dig me, player?

Whoo... sound like a Moderator doing that. ^_^ Just leave the actual car inclusions to GT insiders like amar212 and such.

Wow, this is the side of John I haven't seen before!

So yeah, what he said, but I'll leave the thread open. Also, please capitalize the "First word of a sentence".

I have multiple personalities, you know... ^_^ Anyhow, it's not to say I'm against any Ford Falcon news. I love the Falcon as much as I like the Holden Commodore. I still say GT needs some Australian influence. Bathurst would be Mecca and Surfer's Paradise would also be a nice choice as well. I'd even welcome tracks like Sandown, maybe Queensland, Eastern Creek, Phillip Island (though I'm not very good at that track in games), and places like that.

Still needs some Australian tracks and perhaps more Australian cars. Never been a race in Australia in the GT series much like there has never been any true United Kingdom venues until now.

BT-> If the Aussie-Ford, Tickford and FPV was on GT4, it will likely be on GT5. ;)

Ok, sorry bout the hassle i caused you. I just had a look on the car list and no signs of the falcon yet :( Maybe later tho. thanks anyways guys.

Nothing's guaranteed with the roster downsize as big as it is (much less than 500 cars).

Is there really going to be a roster downsize? I was under the impression they were taking the cars from GT4 and simply adding a whole bunch to the list, maybe replacing a few with newer models.(eg. 2004 Mustang out, 2007 Mustang in)

Nothing is confirmed, SCEE has said that GT5 car numbers will be to the scale of GT4, Top gear reported they were told to expect upto 900 cars, GT5P has considerable more cars than GT4P. The only contradictary statement so far was by KY himself saying how long it takes to make each car and it would be very hard to reach the number from GT4 (something along those lines).

Personally I wouldn't be suprised if there were a downsize, but I doubt it will be a large one. We will find out.

Yeah they really need a stronger Aussie influence in the GT series.

Wake me up the end of fall when the update is pushed down the intertubes, until then I'm into rfactor.....over and out.

How can you have a "stronger Aussie influence" when Holden is owned by the General and Ford is owned by Ford? I mean sure, the crs might be made here, but they're still owned by American companies.

that's not 100% accurate.

If your really get into it. Ford has many devisions around the world that make different vehicles for each market.

For instance. Cars like the GT40 are British and the Falcon are Australian.

Even though Ford is American, these were cars built and designed in said region.

So, he's right about including each region in the game. GT is sold every where so you have to include cars from everywhere.

They are designed and built from scratch in Australia fairly independantly to suit Australian customers and conditions. That is where the Australian 'flavour' comes from (note we never went FWD in our large sedans).

oops, sorry. double post

Kazunori said that 500-600 cars would be impossible at this time.

I've hinted on this in a past post. PD has to get some Australian venues included (even if fictional street courses). PD went through some of the trouble getting in Korean makes and adding the love-it-or-hate-it Seoul street course. It would be asking too much, but I think every nationality of car featured in GT1 should have at least one track so you can have a semblance of home pride. Think of how there were a lot of American cars in GT2 with a few venues to go racing at in America (Seattle and Laguna Seca). You have a sense of home pride racing cars from a certain nationality of car. Australian cars have been in GT since GT3. However, never any real home field advantage. Bathurst would obviously be the best fit. However, places like Surfer's Paradise, Adelaide, Sandown, Eastern Creek, Phillip Island, and Queensland are great venues to look into if Bathurst isn't available. MAYBE even Albert Park wouldn't be bad to look into (even though Codemasters has the F1 licensing).

I've been educated about Australian racing since 2000 or 2001. I love the roar of those Australian V8 Supercars and just how intense the racing action is. That's not to mention the Holden vs. Ford Australia rivalry. I even valued being introduced to the late great Peter Brock. While I've been proud to be able to get myself the Tickford supercars in GT3 and GT4, I'd love to see Holden V8 Supercars just to make the Holden/Ford Australia rivalry relevant in GT5. Imagine an online battle with 12 or 16 or so people racing either Holdens or Australian Fords. Polyphony Digital planted the seeds of showing off Aussie muscle in Gran Turismo. Now, they need to turn that little plant into a branching bold tree of Australian racing goodness. I'm speaking with passion on the notion of Australian cars because I love exploring the automotive and racing worlds. Australia would include that fourth different continent of motorsports goodness Gran Turismo fans would love to have. It was still fun racing that FPV in one of the GT4 License Tests at Apricot Hill. So at least these cars are being utilized in a way and not just left for dead like in GT2.

I'd be more than happy to see Australian presence in GT5. Just enough to make Australian fans happy while other car enthusiasts the world over can be more than happy to race Australian cars and Australian venues.

I agree with everything in your post except one small detail. While I am a Queenslander and would absolutely love my home track in there, Queensland Raceway aint much of a track. It's better than some tracks in GT already (Daytona Oval, Seoul Central, High Speed Ring to name a couple), but to represent Australia tracks QLD is not exactly high on the list of viable options.

The big thing I'm worried about is this roster downsize. If we have less cars in GT5 than GT4, I'd be surprised if Australian cars make it at all. I mean, judging from past actions by PD, they'd take out the Aussie cars first just to add some more Skylines. From what I can tell that's exactly what went down from GT2 to GT3. A whole heap of American muscle disappeared in favour of a few extra trim levels of the one Japanese car.

PS- Don't let Do you race? see your post, I think he has a vendetta for Aussie cars, won't even admit they're Aussie. Doesn't matter who owns them, matters who designs them. And those Aussies designing our cars still get payed to do their job, it's not like Americans steal our pay-checks.
