Ford vs. Chevy

I own both.  2 Chevy Z24's and a Ford Fairmont.
Im not biased on either.  If you take care of anything, it will last.
I like the Mustang Gt's, but they are slow by todays standards.  Even the Cobra is weak compared to the Sport compact market.  I do like the fact of modifing the Mustangs.  Lots of aftermarket support for the GT's is nice.
For the money,  the Camaro SS is a steal for the performance you get and the topline Trans Ams series too.
Dodge is nice and with the exception of the Viper, its mostly family based.
Later.

domestic wars

ford vs. chevy? tough call.  if based solely on sports cars, which i think is what we have in mind here, the corvette outruns, outhandles, and ultimately outperforms anything ford has to throw out.  however, the new euro-based vette designs have the faithful american consumers wondering where chevy is going, and good ol' american working-man ford tough is staying true to tradition.
but whatever the big picture is, i think the Z06 is quite the car (cost to performance-wise, which are the only two things i really care about ;)), so i think chevy is the better of the two.  remember, if you see a fork in the road, take it.

if i have to go domestic then i'll go chevy. both dodge and ford dont know how to pump power out of their cars but im talking real world. not too mention ford hasn't had a good streak with their mustangs.

Personal experience dictates i go with what i own.1971 Monte Carlo SS 454 4 speed 4:11 posi. 600 hp on the carb, 200 more on the blue bottle, very fun to drive even more fun to show off< May not be the fastest but the rest don't mess!!!! 4100 lbs of fast Chevy iron!!

Personally I like the Shelbys made by Ford Mustang. The ones from Shelby are definitely better though. In GT3, The C5R is one of my favorite cars. I've never played GT1 or 2 so I haven't gotten very far on GT3. It's been about 3 weeks and I've only gotten 21%. Because of that, most of the good cars I've used were in arcade mode. The C5R has pretty good handling and decent speed but I've got a couple cars that I would rather use. My F090 is way better along with my Tuscan Speed 6. So, what I'm trying to say is that both company's make decent cars in the game but you only use them in the races you need them.

I currently own a 89 Trans AM
I hate those guy who drive a Mustang, specially 5.0, they think they are bad ass and i smoked everyone of them.. :D

I'm a big Camaro fan :) as well as firebird, but i don't have enough money for Gas. Them big engine sucked up a lot of juice cost me a bunch.

Yes i do agreed with some of you guys, American car need to go after Japanese's market. They need to start making some thing look good and economy to compete with them. Car that is a small compact, reliable, nice, roomy, and fast..

Im A HUGE Chevy fan.

Why rip you up? Everything you said was the truth!  3rd gen Camaros have nothin on the similar Mustangs.  My brother knew a guy that spent 13 grand oon his 3rd gen but still couldnt win. He probably didnt know what he wasa doin though.  Yeah its true also, the chevy ford thing in the south. Im chevy of course, as we've owned many first gen camaros, and a sencond gen. Including a 67 SS and a 69 RS/SS Indy Pace Car Convertible. WE have owned a few mustang too, like a 351 Mach 1, and a 67 Show (winning)Quality Mustang Fastback.  But chevys all the way.

And for the F-body leaving?  The new Automobile mag say that there is buzz of the next CAmaro, the 2005, being the 69 Camaro of this mellinium(wrong spelling)

I have an idea for GM for a F-Body replacement.  Import Holden Products, or put a verient of the 4.2 Inline 6 from the Trailblazer in the C5 Vette.  Sell the thing for 25k.  I would buy a Vette w/handcrank windows and cloth interior, or..........

I'll have to go with Ford, because the GT40 is my all-time favorite car. She may not be the fastest, but shes a classic.

Although, she is pretty expensive. So, realistically, I'd have to go with Chevy. The old Corvette Stingrays are the best. After I win CPL in December with my clan, I will buy one. Hehe, jk.. I wish we will win.. :(

hmmmm...

i'd have to go with chevy. ford hasn't really put out any nice cars in recent years, but chevy hasn't been all that impressive either. it's a shame that the f-body cars are going to be history in a few years. just when the firebird looked / performed so well! i was planning on buying one after college but now i won't be able to get a brand-new one.

:(

I may be a bite late on this discusion, but I was just looking around and noticed this topic...

I think the way your raised has a lot to do with too, I mean I was always told throughout life ford sucked... I mean my dad layed it on me thick, talking about pastic trannies, and broken down this broken down that... So i am a chevy man. I do agree w/ jordan though, the corvette was the best thing going for America, until the Viper... I would like to see ford produce a car that could compete againist the corvette and the viper, not meaning on the race track, but in the national market... The mustang just doesn't cut it. The closest thing ford has is the cobra and the series 1, and thats not even there cars, those are Shelby's.

the new 2002 Z06 had a power upgrade from last year. so it beats the Viper GTS in 0-60 AND 1/4 mile. So the Vette is the best thing going for America. And its costs 25 grand less, too

very very true... Looking I am not doging the vette, I love it as much as the next guy, plus i love chevy's I just think I like the viper more cause it appears to me as more the american sports car.... Its roots are back in era of the mucsle cars, and no doubt spawn of the cobra....

Which Viper is this BMW? the 2001 GTS? The Viper with 40 hp less than the 02 and the one with 50lb/ft of torque less than the 02? Just wait till the 03 model year the new RT will wipe the floor with any Z06 including the '02 and if they make one the '03.

Just cuz the Z06 has a faster 0-60 and 1/4mile time the viper is faster top speed wise.

no, really! how many street races will reach the top speed? thats what we are atlkin about here. What the better feat of engineering? Vette. period. They can match the Vipers #'s with more than 2 liters less. And a a Track? A Z06 can waste and current Viper. Dont even speak of the 2003 yet, as they dont even have a model that up to production standard. the one the Mag's are testing dont have the new drivetrain yet, or even one that will be whats put in production.

Still, The base price of the Viper will still be WAY above the bang-for-the-buck ratio that a Vette has.

and as for the 2003 Viper, its 0-60 will be around the same as the 2002 Z06, but the 1/4 will be about .5 quicker. But there is rumor af a C5R based SuperVette, if its made, Viper will be the lille piggy that crys all the way home.

I love the 63 stingray and the '90 ZR-1. My fav chevy cars. Ford are the GT-40 and the Shelby GT500. The road car 4 the toyota gt1 is plain red.

I just like any of the old cars. Well trucks really. I like old Ford trucks and new Chevy trucks. I like old and new cars of both. But then there are some I hate in both too. Of course, I drive an old Ford truck so I'm kinda biased. ;) If I could get any car I wanted, old or new, it wouldn't be either one of these. It'd prolly either be a 2000 Dodge Viper GTS, a 1994 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4, a 1996 Nissan 240SX Fastback Type X, or a 2001 Toyota MR2 Spyder.

I like Lotus Elise also :P

But I would give just about anything to have an old Ford GT-40. :D

well if your looking for a car that doesnt breakdown as soon as you drive it off the lot, ford isnt a option......

my fav american sportscar is,well you know

dodge and chevy are awesome!!!!!!!

:fdevil: :fro:

I'll go with chevy.
The 'Vette and Viper are both legit American super cars.

The 'Vette though is the most performance, for the least amount of money. I know that most super car consumers are probably not conserned with cost, but value goes a long way in my book.

You've got to hand it to Ford's GT40 and GT90 though.

Your favorite American sportscar is the Corvette Jordan? Have you never heard of the best car ever made period? The Dodge Viper? :viper: :D

Anyway Chevy has my vote hands down. Way better than Ford cars. If you need a car to get you somewhere you need to take a Chevy. Plus you cant trust Fords. They break downto easily.

FINAL VOTE:

:chevy:

Ford or Chevy. Neither really. Don't like many Fords, only Mustang and GT90, and for Chevorlet, only like the corvettes. Damn those camaros are ugly. :yuck: If I have to choose one, :ford:.

And as for the greatest American car and also the greatest in the world......Dodge Viper GTS :viper: It's looks way better than a corvette and has more power than the C5 Corvette.

That's in my opinion anyway.
