I have a fat ps3 wich I bought on the release date when ps3 were new, Shift 2 has not frozen on me yet and i have played it solid for two days now. A friend of mine has a slim ps3 wich is 3 months old and Shift 2 freezes to the point where it is getting very frustrating. He got the game today and it froze 4 times in the 3 hours I spent there....

Mine froze once in the garage, and a couple of times in loading screens between races in a series.

It has frozen on me only once during a loading, never during a race, but in the garage, it has frozen so many times I lost count.

This and the input lag makes me wonder the same thing that I was asking myself with CoD: BO.

Have they ever did some serious beta testing of the game before releasing it?

I came across a comment on the NFS forums from a user that said turning off the vehicle sounds solved the freezing issue for him (on 360). He then followed up with this :

"I have now resorted to making my own sound effects as I must have the vehicle sound turned off to play. This is causing arguments with my roommate as they don't appreciate my interpretation of the engine noises and tire sounds. EA, along with my gaming experience, this is your fault too. Please hurry and fix this."

Thought that was worth sharing

haha thats funny. think EA need to go around my neighbohood and apologize for all the loud cursing i did yesterday because their game made me do it

They need to patch the PC version too, the game was crashing my graphics drivers. The advice i got was to update to the latest drivers, Catalyst 11.3 (previous 11.x ones caused crashes and BSOD, but these seemed to work)....

However, i load up Shift 2 with the new drivers to find that none of the cars have any textures, reflections or shadows and are just black shapes... and my fps dropped by about 20.

Not impressed, last night the game wasnt too bad, but has been crashing more today.

Mine seems to freeze every time at the exact same point when I'm tuning/test driving my impreza (works) on nurnburgring using my g27 wheel on a fat ps3 that is several years old.

Very annoying. Wiped a fingerprint off the disc and will try again now...

I'm running with an nvidia card and havent had any crashes.

On the XB360, Tokyo Circuit races are prone to lockup immediately following the race- and it appears to have to do with the timing of starting the replay in the background and when you hit the "continue" or "play again" buttons. I didn't have any issue when doing drift events at that track. It seems if you let the race end, and allow the replay to run for about 10 seconds in the background before the hitting the button to proceed, you reduce your chances of a lockup. Sometimes, it will "play again" and remove all the HUD data from the screen. If this happens, the race run, the results will not save, the deck will lock, and you'll have to cold kill with the power button. Regardless, it needs to be fixed . . .
