I knew they will not go full endurance races as many hoped...

The game doesn't have a save feature in the middle of the race. Test Drive LeMans on the Dream cast was able to save the game during a pit stop, so you would be able to resume the race later if you wanted. Forza probably cannot do this and I doubt it can simulate stints till the end of the race, Or even simulate a driver change and have the player resume at a set time. Actual endurance races were never on the table.
