From the makers of Timesplitters comes 'Haze'

You know seriously, by the time any of these Sony games comes out I will have done one of three things already...

1. Died of natural causes
2. Sold my PS3
3. My PS3 died from no use

I was very excited about this game but it looks like its not coming out for the 360 for a long time. I am a huge fan of the Timesplitters series and Haze has a 4 player co-op.

The first demo for Haze is now available from any of the EU PSN Stores. 👍

... and it really sucks big honking wang.

Bland graphics, bland gameplay, bland everything.

A complete and utter let-down.

Nothing in the demo reminded me of anything in the Timesplitters games.

It just feels like a generic shooter in a sea of other generic shooters.

Not impressed.

It has some big shoes to fill ever since I got RSV2... MGS4 was already a bust, I don't know if this will fare much better seeing as I anticipated MGS4 more. Sucks too because I really wanted to like MGS4 and use my PS3 more. Good thing GT5p is on it's way.

I was kinda skeptical of this game from the start... I tried the demo and well, Pass. It's just not going to cut it.

I'll be getting the game. I love free radical's games and Haze is a pretty good game. I like it anyways. The graphics aren't that bad and besides that the demo is the build from E3 last year. It is 9 MONTHS old. Go watch some of the new gameplay videos. They look quite a bit better than the demo does.

HAZE, Your Questions Answered
Published on May 14, 2008 by Aymeric Evennou // Community Developer, HAZE
Hi guys, this is Ubi_Wuzzi! First I wanted to thank everyone for reading my first post last week about the demo of HAZE. Your comments and feedback are much appreciated, so please keep them coming.

Since last week, I hope you enjoyed the demo and that you did not make any abusive use of Nectar. From what we saw, it seems that you enjoyed playing this demo. Yet, we noticed that some of you found the demo too easy, for those ones the suggestion is to try the Hard mode. (You may also be glad to know that an Ultra Hard mode is unlockable in the final version of the game!) From some other comments I read, I wanted to clarify that the game runs at 720p resolution.

Now for this week’s entry, I brought answers to several of your questions. I hope they make things clearer, otherwise feel free to post additional questions here or check out the “Ask the Devs!” thread in the Haze forums.
________

From k.j.khaos :
Will the game support four-player Co-op offline or just online?
The four-players Co-op mode is supported online, and offline via LAN by linking two PS3 with two players split screen per PS3.

From the_icon :
Will the game support 4 player co-op and multiplayer in split screen? How much of the game-play takes place in open environments vs enclosed spaces?
The game supports two players split screen per PS3 in Co-op and multiplayer. You can connect two PS3 with 2 players playing split screen to make it four players. And you can even LAN four consoles to play four versus four… if you want to. And, it’s an even split for gameplay in open vs closed environments. It ranges from claustrophobic firefights to stunning unbroken vistas - but you will be too busy with the action to take in the view.

From P_tear_griffin :
Will there be customizable elements to some weapons aside from nectar enhancement?
No need. The power of Nectar and the rebels resourcefulness will give you all the firepower you need.

From wocyob:
How long will the game be?
The campaign will take you through twelve places, but there are no levels as usually meant. The whole story will take place over three long days and nights, without any loading times whatsoever. The time you will need to go from the beginning to the end pretty much depends on your skills and the level of difficulty you chose. It can be shorter if you are especially skilled or much longer if you are especially average!

From whoelse:
What inspired you to make Haze including the use of ‘Nectar’?
Nectar is everything. It shapes the gameplay throughout.

From ghamdikh1:
Does this game support the SIXAXIS?
Yes, and it can get you out of some life threatening situations… As an example, you can use it to pull out a knife or extinguish flames when you are on fire.

From ghamdikh1:
Does this game have an option to install the game to the hard drive?
We install some data, but not the whole game. The disc will still be needed to launch the game.

lol, wow... it's gonna be $44 to start. I guess it's even more of an EPIC FAIL than the demo.
Link?

Amazon, like all the sites I looked for it, has it listed for $60.

BTW: What is the value in claiming something is awesome or an epic failure before you have even played the full game... heck, you were already claiming that MGS4 was an epic failure, or something like that based only on a beta of MGO. :odd:

I played about an hour's worth of the game from the beginning earlier today on a friend's PS3, spectated by 3 other friends, and it's average, if that. The more accurate word is "annoying".

The shooting is okay, if a little awkward. The nectar is a good addition and has good potential, since it increases your speed, increases strength and health regeneration. But it is pretty glitchy. When you shoot people coming in on the dropships they sometimes randomly dissapear. The driving is pretty poor. I wasn't expecting realistic driving, of course, but when you do fall off a ridge and hit the floor from about 70mph I do expect to AT LEAST flip over instead of coming to A COMPLETE HAULT like I hit a brick wall. The hill I hit was, no kidding, 4ft tall. Then some explosions happend and baulders came crashing down on me randomly. The baulders fell in front of me and I drove straight through them like they weren't there. Then my vehicle completely blew up and I didn't even take damage, let alone die. What the hell?

Then there is the dialogue - it's appaulingly cheesy. The guys are extremely cocky and you just want to punch them in the face. My friends wanted to do the same.

The graphics are below average. They are definitely not what they seemed to be in the trailers. Most of the leaves are 2D and look flat and boring. At least the character models and lighting seem alright. There is lots of pop-up and loading issues as well. The cut-scenes we had had random detail problems, and randomly half way through a 2 minute cutscene the gunship's door's detail turned into the quality of a PS1 game for at least 10 seconds... and popped back into detail again. The previous dropship cutscene had a VERY random pause of dialogue and some music started playing for at least 10 seconds. Then they started talking again. I and my friends were completely baffled as so why this happened. Then there's the pop-up you get with objects randomly appearing, to the boxes's details being loaded. It isn't very bad but compared to what I'm used to it's very dissapointing.

Overall 5/10. I was looking forward to this game, and I'm now glad not to follow the hype and pre-order the game this time around.

The question is, does it fail as much as your post?

I think this is like the 6th post in as many days where you're bashing on the PS3 or it's games, just because.

Hmm... It was in a Fry's ad, I guess maybe it was a release deal or because it was a "Fry's celebration sale". my bad.

As for you're second question the short answer is Gameplay. I explained the MGS reason already... What people are also not getting into their heads (like below) is that I would've really liked the PS3 and the games to work out and for me to like them, I truely gave them a chance and I truely can't say I like the PS3 or it's games so far (especially, considering what they seemed to promise).

Read above... as for everything else I'll just be ignoring you. lol

Fair enough, and considering even you admit you are in the minority, and have shown a certain lack of understanding on many of the capabilities and usable features of the PS3, both promised and deliver; and considering what examples you have used in past cases when making similar judgments; at least we now can use this to determine how much/little validity to place on your current and future opinions about anything that has to do with the PS3...

Although I assume that won't be necessary, as it would make no sense for someone who actually believes what you are saying to keep using or even owning a PS3, and thus if such a person continued to post visceral biased and often unfounded attacks on the PS3 platform, especially when they are based on such little amount of info, and often unture, then they are likely just being a troll looking to stir up trouble... and I'm sure you wouldn't want to be that kind of person.

Thanks for clearing all this up though. 👍

I dunno, I'm convinced by above and threads like GRiD that some people read what they want or assume I'm saying a certain thing than reading what I'm saying the whole time. There's so many times I'll have said something and then someone else will say it a lot later. They get all the responses like they came up with it. Whatever.

Anyway, what bothered me about this game is it got a lot of attention during development and what was suppose to be different and new but, I'm not seeing it. Things like how if they overdose or whatever on the mana (wait is that WOW? lol) then they'll turn on their teammates. The stuff that was suppose to be unique just doesn't seem as important because you're just trying to get a handle on playing or shooting. Where as a game like Gears kept it simple and did a few really good innovations that made playing the game better. Oops... sorry comparing a PS3 to a 360. :dunce:

Finally, how long has this game been in development?? I mean seriously, at least a game like MGS4 which has takin a really long time at least looks like they did something.
