Hey guys. I was playing a bit of gt6 today and got a bit nostalgic from gt3 where I felt very proud that I managed a sub 1 min lap of deep forest with the polyphony 001 or whatever it was called.

While racing around deep forest in my fgt I lost the rear end and managed to hold a perfect drift round one of the corners. This got me wondering if any of you guys have purposely tried drifting in the fgt and what the outcome was.

You could try here GT6 Drifting Forum

I remember doing a bit of drifting in my FGT on the Eiger Nordwand Short Track a long time ago. It was fun, and having the car exit turns super quickly while drifting was amusing. Though, I never really got the hang of it. Most of the time, I'd spin out. But it's fun when you do get the hang of it.

The 97T is easier to drift. Although if I'm going to drift something crazy like that I'd rather drift my Tomahawk X. (Yes, it's possible.)

"the real driving simulator.. ":banghead:

Learn to drift with a fgt, Lotus 98T or a alien car like the Tomahawk X....:boggled:

simulator

1. (Mechanical Engineering) any device or system that simulates specific conditions or the characteristics of a real process or machine for the purposes of research or operator training

Drifting with a fgt o a Tomahawk X alien non existing car do not really enter the terms of a driving simulator....

Try assetto Corsa, Iracing and you will see what simulation really means.. Even PCars can teach things to GT in terms of simulation.

Unrealistic, thats why, or do you see real F1 drivers Drifting around the whole tracks?

And for the Tomahawk... Well, even the car doesn't exist in the real world..

And yes,in GT you can even drift in a laser engine car.... But the name of "the real driving simulator " has become a real joke.

I really liked the GT saga till GT4...but now I'm looking forward to more "realistic " games than GT..

Do you think that drifting is the fastest way of getting around a track? It isn't, and that's why you don't see real F1 drivers drifting around the whole tracks.

And for the Tomahawk... Well, even the car doesn't exist in the real world..

...so it can't be drifted? Nice logic.

How come? You don't think it's possible to simulate vehicles that doesn't exist in real life?

And no, you can't drift the 2X, because it doesn't transmit power from the wheels.

What do you mean by "realism"? You don't think fiction can be realistic?

Nope, logic that Drifting is slower. But still you don't see Drifting in formulas.

...so it can't be drifted? Nice logic.

Y hate Unrealistic cars like the Tomahawk, X2,red bull... Nice cars for a ridge racer games indeed

Nope.

Try again.

Mmmm,nope..fiction is fiction.

In a simulator for me realistic means aero damage, most realistic driving physics possible, engine damage, if you run out of fuel the car stops..no like GT that the car still stay running at 80kmh.. Mechanical failure, tyres with possibility to gave graining, blistering, puncture... If you fail to much your gear shifting.. Gearbox failure.. Visual damage..

Because the point of F1 is to go around a circuit as fast as possible.

Feel free to hate. But do explain why you hating certain cars mean that they can't be drifted.

You're wrong.

Try again.

That certainly depends on how you define drifting. If you define it simply as sliding around a corner, than this is drifting as well:

So, now you've seen an F1 car drift around a track. Happy?

Mmmm,nope..fiction is fiction.

So the video game you play isn't fiction? You're actually driving a car while you're playing the game? By your definition there are no realistic video games, unless the video game is about you playing the game while you're playing the game while you're playing the game.

In a simulator for me realistic means aero damage, most realistic driving physics possible, engine damage, if you run out of fuel the car stops..no like GT that the car still stay running at 80kmh.. And how is any of that relevant to wether or not it's possible to drift an F1 car?

I wouldn't call that drifting. And if you want the extreme realism you're talking about then why play GT? Why play it if you dislike it? Are you being forced to play it? Well... I'd hope not. Also, yes, fiction can and usually is realistic. Key word, 'realistic.' It's fiction so no, it can't be real, but it can be realistic.

Edit: One more thing, @Donnced. Here, use this.

No need to use the tread you mention to me, because yes, GT6 was so disappointed to me that i sell it last month.. And went to PC with assetto Corsa and PS4 with Pcars (not really a sim like Assetto but a lot more sim that GT)

I hope really that GT7 goes to a more realistic way and so can call it a driving simulator.

WAY OT but I find it hilarious that T10 gets to have a bit of fun by including ridiculous things like limos into the game, but when PD decides to lighten things up by bending physics a bit they get slapped on the wrist.

Anyway, back to the topic please.
