I can respect that, different strokes.

Pretty nihilistic though. It's all pointless if you dig deep enough in'it?

Lighten up, F1's racing, even if you pick your horse to win 'cause he qualified on pole by 2 seconds, his engine can blow out. Whether you're right or wrong in predicting the race after qualifying, doesn't matter much 'cause you had the information. But if you pieced together outside factors and history in order to pinpoint the winner before the weekend even started - bossman. But if you're afraid of being wrong, the cliff edge falls quite hard.

So for ultimate glory (or death), I'm gonna go out on a limb and randomly predict Mark Webber to be the winner. Not a shred of evidence ;)

But he is 'stralian...

None of us know who's gonna win, but most of us have our hopes. And if they impressed with some aspect in testing, inconclusive or not, doesn't hurt to play that into your choice. On yet one more alternative hand: if I was being paid to predict, you can bet your ass I'd wait to put my token down until that final red light was about to go off.

This could be great with the changing weather! Wish there was 30 F1 races a year instead of 19. Maybe Alonso will get Pole if it rains...Or maybe Hamilton.

a bit more than 6 hours until the first practice.

I have no idea who's gonna be on pole and who will win. It's gonna be exciting. If we could have the same sort of crazy start than last year it would be awesome.

I'm rooting for Lotus, Mercedes and Williams. It's good to have F1 back in business! If the weather will be as cold as in some forecasts, positions might chance on the last corner on last lap. Good season starter ahead :)

Thanks for sharing the one answer question video from McLaren. I think they have one of the best marketing campaigns when it comes to F1. Race starts 2AM EST and we are soooooooo looking forward to it. If any of you guys or gals are located in NYC we are having an F1 meetup party to watch the race live! http://www.meetup.com/formula1NYC/

Sorry for the plug.

Anyone know where NBC Sports stream is located? I can't find it and practice starts soon.

Edit: Nevermind. NBCSN lists practice 1 for "midnight". What a great start for their coverage....

I am hoping Perez can win. It would be great to watch that.

Double post because of idiotic computer sorry. Sometimes it decides to highlight the post button then when I press space it posts. This time it didn't take me to the post though just refreshed the page so I assumed it didn't go through.

Wonder who will supply engines for RBR next year.

And I did hear a rumor that Honda will rejoin next year as well.

Beyond stoked for the race, so glad F1 is back. Not much to read into from FP1 though, other than Marussia is definately quicker than Caterham.

RBR will be sticking with Renault engines until 2016, they've effectively become the Renault factory team (In terms of support). http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/formula1/14855045
As for Honda, the rumor is that they will rejoin F1 in 2015 with McLaren. http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/105949

So far, it seems NBC Sports is better than Speed by actually showing every session. It feels good to finally watch F1 again.

We'll see what they can do come Qualifying... if Merc qualifies on top... :D

I doubt it, though.

Wonder when/if they'll bust out the Supersofts today. Only Ferrari tried them in Spain. Friday's more of an auxiliary testing session than anything.

They might. The channel ten guys just mentioned that the weather tomorrow may not be too good, so there may not be much/any dry running tomorrow.

People are predicting a Mercedes win, and possibly because of the weather. The mechanical grip of the Mercedes is apparently one of it's strongest respects (along with the engine), and Hamilton is known for being one of the best in the wet. Hopefully teams don't wait around in FP2. FP3 may be wet so the setup work may take place then in expecting for a wet race. So maybe they'll treat it as a test session. The only thing is the tire situation. But with a wet race the dry tires are useless. Will be interesting to see.

Watching Practice 2 right now and after the last 7 years, it feels really weird watching an F1 session without the Speed Logo.

Bottas with Super soft tires, let's see how fast they are
More like "let's see how many corners they can do without hitting the cliff".

Guys, why can't we have separate threads for sessions? Or at least, two separate threads. One for commentary and another for post-race discussion. I can't watch the races live and whenever I come here there's like 8000 posts to read mostly e-commentary :(

I'm having my hopes up for Rosberg this season.

Most of the front runner teams put on SS's now. Times may not get faster than this if it rains tomorrow.
