Forza Motorsport Update 19: Porsche Powers Up

Yes, the quality of the scans aren't close to GT7's meticulous detail
It's alright. The physics, tire model and FFB well make up for that. The models in FM are better than a lot of the PC sims out there though anyways. The DLC car selection makes up for it taking 9 months to model a car in GT7 for sure.

Really? I hear the opposite, and I'm inclined to agree... the only thing FM has over proper sims is a functional pit, everything else physics-wise is meh, and I don't even like sims.

I'm not going to agree with that. Being that I use PC sims 95% of the time anyways, FM is a lot more similar than GT7 comes close to. After being on LMU, rF2, AMS2, ACC, and the like, FM has a similar feeling on a wheel. A lot more information is being transmitted. You can actually feel the tires go up and over curbs, jolt on the serrations. GT7 has a canned effect.
In FM you can feel a lot more suspension load and weight transfer through the wheel. Actual bumps you run over in FM are all felt. In GT7 it seems as though your car is running over a bump but yet nothing through the wheel.
FM has an actual tire model that changes with pressure adjustments. More pressure equals a snappier FFB and reaction, especially on curbs. Lower pressure smooths out all transition and too much can make a car feel a bit sluggish in cornering. Likewise there is more of a consideration to tire temperatures. You have Inner/middle/outer temps and that helps with determining pressures. Cold tires are really felt. However, hot tires don't stay hot very long and should be looked at. Tires don't instantly get cool again.
The slip angle in FM is also a lot more realistic. Instead of being terrified when the rear end slips even a little bit in GT7, FM feels more realistic and it isn't the end of the world if the tires start to slide a bit. If anything the tire slip angle might be a bit too forgiving.

They both are gamey and should be. That's what they are striving for. FM is just more closer to what the sim experience is. Hearing the opposite and trying it are two different things. I hear people say the opposite too and the only thing they've they've ever owned was a playstation. I even prefer the controller feeling on FM and I'm terrible on a controller after years on a wheel.

That's good to hear. FM4 is still my favourite racing game ever and I would love nothing more than for Turn 10 to release a banger of a game again.

You sound eminently qualified to judge then! FM is miles better at being an actual sim than any previous title, the physics and feel through a decent wheel are really satisfying & detailed.
