so it seems that most of heavy work on Horizon PS5 update seems done, so likely at this point T10 focus has came back fully to FM while PG fully focus on FH6 from now on

i was trying to compile a list of cars that could come back on this update besides the FH5 Nissan Pack cars (Be-1, Pao and maybe Nissan Figaro), i will try finsh those as fast i can
Tbh, I think the main reason for the absence of any new track since december, and the feeling that T10 haven't been fully focused on FM '23, is that they wanted to make sure that everything would be ready in time for the BIG anniversary update. I'm sure they've helped some with FH5 as well, but Panic Button should have done most of the heavy lifting 😊

Edit: @ykiki I had that same bug many, many months ago, back in december '23. I'm surprised T10 haven't fixed that yet 😬

Hello guys, the game is currently on sale, if I purchase it right now. Will there be too many reward cars missing or unable to currently get, kinda like how FH5 does it with the playlist?

The game has about 500 cars in its base content.

There are a number of time-limited cars (about 45-50), many of which have expired.

This list should help: https://www.kudosprime.com/fm/carlist.php?source=src_prize

As far as i'm aware, there's been 2 reward cars at least in each "series" since release, we're at Series 19 now, so that means you've basically "missed" at least 36 cars that will be unavailable. However that still leaves >500 cars to play with.

There are hints elsewhere that the reward cars may start returning in the near future, but that's only rumour for now.

It's possible that we might know more about that either when the "Anniversary" update arrives or soon after.

There are also lots of "driver suits" that you've missed but that is less important arguably.

Graphics are polished to a sheen, the AI needs work but they are still working on that, I believe.

The game still doesn't have a career mode to speak of, but again we might hear more on that soon if we are lucky 🤞 - they previously announced things that haven't arrived though, so I'm keeping off the hype train for now.

We're expecting the next series to be something a bit different, we already know the new track of course.

I play the game on pc gamepass but like FH5 I planned to buy it on steam on sale eventually. I told myself I would wait until we at least knew for sure how they are going to bring back access to the expired reward cars before going through with that purchase, so I cannot blame anyone else for doing the same.

If you go to the FM23 autoshow, there are around 640 cars available now, I think.

Don't forget that while each series gave us 2 cars which were time limited, they also added a bunch of cars directly to the autoshow (mostly those spotlight cars from each weekly seasonal series).

I really wish they would stop ****ing with AI strength. Until a week or two ago I could run races at level 6 in most classes and divisions and the races would be really close. But now anything I try at 6 lets that lead AI car take off like a rocket. But if I drop back to 5 I win by a mile. This one in D tonight was one of the worst.

I'm going to run that again in a different car and see if it happens again or it was just a one off. I didn't get held up either. I think I started 7th so it wasn't like I started 18th and had to bash my way through. That Porsche just took off into the distance.
Tonight I did get around to running this race again in a different car. This is how I wish all races could turn out. Started 5th, the usual AI bashing in the first sector on the opening lap pushed me to 7th, got into 4th by the time we got to the long stretch before the chicane, but that Mustang just took off an opened up a 8+ second lead by lap 3, but I kept pushing and caught him on the penultimate lap and won. But it did prove my point that the previous race was a fluke. It's just so frustrating when that happens.

Turn 10 is not the ones working on ps5 port. Its panic button

It still doesn't beat FM4

I fully agree. Fm4 was the peak. It was so unbelivable good.
Playing fm3 now again first with project forza plus mod. I have so much fun with it. So much varity with thr career mode. Will play fm4 after with that mod as well.

You haven't even played this game. It's hard to take anything you say seriously.
Say what you want but you will never change my mind.
I have had my eye on it if anything changed.

But as long as they keep pushing that fomo crap, the single player is an absolute joke. not adding drag racing, until those things is resolved i am not really intrested to play it end of story.

I have had nearly all forza titles since i bought an x360 back in 2012 and feelt in love with the series once i played fm3-fm4. Fm7 was the last i bought and i was so dissapointed with that game. I had an eye for everything the showcased for the last one. Watch everything there was to be seen for gameplay. Nothing ever caught my intrest. Could that change possibly. But seems very unlikely.

Just because you are fan of a franshise dosent mean you have to like everything they do. Thats a thing called cope. I always do my research before i am buying my games. The info is out there even if you not played the games. Thats what we have media. And all those youtube channels for.

All i sad was that fm4 is the peak of the franshise. And if that offended you thats your problem. I am far from alone with that statement. Its considered the best fm in the franshise for a good reason.

I think T10 give PD a bloody nose with Fujimi in the next update. 💪

And while I think FM 23 not having a big career was a huge mistake, none of the older games had a free play mode like 23, you were limited to certain cars on certain tracks and certain weather/time of day conditions. Personally I could happily stick to free play but the FOMO events eat up my time with the game.

Anyone who might have reached prestige level 1 (Total level 1,001) having the XP Bar always show as full? I can't really plan my next whole driver level race because of that. It shows as the progress bar being fully yellow no matter what the TNL ('Till next level xp) is.

FM23 summarised in a nutshell.

I stopped doing the FOMO events as I was doing nothing else each month. They even increased it from 16+16 to 16+18 events when they reworked Open Tour into 6 classes.

At the moment all i do each month is some races to unlock the driver suits, while I wait for some kind of different approach from T10. Might not have to wait too much longer 🤞

I've taken the view that we can reasonably surmise that eventually the FOMO cars will return somehow, even if we don't know how or when.

I'd like T10 to do something similar to The Crew Motorfest where the summit cars are winnable via the permanent "Playlist Legacy" events about 6 months later, and the same applies for the Main Stage car rewards which return for purchase via the Custom Mode currency ("Prestige tickets").

By all means, T10, have the FOMO tours each month, but please provide a time delayed alternative as well.

In my opinion, the FH and FM way of doing FOMO is extremely tiresome and, frankly, feels "outdated" when compared to The Crew Motorfest.

I havent noticed but also may not have been paying attention, I'll take a closer look next time I play and report back

The thing that I find a little annoying with the time-limited cars isn’t the fact that they’re time-limited, but that there is zero way to get them after they’re gone.

In Horizon you can try your luck at the Auction House, or hope they come to Backstage Pass. Motorsport lacks that sort of thing right now which makes the time-limited content more frustrating for late joiners.

It's adorable when you lecture people who have actually played a game on whether they should like it or not. We all have criticisms of the game but there are several things it does better than FM4. That's not cope, it's first-hand experience.

That's a funny thing to say on a website forum that's filled with cope for a thing called GT7.

How is the single player a joke? I'd like to know. Seeing as they are 3-4-5 race championships to complete. Not sure what the joke is. Maybe they could have a bit more accountability or purpose be having your finishing position matter in passing the championship but that's my opinion. Drag racing is the deal breaker though? Alrighty then.
You would be appalled to hear that us PC sim racing addicts have to create our own championships, our own races. Now please don't faint, but there is no career. You have fun from creating realistic races and scenarios, the fun comes from the realistic physics and feedback through a wheel or even a motion rig.
FM's Free Play choices and car classes are the best out of anything in it's class. The physics and FFB, and this is the important one because you'd have to try this out yourself, are surprisingly nice and feel familiar in the realm of the serious sims out there. But it still has that gamey fun feel. This is a good thing. The slip angle of the cars could be argued as being a bit too forgiving but the tire model is actually really nice.
It takes a set of nuggets to come in here and talk like that, I'll give you that though.

The only thing where FM4 is better than the current FM it's personality and presentation:

A proper video narrated by Jeremy Clarkson which, whether you stomach him or not, it's a mission statement for the game:

It had a proper game intro and song:

Arguably FM4 was better then than any contemporary GT game, just as the NFL 2K games were better than the stagnant Madden franchise, but it's just hard to go against something that has rooted into the culture, and GT got better thereafter.

But anyways, as a game, FM6 was superior to FM4 (Porsche returned, just for starters), and the current FM is IMO, the best in the franchise's history, it's just short on bells and whistles.

This is a funny statement.

If you watched content about a game that allows you to race/drive a wide range of cars that can be fitted with a wide range of upgrade parts around a fairly wide range of tracks in a fairly wide range of conditions and you saw nothing that caught your interest, then racing games might not be for you.

While it's a shame we can't create championships in free play, I never run out of ideas for free play races, whether it's based on real life or taking inspiration from other games I've played over the years.
Same. I've done some wild stuff in freeplay like 70s F1 vs Forza P2, P1 and Proto-H combined racing with 60s F1 cars, Mustangs vs Miatas, Group 5 cars vs Ferrari 488 Challenge, etc. But also lots of realistic ones too which some I re-race but just tweak the time of day/weather combo.

Back to FM23...

I'm starting to think that the reason why they haven't given us the McMurtry Spierling yet is simply because the game engine aero system can't cope with the electric fan car physics....

Oh, and this is WELL worth watching.

Doubtful - the Spierling is a car with very impressive performance, true, but it's hardly physics-defying, and we already have cars with similar levels of maximum downforce (chief amongst them, the Valkyrie AMR Pro) in the game; the only difference is that the McMurty delivers most of that downforce actively, thanks to its extractor fan - which makes it, if anything, easier to simulate.

(Of course there's other complicating matters, like tire wear calculations, that could give some headaches)
