I searched but couldnt find anything specific, so please point me in the right direction if its been talked about already...

I like single player quite a bit, and was looking for information on the AI in F4. I loved the AI in S2. I was wondering if there was talks about the AI improvments in F4 over F3? Anyone know?

From what I have heard the AI is no longer going to be on a easy, medium, or hard scale or it least it wont be in World Tour mode. The AI is supposed to adjust accordingly based on your skill. The way I understood it also is that your techniches is what actually teaches the AI.

AI talk starts at about 4:20

1) The AI is supposed to be adaptable, but will still feature difficulty settings. There'll be an additional one above hard, if I remember it right.
2) The AI will auto-upgrade their cars to match yours.
3) The AI seemed better at avoiding contact than FM3's, and all around more intelligent (albeit not very fast) in the Gamescom demo.

All in all, it seemed decent.

Not in World Tour mode according to what Dan said in the video above.
According to this Week in Review, there are still difficulty levels.

But, I suppose it's easily imaginable that they're adding difficulty levels that are relative to the player's skill level. For a fast driver, hard will be massively faster than for a slow one, I'd assume.

Thanks for the info guys.

Yeah it seems the AI share some stuff in comman with Shift2. Upgrading cars to match yours, and adaptable skills. Good stuff! I am getting more excited about release.

I'm pretty sure that is for single race (or the "event list")mode only. Not in "World Tour" mode. Dan specifically says in the video that there are no difficulty settings in World Tour mode. World Tour mode auto upscales to your skill level.

I just hope they don't forget to brake like in FM3. That's not easy setting that's "Suicide AI" setting.

Dan said in one of the interviews that they physically "trained" the AI for many variables on the track using the passing cars game mode. Its an unlimited amount of cars and the AI has to pass those cars and adapt to each interaction. It was a very good interview but I dont remember which one it was.

I swear I gotta know where you got your copy of FM3 man. I just don't see the things you do. I think somebody pulled a fast one on you. Two clues that you have something other than what the rest of us have:

1) Your copy of FM3 works in your PS3
2) The label on your disc is appearing to peel back revealing GT.....

I don't have races against the AI where they "forget to brake". I've raced humans who "forget" to brake. And don't get me started with GT5.

He is correct though, it only seems to happen on "easy" though, actually kind of funny watching the A.I. head right for the wall:lol:.

The latest "Under the Hood" starts with an excellent, detailed description of how AI worked in Forza 3, and how it'll work in Forza 4. On paper it sounds great. I hope they executed.

I was going to say the exact same thing t.o. Where did they get this magical copy??!

Nice:

"Finally, if you play the game with “simulation damage” setting on, we’ve disabled the “auto-rollback” feature—so if you manage to roll your ride after a pretty nasty crash, you’ll be pretty much out of luck."

I've bought FM3 again and I haven't seen the AI forget to brake once in the last few days. In fact, I haven't hadthem crash into me at all - aside from M.Rossi stubbornly holding his line here and there. But, generally, all crashes so far haven been my fault.

Then again, I'm only playing on hard and I have no clue about how the AI behaves on medium, let alone easy.

I'll have to check that out then. I don't think I ever played on "easy"

Sometimes I wonder with his posts. I just don't experience the things he's talking about. But rarely do I expect much from any game on it's easiest setting. Shooters where enemies seem to think the fact that you're shooting at them doesn't mean anything, sports games where your "defender" is suddenly a "spectator" etc. lol

I wonder if the auto-rollback feature is selectable online? Would really add to the tenseness of the racing knowing a bad one can cost you the race, for sure. A friend of mine would have been done the other night. Although he was done anyway since we were only doing 3-5 lappers:

You guys are all pretty much wrong. GT5 has awsome braking. Its called the car in front of you. :)

Ok thats cool they go into the AI. I really hope they implement it well. Sounds cool...lets hope for the execution.

I'm just looking for competitive racing with the entire grid, not just M. Rossi =)

Now this I will agree with to a point. When you're in the mix with the grid it's competitive racing to a point. But once you take the lead they seem to back off some except M. Rossi.

Race Pro was the same to a degree. You get a good distance from the AI and they seem to throw in the towel or maybe they feel they just don't want to push to hard to catch somebody they can't. Come to think of it in GT5 it's the same thing. Get a certain lead on the AI and they pretty much are out of it.

THe biggest problem, in my opinion, was that the PI fell across the grid. M. Rossi usually had the car with the highest PI, so it's no wonder he's been the one to be competitive.

I can easily picture him running towards the fastest car, screaming "Mine, mine, mine!!" in an Italian accent while pushing everyone else out of his way.

t.o. I bow to your driving skills. I found Race pro on the hardest difficulty quite tricky to get away from the AI.

Well done fella, unless I'm just crap.

The only problem I had with the AI in FM3 was the Bugatti Veyron in the S Class Championship races on hard difficulty. Are they for real with this thing?

But, the AI and damage features confirmed today sound great. Can't wait to race on the professional setting; hopefully it is a battle all the way to the checkered flag.

Race Pro on hard kicks my ass :(

I'm not that good fellas. I did cut a corner here or there and I definitely was blocking the AI whenever I could (I guess that IS racing though, LOL). Here's a vid I did. Trust me, it wasn't like I was just having my way with them. I did get off to a good launch at start too.

What sucks is the game has a cockpit view but not in replays. I raced in cockpit view.
I got so much of that game to finish though. I almost feel guilty for not finishing it.
