...About the LS:

I would agree that a big problem with the car was the fact that the car didnt recieve the proper refinement in terms of sporting ability like it's compeditors did. They should have been injecting SVT technology from the get-go, mostly in the use of the Mustang Cobra's 4.6L V8 and the same 6-speed manual. Sure, the clutch may have been a bit too heavy for a sports sedan, but atleast it would have been able to compete a bit better overall.

Cars like the GT are always going to be a limited run - the fact that Ford are shutting the factory where its built is probably mostly coincidental.

If you're trying to sell a +$100k premium sports car, especially one with a Ford badge you've got to tell potential punters that its going to be a limited production run. This way enthusiasts and speculators know that their investment will lose little money because demand will still be high when they decide to off load.

The GT was a marketing scheme, designed to raise Ford's profile. Having a 'Ferrari' beater in it's line-up does no harm to the rest of Ford's catalogue at all. Ford probably never intended on making any money directly from GT sales, the money to cover development costs will come from potential raised sales from the positive knock-on effects. A company the size of Ford can never make money off the back of the sale of just 3000 cars.

I guess the same will go for the ZO6. Reading about its specifications this weekend, with all that unique construction, i can't see how GM make any money on it, and i wouldn't be suprised if they lose money on every one.

...Wassent the GT built alongside the S7 at Saleen's plant? I thought I read that somewhere...

As far as the Z06 goes, I doubt they are loosing much money, if any at all. Most of the pieces are off the shelf, but many are newly developed alongside the C6R racecar. I'm not a GM beancounter, but I highly doubt they would ever build a car they would loose money on...

I know that GT's were either painted or striped(racing stripes) by Saleen, but I'm not sure if they did any more than that.
