SVX/FTO are very cool and the finally, the Lagonda!

Back to back updates were we've gotten a Toyota, Mitsubishi and a Subaru as well.

Very nice to see the backstage pass being implemented finally! Them being in the Forzathon Shop each week as well will give me something to spend my FP on too haha.

Now Horizon 5 sits on 882 cars (by my count) - the big question is, what number will we finish up on?

Will we eclipse 900? 925? Very interested too see how long support continues for now we are almost at Year 3.

Toyota Soarer? Mitsubishi FTO? Subaru SVX? All signs point to FH Japan... And if they announce it on the eve of PS5 Pro launch, the better! :mischievous:
My bad, just woke up from a nap.

Is there going to be an XBOX event on November? :D

This seasons Toyota Soarer is the 10th new-to-Forza Toyota that has been added in FH5. I think thats quite noteworthy after not being present at FM4s launch. With 26 Toyotas we are also nearing GT7's 40 different vehicles...

  • 2023 Toyota Camry TRD
  • 2022 Toyota GR86
  • 2021 Toyota GR Yaris
  • 2020 Toyota GR Supra
  • 2020 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro
  • 2019 Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro
  • 2019 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro
  • 1991 Toyota Sera 1965 Toyota Sports 800

  1. Ford: 27
  2. Lamborghini: 12
  3. Porsche: 11
  4. Toyota: 10
  5. Ferrari, Nissan: 9
  6. Audi, BMW, Chevrolet, VW: 8

928 and the final car is the 928 lol

Oi bud! Stop nicking my ideas... ;)

As for the update, I'm definitely jumping on the FH6=Japan bandwagon at this point.

Also, I'm glad the Backstage cars are in pairs this time around. More chance of getting a car you want or one you are missing.
Please accept my most humble apology bud.

I'm still thinking we're off to China for FH6, that's following my head though. Following my heart though? I want South Africa.

I think we will eclipse 900, we are too close not to. Thats basically 2 more updates and 2 more car packs. But I do think we are closing in on the end of life and it wouldn't surprise me if December is the last for car content and maybe they do small touch up updates for the following 6 months until they announce FH6...

It's bad enough in the car categories...

I think this assumes we get four cars an update going forward--also considering the whole holiday update usually bringing two Series with it thing. If we get a couple surprise 40 point car updates, that's going to radically alter this calculus, but if they pull the plug with Horizon Track Day instead, we'll be sitting just short of 900 cars either way.

I remember reading somewhere that it was supposed to be acceptable in American English but I'm very glad to hear that this isn't the case.
When abbreviating a decade span, put an apostrophe before the numbers (facing the correct way) but NOT before the "s." A decade cannot possess anything!

NOT 60’s, but ’60s.

I hang my head in shame.......
Relax, Steve.

I don't think we grumpy grammar gruppenführers want to punctuation-check punters like you. It's the Playground staff that are paid to write these captions who we should expect to be more professional in their use of grammar.

It’s the second time this week that I bump into Microsoft’s old Clippy assistant, and before that I had forgotten all about him for the last twenty years. Kinda freaky.

In other news, nice cars.

Is anyone else wondering when FH 6 is coming out? How can 5 still be on the go? I needs a new map or something.
I'm willing to bet that this is either the second-to-last major update or third-to-last. With Horizon Backstage returning, we're definitely getting closer to the end. We just don't know when that will be, and we still have the November and Holiday updates this year.

I think we might see a reveal sometime either late next year or early 2026 considering 5 is entering its endgame now.

I'm not upset, they added some great cars, as I didn't expect the Lagonda and it's nice to see the SVX and FTO return, but they really missed some golden opportunities.
Had they added a Mexican Sentra B13 it could've been "1990s... time for the Tsuru".

Nice additions. So, we have two new to Forza cars and two returning cars, right? 😊
Yep, two New-to-Forza, one New-to-Horizon (the FTO wasn't in any Horizon game before now but was last seen in FM2023) and one returning car. The Soarer barely counts as New-to-Forza because it's the JDM model of the 1997 Lexus SC300 you can get from the Autoshow, but it has a higher performance engine that wasn't available on the Lexus, so it's essentially distinct.

Well since it wasn't announced at E3 or that lil Xbox showcase, we knew it wasn't gonna b this year. And since GTA VI is supposed to drop around this time next year and Forza also likes to drop around this time for Christmas sales, it won't be 2025 either.

I don't think any game that wants to make sales will drop next year after June. So ealiest we get the next FH is end of 2026. FH5 is the GTA V of the Horizon series. It's still gonna b a while

Plus, a different badge 😉 and I think the interior consists of cloth seats rather than leather which I'm guessing the SC300 would have? So, not quite as luxurious.

Yeah, the SC300 has leather seats, I checked just now. The Soarer model in-game might also have leather seats, but we'll have to wait for Thursday to know that for sure.

Something that just crossed my mind, actually--it looks like the Lagonda's going to come mated to its three-speed automatic transmission rather than the five-speed manual it could also be equipped with. Considering the bad acceleration that leaves it with, at least in comparison to some of the other Retro Saloons in the game (its closest competitor in the acceleration department seems to be the Bentley Turbo R, which had a much more powerful engine)... what are the chances the Lagonda ends up in Cult Cars instead of Retro Saloons?

I would definitely put the Lagonda in Cult Cars. It is 34 years old, after all and, as mentioned, doesn't really have a close rival, with perhaps the exception of the Bentley Turbo R.
Btw, I checked the interior of the Soarer and it definitely has fabric seats. Unless they decide to model leather seats specifically but I doubt it.

I'm happy to know the 575M is going to be easier to get from now on. Because there's NO WAY people aren't voting for the AE86, no weeb worth their anime body pillow are gonna pass this up (why did I became mean like Mighty No 9's trailer for a second there? I though I was happy the Ferrari was going to win?)

Posting this here because this is more directed at Back to the '90s itself. I looked through the Playlist yesterday, and I actually think the concept behind it is somewhat sound; it's essentially a remix of the usual Playlist regulars when you get down to it. Without Hard-to-Finds in the seasonal rewards, placing them in the same context as European Automotive's Exclusive Events makes a lot of sense. The usual Photo Challenge prompts actually still exist, it's just that you've got three of them buried in the Daily Challenges (and thus only worth one point) instead of counting towards the weekly Photo Challenge. It feels like they're trying to build out what these Playlists will look like when the plug is pulled and new players have to start hunting for the FOMO cars that missed the Backstage Pass for some reason.

But, that being said... As satisfied as I am with what we did get car-wise, Soarer aside, I feel like even this is a bit of a waste. There was absolutely a set of Playlist rewards out there that could have used the Lagonda as its headline car and they passed it over. Sure it wouldn't have included as many JDM cars, but there was a happy medium between '90s performance and '90s vibe that I just didn't see until literally this morning.

European 1990s Icons:
Summer: 1990 Aston Martin Lagonda
Autumn: 1999 BMW Z8 (New-to-Horizon by technicality of FH4's James Bond Edition being the Z8's first appearance in Horizon, but they would probably have played this as a returning car)
Winter: 1999 Aston Martin DB7 Vantage
Spring: 1990 Jaguar XJ-S (Returning from FH4)

Right there, two New-to-Forza, one New-to-Horizon, and one returning car, just like we got in this update. Sure you'd skip the middle of the decade, and sure it's very biased in favor of the British, but that'd be a grand tourer, a Retro Saloon, and two Retro Sports Cars. Best of both worlds right here. Granted, if we do get the DB7 and Z8 at some point it'd probably be in a 2000s focused season because of how close they are to the year 2000, but again, it'd have at least made up for the last two updates bringing not that much more than upgrade fodder, the Evo III aside.
