L1 T1 incidents have always been treated more leniently, this isn't new. If RUS took out SAI on lap 4 he would have got stronger punishment.

Pretty sure the drivers agreed to this, they don't want to have to tip toe around lap 1 when everyone is grouped together.

The wind

The wind
I think the winder talked about the wind, let me rewind and see if he mentioned it three or wind times, I lost track.

So Max avoids getting his Q1 lap deleted. And Sergio avoids getting penalized for not getting damage repaired. Another strong weekend for F1
There is also pretty strong evidence they penalised GAS solely because he criticised them in Japan.

Almost the entire grid, >10 car lengths behind. Not to mention of course Singapore where Checo did it three times and still came out with effectively no penalty.

I don't see how you can make a 10 second penalty turn into 30 for a non-existent pit stop. So now we have stewards acting like little children, making things up as they go along. The chance for a black flag could have been flown, but it wasn't. Getting teams to lodge complaints well after the race isn't a good precedent.

Next week, Alonso will have to drive with a duck in his car and Russell will have to play Calvinball to make up the lost ghost points until the Destructor's Championship is reset to M and 13.

If nothing we watch is real any more and everything can be incessantly protested, what's the point of watching?

Also whither protests over Verstappen's track limits in Q1? Although you'd have thought - if it was what it looked like - Mercedes/Ferrari would have protested it on principle at the time

As of the last race they finally realised rotating race directors wasn't a good idea, maybe they'll finally realise rotating race stewards are also not a good idea. Oh, and that certain individuals cough Roberto Moreno probably shouldn't be race stewards, either.

Haas got flags for a lot less, I even mentioned it twice at the time during this thread. I think although the penalty for Alonso is harsh, Haas were fully within their rights to make that protest, and the FIA need to hand this penalty out more stringently and quickly in future to any car with that loose endplate.

Especially as it has often seemed like Haas have been getting targeted with the meatball this year despite plenty of other instances of loose or missing parts

I don't believe they have been getting targeted, but they seem to always get one despite multiple cars being involved.

On another note is it just me or is VERs left phalange (aka wheel cover thing) flapping around a bit?
So I wasn't seeing things. Another bit of loose car that Haas would've been pulled in for.

When can I do the final FACC standings after the USGP?

Ridiculous stuff.

If we're retroactively reversing penalties for races done and dusted then I nominate Canada 2019 and Belgium 2008.
