Forza 4 Has Superior Sound Compared To Forza 6

This has really annoyed me, I never played Forza 5 since I did not think it was worth getting at all due to the lack of content.

I used my 360, a similar car and the difference is astounding, the engine sound is so much better and the sound is louder. On my other HDMI input I had Forza 6 with the same car, switched back and forth playing for 2 minutes on each one for this test, I could clearly notice the difference.

They have failed miserably with sound, a racing game that is known for it's amazing sound has taken a huge step back, Forza 6 doesn't have much better sound than Gran Turismo 6.

You would think with Forza 6 that they would improve the sound considering this but oh no, they didn't. The footage here is taken from an off screen camera for Forza 5 but there is still a major difference, just test it yourself.

It really annoys me because I really want the Forza 4 sounds back but I know it would not be worth going back to Forza 4 due to the better gameplay, graphics and the night/weather racing.

The game needs adjustable car volume and better sounds, just test it yourself and you will notice it sounds a lot louder on the same volume, would obviously use 2 HDMI ports, 1 with your 360 and 1 with your Xbox one , both on at the same time.

I have the Agera, so I'll test it out when I get home. Although, you're comparison video is not really helping your case. FM5 is shot off screen, while FM4 is using a direct feed. That Agera does sound mean in FM4, though.

Odd thing is that I've been hearing good praise about the audio, outside of the somewhat low output it seems to have. I do not like the wet tire screeching, though. I haven't been to pleased with GT's audio, but I haven't tried all their cars, either.

F4 audio really was the best of the series IMO. Especially the engine audio. Just perfect IMO. Plus I believe we had the ability to turn up or down the engine / ambient audio. Correct me if I am wrong.

F6 has absolutely amazing ambient audio. The overall volume is for sure a few db quieter which isn't a huge problem. I just turn it up a couple db to make up for it. BUT the engine sounds have been reduced dramatically. Especially the vehicle we are in. Some sound pretty good but most are much quieter than they should from the inside view. I put a 787B engine into a Miata with so much anticipation to hear how it would sound. I could barely hear it at idle at all. If we simply had a slider for engine audio, ambient audio, and the other car audio I think everyone would be happy.

Yeah, I recall there being adjustable sliders for some individual audio settings in FM4. Wasn't there big complaints about all cars sounding to loud in general? Could have sworn that is one of the reasons why the started muffling it after FM5.

Yes some people said the engines were too loud. So they greatly muffled the engines in F5. Thought for sure they would resolve this for F6 with sliders.

I loved how the 95 Mustang sounded in Fm4, so lovely in the redline.
Hated it in Forza 5, just way too high pitched and no V8 rumble. It sounds a lot better in 6 again.

For comparison:
Fm4

Fm5

@Spitty

Perfect comparison. The F4 engine audio is very hard to top. Easily the best of the series in terms of engine audio. The engines in F4 sounds very close to how they sound in real life. Especially the muscle cars.

On a side note, the 2015 Corvette sounds very good in F6.

I can recommend the '70 Camaro and Alfa 155. Both display very good sounds right through the rev range, with the agricultural, older turbo sound of the latter being much more distinguished than the modern turbo drivel.

Pssssst. The Agera doesn't actually sound like a dragster. FM5 and 6 are more accurate.

Go do a comparison for yourself guys, if you have Forza 4 and Forza 6, you will notice a vast difference. I prefer Forza 4's sound, there should be an option to make the engine sounds louder.

FM4 sounds *very* distorted... like a teenager just discovered the overdrive knob on his guitar cab and can't help but play with it on 11. It sounds very low-fidelity in comparison. However, the player car is also much louder in the mix. (well and FM4's output volume is really high too, and FM6's is quite low compared to other games on the XB1, but that's another discussion.)

I agree, I really want a louder volume output and the ability to change the engine volume sound, I am not 100% sure but I think Forza 4 had this feature.

I think Forza 6 is much better, the sounds more depth and sound more accurate (on the whole). Try something like the E46 M3, it's much better in Forza 6 than its been on any other Forza.

I dunno man. I might have to go back to FM4 to hear the audio again, because I find FM6 to be pretty darn good when it comes to audio. In fact one of my biggest praises for the game so far is the sounds above almost every other aspect of the game. I've jumped in some cars and was stunned by the quality of the engine sounds.

Honestly, I thought the sounds of FM6 were an improvement over FM4. Sure, some of the sounds in FM4 are great, but a lot of the time; I found the sounds a bit generic or distorted.

If memory serves in previous Forza games you could adjust engine volume, tire volume and opponent car volume

Looks like a lot of you can't admit anything bad about Forza 6. The fact is, the audio output is much louder in Forza 4 than it is in Forza 6, compare it yourself.

I want Forza 6 to have a louder audio output and the ability to change the volume level of the engine because Forza 4 sounds far louder as does the engine sound.

asking for sliders for audio channels is one thing,
saying "Forza 4 Has Superior Sound Compared To Forza 6"
is another.

most will agree on the first, most will disagree on the second of your statements.

;)

As a suggestion, try some of your cars in practice / free drive with only your own car.
You can get to appreciate the audio better.

To get T10 to address the "audio volume" matter will take highlighting it on their social media.
This is where it can prevent sales or sway (general public) opinion to purchase the game or not.
So social even above their own forums is the best road (lol) forward.

Drive Club is a perfect example of how it got hammered on social media and they strived to improve the game in many ways (and still are).

OP, I think the only place where they goofed is keeping the engine sound low - people were complaining about FM4 that sound was loud and distorted (I completely disagree on that), so they made it clean and quiet I suppose. :boggled:

Here's the thing though: not all engine sound weak or quite. The Supra and RX-7 have been dramatically improved (and they are just some really good examples I've come across)...you hear more detail and character in the revs. Take the stock F50 for a spin and you'll see. ;)

I don't understand whey they decided to tame engine volume though, just don't get it.

However, volume sliders should have been there or SHOULD be there post-patch. I have to turn my sound system way up and the curbs and overhead objects passing over you sound gets really loud and bassy. Not to mention that "bink" sound as you're selecting items in the menu.
