So I guess I have been in a bubble but I was not prepared for that race. I use the Cayman exclusively for Gr.4 so when I entered this race I found it kind of odd that it had a forced pit, but that I could wait until lap 7 or 8. I also could not understand why I finished 15th or lower 2 races in a row despite starting top 10. Oh yeah I also noticed that in both races I was literally the only Cayman entered. It took me 3 races to figure out that I was the ONLY one pitting so in the 4th race I didn't pit and ran out of gas.

Yes, I am that stupid.

So after that I bought a Megane, cut 2 sec off my lap time and started finishing top 5.

So my question is, am I literally the only person in the world who was not aware of this?
Is there some way to know going in that while your car technically is allowed to enter, it is useless due to fuel usage?
Or this some other embarrassingly simple explanation?

I had a similar situation with my BMW M4. To do it without pitting required running very lean and therefore very slow, even though the M4 was not fast to begin with compared to the FF cars like the Megane and Sirocco.

It just re-enforced my Gr.3 preference to 4 at the moment.

There is a lovely thread discussing different fuel efficiency levels here which helps give you an idea.

I used the M4 by running it at fuel map 2 and drafting for the first half of the race. The tires hold out better than the Megane's so the last few laps you can pass a bunch of them. I wanted to race with the viper yet that one falls short both ways.
