Maybe Ricciardo. Why not try every car in the field that isn't a Red Bull, Mercedes, or Ferrari?

But Haas will fall back further. On the other hand I don't really see Aston getting much quicker. Also K-Mag is the better benchmark to Lance...

Would you thought? Aston Martin is barely better than Haas right now and that's the generous take.
Except Schumacher isn't actually a Haas driver, he's a Ferrari driver loaned out to Haas. And he's clearly not good enough to drive for Ferrari. One day Ferrari will drop him and that could be the end of his career. Exactly the same thing happened to Giovinazzi. If he leaves on his own terms and signs with Aston Martin he'll have a chance at working his way up and going for a longer career.

Can't see AM/Stroll wanting to replace VET with someone less experienced than Lance. Experience seems most likely to me.

Apart from Hulkenberg i can't think of anyone else available who meets that criteria. And even if there were any Aston seems a hard sell for a seat.

More likely that the seat will be occupied by a rookie in the near future.

Alonso is fast enough to stay in F1 next year but I pray he doesn't end up at Aston Martin.

IMO, De Vries or whoever wins F2 this year would be the best choice for Aston. The choice of experienced drivers will either be a downwards step for them if they still have it, or a waste of a seat if they're one a downwards spiral anyway.

Lance will be in his 7th season by 2023, so to call him inexperienced is a bit short-sighted and it's probably time for him to step up as a team leader and see if that kicks him into gear to be faster.

Aston Martin has a new "armchair" rear wing which it says the FIA has approved at every stage of design and could, in principle, create more downforce from the rear wing and more dirty air. Which will annoy everyone.

Seb wants Mick to replace him, no surprise.

Haas surprisingly slow in FP1 - maybe it would be an upgrade for young Schumi.

Not with Lawrence Stroll at the helm it doesn't.
How so? They are building a whole new factory and have hired a lot of new people from other teams like RB, they were even talking about building their own PU for 2026.

Meanwhile Haas rely on Ferrari and Dallara to build their cars for them, they are destined to be a mid field team at best. Mick has pretty much no chance of getting a Ferrari seat either.

McLarens looking strong for FP1/FP2, so obviously it's going to be pain tomorrow and sunday.

They need to get in front of someone for the dirty air to be a problem.

They should've had Oreca make their chassis. The entire lmp2 field abandoned dallara, multimatic, and ligier and went with an oreca chassis.

Maybe their car would be more competitive with a better chassis. PU is obviously good this year.

I'm pretty sure Mick will forever stay within the Ferrari family.

I mean, if you give me the choice between actually having to work for it or just waiting for Ferrari to **** the bed week in week out, the answer is obvious. Water is wet and all that.

You sound surprised
A little bit. They're obviously not the fastest team, but it's odd to see Gasly go out too, and below Yuki no less.

It seems that that was due to a lap time deletion for track limits.
