A bit of a smooth brain moment from Stroll just now.

Edit: It seems that Stroll was actually moving to let one of the Alfas through, and didn't expect Latifi to come through. Still a really odd incident, though. :odd:

Not sure that can be pinned on Stroll, Latifi has just let him through and then decided to hoon it down the inside of him for no reason at all. There's no reason why Stroll would have been looking for him.

Latifi is becoming a massive liability for Williams.

Don't see how that is Stoll's fault, have no idea what Latifi was doing.

Stroll also gets a blue flag so he was probably looking left to watch for a faster car coming through, not Latifi re-overtaking him after being basically stopped on track? Bizarre

Well, we might actually see Vettel get a lap in now.

Edit: Seb is away, and with 30 seconds to spare!

That Turn 11 is going to create some moments tomorrow. Lot of issues happening there with guys running deep.

Crofty with the instant commentators curse, Alonso crashes right after he noticed the purple sector.

Sounds like the Hydraulics went in the middle of that braking zone, engine went silent.

It was weird from Latifi to do that, but that doesn't make it his fault. Stroll should have looked before moving across, there was a clear gap for Latifi before Stroll closed it. He has every right to go past.

Yeah, but in the context of the situation, Stroll has just passed a slow moving Williams, isn't expecting that Williams to come back up the inside of him, whilst also moving across for the blue flags being waved in his face apparently for the Alfa which was going faster than both.

Both have some fault attributed in some way, I think the stewards penalising only Stroll is very odd.

The fact it's Latifi and he just passed him is irrelevant though. Stroll should be looking in his mirrors before moving over. If he didn't know or see LAT was there, what if another car was there? Outcome would've been the same. You look in your mirrors before sweeping across the track, basic rule. Why the other car is there or how unexpected it is isn't relevant. For all he knows LAT just had a temporary problem then gets back up to speed.

Stroll has a serious not looking in his mirrors/situational awareness problem.

I don't think all of these were his fault, but a lot could've been averted by Stroll being more aware and/or not just trying to take the normal racing line.

Latifi makes a lot of errors himself, no doubt, but this one wasn't on him at all IMO.

Just watching Qualifying now.

Saw Hamilton in 7th gear on the sweeping curve midway through the lap and his head seemed to be bouncing ridiculously as the car hit the rev limiter... it looked really uncomfortable. (edit: it's called 'porpoising' apparently!)

I've never been a big fan of Albert Park but I very much like the improvements to the circuit. And given the state of some of the other circuits on the calendar, Melbourne is rising up the chart in terms of quality venues.

I was actually in Melbourne on the day of the first ever GP at Albert Park and I could hear the cars. I was unable to go, however, as I had no money and was working crappy jobs in Melbourne at the time, plus I was also boarding with my ex-gf's nutty family at the time, and I didn't even get to see the race highlights on TV. So near and yet so far...

Notable drivers, Russell up on Hamilton, Albon battering Latifi who is also behind Vettel who has only done 1 qualifying lap.
