FREE ROAM MULTIPLAYER

It’d make sense if some spots were rendered. The Parking garage/pit area at Tokyo Expressway. Drive up to the roof of the building and snap some pics or hang out with other players on the roof, while in the Meeting Place.

Free Roam at Willow Springs. Drive an off-road vehicle to each layout.

Big circuits like Nurburgring and Fuji. Unlocking the service & access roads, parking areas and kart tracks.

No, I'm good ta. That said, a photo mode within a lobby would be awesome, kinda building on what 05XR8 has said. If you're not racing in the lobby then having a photomode within spectator would be cool, with specific spots to position yourself that you can't get to in-car?

I completely disagree. There are other racing and car culture centric games out there with free roam maps and they have a very arcade like feel and look to them. Driving around a fictional city completing weird missions to unlock parts, or get money, playing cat and mouse games with cops and let’s face it, (for some) playing wreckfest with other players driving around just to be a jerk, is not at all what Kaz has ever been about with the GT series.
GT is based on owning cars to use at the track, not driving around a city agitating cops and causing mayhem.

Now, would it be cool to see some scenes where say you go to the garage and a quick clip shows the car you’re in rolling up to it? Or when you go from the Garage to the racetrack there’s a quick scene of your car being loaded into a trailer to head to the track or being unloaded at the track? Maybe, but we’re talking a lot of time and resources dedicated to adding that into a game where it’s not adding any value. In fact, most people would likely get very annoyed with it after the first few weeks because no matter how cool it looked, it would be wasting their time every time they changed locations.

I Don’t see the big idea in not making a free roam map honestly you would get soooo many more active players a day than ever before. It’s the best thing you can add to this game EVERYBODY WILL LOVE IT .
We can't add or make anything. We have nothing to do with the development of Gran Turismo.

With the number of posts I’ve been seeing recently that incorrectly assume that this website is affiliated with PD in some way, maybe there should be a disclaimer on the account creation screen?

Just play Forza Horizon. Playground Games made a good copy of Test Drive Unlimited.
A free roam mode by PD would just be empty and stale...a disaster. A waste of time and resources.

I doubt it'll help. We get about a dozen messages a day through the Contact Form asking for GT7 support or blaming us for something, and that literally contains this text above the form itself:

Gran Turismo 7 Support

GTPlanet does not produce, sell, or distribute Gran Turismo games and does not provide support for any PlayStation or Polyphony Digital products or services.

Imo free roam would be nice in some forms, I would like it if it just meant that all parts of a track are open, for example a time trial at Alsace, where you can drive at both the main track and test track in one session. I think a full free roam map wouldn’t be a reasonable thing to add to a game about track racing. Maybe a small one for if the player needs a tutorial on basic racing stuff, as like a side accessory to the license tests.

PD could make a game like Forza Horizon, where an open world map would make sense, but not in GT.

As many above I'd rather GT work on it's strengths than add a feature simply because other games have it, it's not needed here and IMO wouldn't add much to the experience.

The new TDU does look fantastic though I'm looking forward to seeing that as it is the games main strength and what I would expect the work to have gone into.

I am of the opposite opinion.
Free roaming doesnt belong into a game that has put its distinct focus on track racing.
Nor would I see any appeal in it personally, the car list is pretty "limited" for a road cruising simulator.
Imagine all the tracks being on a map, linked together with roads you could drive to.

I will never get this idea. Like trying to add a shooter up element to a FIFA game or something. GT is a racing game. If you want free roam why not put a different game in your PS4/5.
It is "the real driving simulator" 🙃 we have scapes tho.

I already did while doing my first comment to this topic, and I dont see how this fits into GT.
It would be road cruising simulator to me.
The main focus would be a global GPS (or better) accurate map to allow you to literally freeroam everywhere.
I dont think this is reasonable to ask to be in GT games.

A shoot em up mode in Fifa? Hold up, this guy's on to something!

If PD isn't willing or able to give us a city track based on a real location because it reportedly takes 5 times time resources and effort to model them with current gen fidelity, I can only imagine how many eons it'd take them to give us an open world map.

I can't remember where I read that Kaz interview. If someone could link it for me, it'd be much appreciated.

I'd be happy if I could just use the bridge to gantry layout of Nurburgring on the lobbies again....

A entire game map for free roam would be best reserved for a GT spin off game, which is not Kaz and PD style.

Just port over Sierra, that'll do it for me.
This is probably the closest we'd ever get to an open world GT, which is fine by me because Sierra was a really nice track to just cruise around on in GT6. It'd look insane in GT7 quality.

I think free roam is a bit overkill, however i really miss the GT5 open lobbies on the likes of the Top Gear Test track, a few of these fun tracks to cruise about, drag race etc on would be a much welcome addition.

They wouldn't need to change much either just update it. The layout was near perfect. It's great cruiser alternative to the intensity of nordscheliefe
