Forza 4: Really a build up to something epic in Forza 5?

With more and more of these car packs coming out I just get a feeling like they are laying the foundation for something huge in Forza 5. It's like they are behind the scenes securing licensing left and right to have any and all races known to man in one game. Instead of their made up series they'll have actual series past and present in the game for Forza 5.

Not sure where you're getting the racing series licensing idea from, if you're talking about the car packs. But I completely agree that they're building a foundation for the future. I think the fish-out-of-water rally cars and trucks/SUVs may be a sign of what to expect from Forza Horizon.

Maybe Horizon will be more than just open roads and offroad driving -- kinda similar to your idea, perhaps Horizon will be the new home for production cars, trucks, rally, etc...and Forza Motorsport 5 will live up to its name by shifting toward a true motorsports focus. That could also help explain the delightfully unique and unexpected choices they've been making in car DLC; if there's a new game to house all of the "less track-oriented" cars, it would provide the opportunity to indulge in more of them.

I'm thinking, with inclusions like the Raptor and the Wrangler, and even the Audi and Suzuki rally cars, they might be addressing the lack of racing disciplines with the next installment. I wouldn't mind T10 taking a stab at off-roading.

I'm also of the mind that cars like the Raptor, Wrangler, Country Squire etc are being added for later inclusion in Horizon.

They are definitely building up the foundation for an automotive car culture with the inclusion of all these different types of cars, something for everyone, and I hope it ties into Horizon somehow, especially with the online community that has grown around this franchise. Can't wait to see how it plays out come E3.

I really hope that, seeing all these offroad vehicles on disk and via DLC, we'll be seeing some type of offroad events in FM5. And I hope it's not half assed either.

It's not 360-compatible, which sucks. Apparently the original Rallisport Challenge is, though.

Oh man! I am soooo ON this Rallysport Challenge bandwagon! RSC2 was awesome and I would just love to try a 3rd version on my rig. I mean, Dirt 3 is fine but RSC was just more badass.

A great part of RSC2 was the art direction and colouring. DICE did a great job so I wouldn't mind a new version made in Frostbite.

I am not sure why the car packs would make anyone think something epic is coming. They had several car packs in Forza 3 also. It is basically just a way of getting more money out of us.

I just wish they would fix the PI system so these cars could actually be made competive somewhere in the game as is only a very small percentage of the cars can actually cut the mustard in a competive race. So many cool cars that for one reason or another can never compete in any class due to the PI being wack on them. Some cars will charge you 20-30 PI for a sport tranny where others give you 2-3 PI for installing a sport tranny. Horrible and unrealistic stock gearing on many of them, Unrealistic speed, power and weight on some.

The game looks good and is fun to play but from both the realism and competive pov it drops the ball pretty badly.

Example. 70 Cougar, top speed 125 mph. I owned one myself back in the day, Bone stock top speed was just over 140. 78 TransAm in game will do 145 mph, Real life models had a top speed of 112 mph which they could get in 1/4 mile due to the 411 rear diff.

Off road racing would be cool but they really need to focus on fixing thier broken PI system first.

This. I found the car packs in FM3 to be pretty damn good but this time I've been unimpressed. A new track is what I really want but as time goes on it looks less and less likely we'll get one.

Yes, it's a shame as I don't find Forza a particularly good racing game unfortunately. The game is more about car culture and there's is nothing wrong with that, I'm just more into my purpose built race cars and championships.

Just my opinion of course!

Yup. I just love this game but it could be so much more. I like doing hotlaps and racing in private lobbies.

But if FM5 is going to be epic, they need to concentrate on the actual racing in single player mode and fix the AI in World Tour and Events. The AI as it is right now just suck. Its braking at the apex in almost every corner, messing the rythym of the player and basically making clean passes impossible without going off track.

They also need to be more creative with the events and championships and give the player the ability to create his own races with any choices he desires (opponents, track, number of laps etc...) I mean PGR4 had these options included 6 years ago...

The rest of it is just fine for me. So if they can fix the single player issues I guess it could be epic...

My opinion is, there isn't anything wrong with the racing aspect/championship setup of forza 4, except two things.

1. The hidden lobby points system makes it difficult to keep a points tally
2. The fact that you're expected or forced to have xbl gold to set up what you're looking for (this one doesn't bother me)

It's really easy to set up qualifying and practice sessions when you know how. I regularly set up SuperGT 30+min races against the AI. The only downsides for me are there are only two tracks from the last/current seasons and the AI is slow (even at their fastest options) unless you manipulate the settings to give them an advantage. i.e reduce your power or grip multipliers.

As I said, if you don't have xbl then the true racing experience of fm4 is somewhat limited, even as a solo player. I suspect this is down to Microsoft rather than T10

That would be my guess also. Probably why there isn't a system link option either.
