[...]most stock metallic colors in-game do not have flakes[...]

Yes, MOST don't. But some do. And what makes me mad is that the flakes are smaller/more subtle than the ones we have to work with. I kind of don't like you guys' love for Metal Flakes, because, although the real colors do have flakes, I feel like the one we can customize in Forza is too exaggerated. I also noticed this weekend that some gloss colors seem less shiny than others, at least on Forza Horizon 3, which is the one I was playing at the time.

Why can't we have more control like this on our colors? The only game I can think of that has something similar is Tokyo Xtreme Racer. It had the option to change the shine, didn't it? And I think maybe Driving Emotion too... but that game was awful.

This reminded me of how in GT5 and 6, colors within the same category were not necessarily only different in color value, but could be less shiny, or have the light reflections be bigger or smaller (don't know what in the paint makes it reflect differently like that), the metallic shine also could be different, and I loved it. Shame the paint system was brought down by having to acquire them first from a car or event. I mean, it could have worked, if you could simply select any color you wanted, but it had different prices (an exotic color like an official Ferrari Rosso Corsa would cost more than a basic Ford color, even if both were the same type). And the more unique "Gran Turismo" colors could be prizes.

EDIT: As an example, in GT6, the Jaguar XKR-S we win by getting half of the stars in the International B Class comes in a black color called Ebony, which is less shiny than normal, making it seem darker. Basically it's like it's somewhere in-between gloss and matte.

And the car I noticed the less shiny color in Forza was the Land Rover they give you. Don't remeber which color.

@RodSk8Dude We do the best we can with the tools that we are given to work with. To date, we have the best car color chart for Forza, bar none. What we have accomplished here is nothing short of amazing. I can’t wait to see what @JaCor653 has to say in regards to what you’ve said. You do realize that a lot of cars do have ‘Metal Flake’ paint jobs in real life, right?

I saw the post, and I could have said something in response, but honestly, I don't really care. @RodSk8Dude brings up a good point about more advanced color customization tools, but we all know that Forza will probably not adopt such new tools any time soon. As you said, we do the best will what we have at our disposal. I am not worried or even interested in the fact that there could be methods to producing more accurate colors than the ones we have. Plus, if we somehow were granted the use of these kinds of tools and techniques, think about how much work we would have to put into redoing every color we have done. I think we should just keep doing things the way we are and not worry about any slight inaccuracies caused by not having more detailed color customization tools.

I should be releasing my version today or tomorrow. School has started for me again, so I won't be as active on here as I was in the last month or so. I'll still try to post colors here when possible.

Also, Kiln Red was on my list of colors to do, and it was going to be part of my next batch of colors to do.

I didn’t know and had no way of knowing you were going to do Kiln Red. Since mine is already on the chart I’d like it to remain there as well please :)

I’ll be pretty active here as I have time to make colors before and after work and on my days off :)

I wasn't implying, suggesting, or hoping that I would replace your version with mine. Yours can stay there. I haven't even made the color yet. It was just on my to-do list. I'll just make it for my own spreadsheet and leave it at that.

Ohhh...I didn’t know what the implications were, that’s all. I wasn’t sure what you meant.

Yeah, I'd appreciate it because I need an understanding lol. I was quite confused when I initially looked at it, looked at it outside, and then went to the Festival. Just need to understand it. (sorry, it sounded like I was being toxic on purpose - was never my intention)

The lighting in the Festival is artificial and it does not show colors properly. It tends to make colors look darker and more saturated than they really are. The lighting is also not direct, so there are shadows and low-lit areas that distort the appearance of the color. It is hard to produce accurate colors inside the Festival, although it can be done. @MadaraxUchiha took some of his pictures at the Festival when he started doing this, but it is not common practice. If you put a color on your car--any color, not just a replica color--and go to the Festival, the color will look off compared to how it should look. @SlowJRNalist, I can promise you that the colors you requested that @MadaraxUchiha did are accurate. They just looked off in the Festival for the reasons I just described.

I learned about the direct sunlight thing from you, truth be told :)

I've only ever used Edinburgh Castle, Bamburgh Castle, or a sunny race to take pictures of my paint colors. Way back when Forza Horizon 4 came out, I did some work in the paint booth and I took most of my pictures at the Festival. After a couple of months, I realized the things I mentioned in my last post. I still worked on liveries and paint colors at the Festival, but I would take pictures during a sunny race. You can see what I am talking about here.

I kind of knew about the importance of direct sunlight since I started playing Forza 6 and Horizon 3 in 2016. I guess I was just being lazy or something by taking pictures at the Festival back then. I'm not worried or disappointed by it; it's not like the liveries being photographed really mattered. They were either simple designs or transferred liveries from Forza 7. Now I know better and I put time into taking good, well-lit photos of my colors and liveries.
