To be honest, it depends entirely on the color being requested.

If I can find the actual code I'll use that, if I can find the palette swatch itself I'll use that (albeit only for flat colors), but if the only solution is using a reference image than I'll grab a couple of them in varying lighting scenarios and sample all of them from different areas around the car (lights, darks, mid-tones) and simulate the color as accurately as possible.

Can you try Dark Blue Metallic? It's a Chevrolet color, here's pictures of the color from my car, I tried to give you some good reference points for the darks, lights, and other tones, however, I'd like it closer to the way it looks in the sunny pictures: :
