Stroll stuffs it and loses his front wing, and he was on inters... - he's out of the race.

Sainz: "What's the forecast?"
Ferrari: "Rain for 5 minutes"

Magnussen off on the full wets...

Stroll off too... which is impressive considering he is supposed to be out of the race

Aston Martin needs to fire their weather guy. Putting Alonso on mediums was the dumbest call I've ever seen.
Definitely, he could've stayed out on the hards to see if the rain intensifies before committing to the mediums. As it was they gave Max a free 20 seconds.

Or if he swapped to inters, he would've passed Max while max was trundling around.
And then his laps would be 1 lap warmer.
He's less than 20 secs behind Max now. It could have happened. It was a bizarre choice to go for the mediums

Yeah, in the end they gambled wrong, but Alonso had the gap so he ended up where he started. I think there may have been some worse strategy calls elsewhere. But to me if they wanted to stay on dry tires, it seems like they could've stayed out longer on the hards. That's the advantage of the hards, you can run longer and see if any opportunities rise up from a safety car or need for wet tires.

That's the bizarre thing about it. Switching to inters made sense, staying out made sense, switching to mediums made no sense at all
