F1 really should just become a time trial series because qualifying really is the best part of the weekend.

guess I have to sign up for f1tv since I just noticed that ESPN and other Disney channels got pulled off my cable provider for a contract dispute.

Half of the job done Ferrari. Hopefully both drivers will have the pace to be able to bring the race win tomorrow.

Apparently Vasseur argued that the slow laptime rule can't be applied if the driver(s)are slowing down to let other cars pass by. Since there hasn't been a public detailed ruling from the FIA, the implication is that Vasseur's argument is what got the stewards to back down on investigating the Ferrari cars.

That, and the stewards probably wanted to make it back to their hotel room in one complete, non-spray-painted-in-red piece.

Sainz been on it all weekend. Would love to see him win it. Unfortunately the Red Bull is always superior on tyre wear and race pace. And Verstappen is flying atm. We shall see though.

My mind was going other places on why there was no further investigation.

From the official decision document:
The Stewards thoroughly reviewed Marshalling/Positioning data, timing data, on-board cameras and CCTV cameras.
Both drivers stayed at or above speeds necessary to stay below 1:41.0 around the vast majority of the circuit and especially on the straights. However, in both cases the Stewards determined that the drivers took appropriate actions to slow and stay to the side to the track so as to not impede other drivers, and in both cases they did this significantly to allow four drivers to pass while giving those drivers a clear track. The Stewards therefore determine that they did not drive “unnecessarily slowly”, and that evidently the reason they were both slightly above the maximum time was due to their appropriate actions and take no further action
Sounds like a fair reasoning to me.

Technically a red flag? Seems like the gate didn't open for the team's to get onto the grid after they stopped, might cause more of a delay.

Now we have to wait 15 minutes before green flag.

Another aborted start would've been the best option.
By the time they got around, they AT would've been removed.
