Now it's time to ask the question with (arguably) no answer...

Which is better, Ford or Chevy?

I guess I'll go with Chevy because the Corvette is my favorite American sportscar.  Don't get me wrong, though, I really like Ford too, I just never have had a strong preference for either company.

Chevy is my all time Favorite. I am a fan of the Camaros and the Corvettes. I am not a fan of ford at all. I dont have one Ford in my garage on GT-2

The Corvette is my favorite American sportscar.

You've got to hand it to Ford's GT40 and GT90 though.

I'm not a fan of either car. Never liked them and prolly never will. I dont leave them in my garage on gt-2 more then 1 minute after i win one of them.

Not even the GT-90!?

That car is one of the best in the game, in my opinion.

OK.  There was a member at the GT2 Community who hated Fords too.  :)

Ford's GT-One?  I've heard lots about the GT-40 and GT-90, but the GT-One is new to me.  :conf:

That seems very surprising since it's in GT2. Just go to the ford dealer and look up special models. You'll be able to buy the GT-One Road car . But the normal GT-One you would have to beat the GT World Championship to win it. So far I think I have 64,000,000 credits so its no problem in getting any car in the game except for ones you unlock during license tests. :)

Wait a minute...  Does it look like this?

Ford, Chevy, Dodge......it all comes down to a matter of taste. They have all made some very good cars, and some lemons. I have learned to never knock anything you havent driven, and just because one gives you trouble, doesnt mean they all will!

Yes that's very true.  Anyone who's a fan of one company that hates the other usually doesn't give the other a chance.  Just whoever wins the NASCAR race.

I myself don't like most American sports cars. The mustangs, corevettes, camaros, firebirds; they are all over rated. I don't think any of them are as great as they are all hyped up to be. The GT90, I'm a huge fan of the GT90. it's a great car, I think I have two of them in my garage, 1 hybrid, 1 non hybrid. GT40's, they are great handlers and I think I've got 5 or 6 different ones in my garage. The Vipers are my all time favorites. Who can beat a huge 460hp V10? I love the vipers and always will. I like older cars too, Mostly older chvy muscle cars.  Just about any 1969 Super Sport Chevy is fine by me.

The'yre special because of their history.

Plus the Viper is known to be difficult to handle and F-bodies can be modded to trash Vipers in power and in some areas of performance.

In '89 the Firebird pace car was faster than the 'Vette, this happened before in some respects in the late 70's, though I don't think in top speed.

Some have credited the Super Duty 455 Trans Am with helping to keep the muscle car alive.

Back in '96, '97 a Hurst Firebird with 360 horsepower reached a speed of over 180 mph.

The brake rating of F-bodies are quite good. 60-0 in 111-118 ft.

#30k+ vs. around $80k

Because the firewalls and steering colomns don't have to be converted to american, plus they are shipped over seas. Japanese probally pay around $200,000 for a Viper that would sell for about $80,000 here.

I have a 706 hp Viper GTS. Have you even upgraded your vipers?

Yeah, the shipping is a lot, but I'd say most of the price comes from the tarrif the U.S. governement places on imported goods.  Anybody have an idea of what the current tarrif rate is?

So, we're paying nearly double for all imports?

Well, personally, I'm a fan of Ford (its a family thing down here in the south - there are Ford families and Chevy families...).  But, Chevy's current sport/muscle cars are much better than Fords.  Mustang GT's and Z28's are basically the same price, and the LS-1 powered Z28 will smoke a GT.  The Cobra is a little better, but power output problems (that have supposedly been solved now) mean that it is still slower than Z28's (not to mention SS's), though the new independant rear suspension allows the new Cobra to handle very well.  Ford also has absolutely nothing on Corvettes, either.

However, the old (Pre-94) Fox-bodied mustangs are in my opioion the easiest and cheapest method to go fast in this country, and are miles ahead of 3rd-gen camaros in terms of ease of modificaions (try putting a dual exhaust on a 3rd-gen...).  I'm not sold yet either on the new Ford modular V8's, but the old small- and big-block fords are better than their chevy counterparts in my opionion.

That said, in terms of sports/sporty cars, Chevy has the upper hand at this point (but what happens next year in the absence of the F-body?).  I'm more into trucks than cars, and I'll never buy a Chevy truck (well i would over a foreign truck)... too many problems with them and they seem to heavily overrate their engine output numbers for the vortec engines.  Well thats just my $0.02, i'm sure the bowtie boys will rip me up for this...
