Fuji turn, cheat? cheaters in general

On Fuji, the 90 degree turn at 46 mph at the end of that str8t that you have to slow way down for, i get passed there all the time by everybody...online racing i mean

but i also dont cheat, i go by the blue line pretty much and people are passing me to my right which means they are going across the grass in a big way, why arent they being penalized, is this an area where you can cheat and not be penalized...how can everybody go past me on that turn...

i am not that bad of a driver

also, cheaters, i guess you cant name names here, but i was just man handled by someone from CA where-ever that is and it was really annoying, i am tempted to name him but wont as assume against the rules

I find the track more boring than Suzuka, so I race there. :)

How do you mean cheating? Skipping a wheel or two over the inside kerb?

forgetting the jerk that ran into me several times, i mean are people just skipping the turn all together and crossing the grass, to have cars to my right they have to be doing that...

So long as you have 2 wheels on track (kerbing is part of the track) it's not cheating. I personally love Fuji racing the best, it's the only proper and normal cicuit on the game, not too tight, not too open, and it provides superb racing with friends.

The corners are four and a half miles wide! FACT!

I guess I'm just getting tired of the same.six.tracks.over.and.over.again! Roll on GT5!

Compared to a track like HSR it's not too open, as in it had proper corners and technical sections.

I prefer racing in Suzuka. And one more think, try to avoid helping line.

helping line, blue line?

you think it is slower?

i figured that, but i will be going into the corner, on the blue line and someone who i could barely see behind me a second ago is now on my right side passing me and to do that they have to be completely off the track

oh well...

I think he is referring to the racers that cut across the grass not just the curb. They cut across about 40 foot before the apex.

I would aviod trying to use the racing line. In time trails it's fine to learn the track, but I tend to advise people not to use it. People that use the line tend to stick to it and not move off it. This can lead to them bumping into cars and not giving enough space required.

multi quote???

When wanting to quote more than 1 post you use this button

oh, didnt know that, not sure why you would do it this way, unless responding to more than one person doing it with just one response

In some instances it is. Think "slow in, fast out."

Besise the Quote button there are two little speech bubbles
You can click that on every post you want to quote and then on the last one click the Quote button.
It's awesome :D

Edit: Tree'd by a mile
That teaches me for starting to type then going off to get a drink

As it says in the GTP OLR, the leader can take any line he wants even if it is not the fastest or it is inconvienient for the person behind. A person who bumps others while following someone else will bump others even if they dont have the line on. Nobody is required to give enough space for anyone else... according to the OLR.

If anything, the blue line will give another point of refrence so people dont hit each other.

As for the topic- I usually dont see this happening in Pro Fuji Events. Rather than cheating, most people just dive bomb the corner and make what is technically a legal move. But as we all know, with the stupid penalty system in GT5P the person on the outside gets a penalty and this causes a lot of frustration.

dive bomb?

i guess i need to test different ways of taking this corner, the way i do it by staying on the track isnt working

It does state that, yes. If youre in the lead and the car following doesn't have a good overlap then you can take the line you wish.

What I'm referring to is a situation like this:

Say 2 cars head up to Spoon. The car following uses the slipstream and pulls out to pass under brakes and take the inside line. The guy with the racing line on, is positioned on the outside of the track and gets drawn towards the line pointing him towards the apex. They will then squeeze the racer on the inside making the pass. This leads to contact and more often that not the racer on the outside being pushed off into the sand.

With the line switched off, you dont focus on it. I believe with it on, the outside of the track becomes a blur and you only focus on the apex and required line. You can take your own line and its actaully easier to maintain the speed and re-pass on exit if the move is not performed correctly.

I'm too late, i'm stuck to it, and I have bumped people trying to overtake. At least i'm still fast :)

just tried some time trial in pro physics, absurd...undriveable...what is the secret? do they all have that much play in the steering?

Ive seen that today too. The Guys are cutting the Corner, in the real world they would get penaltys for this.
I hope PD fixes this soon because its really unfair for the fair drivers.

the line indicator is a good starting point for sure :D

it's the same as playing the guitar. the line is like a guitar book, you learn the basics from the line/book

then you apply your personality to it, and you end up with your style 👍

yeah, i've seen this exploit by online racers! I don't use and end up getting spanked with slower lap time! haha

On Fuji there are a few place where you can cheat without being penalized. Cutting across the grass in the chicane is the most blatant one but you are also not punished if you go very wide into the runoff area after the first or the final corner. I ususally just ignore the ones who cut across the grass since I know they do it because they lack the skill to keep up if they race cleanly.

On Suzuka you can cut across the grass after the second corner but it's much less common that people do that there.

Just beat them fairly, that's the best message.

Good advice for those who can!

I managed this twice last night - once at Suzuka, I was in Fourth place dueling with someone from BE for 3rd for the whole race, what should have been an enjoable race was just a grudge match as he was 1) a sideswiper on the straight and 2) a corner cutter on two of the turns, the first was after the first turn complex and before the start of the series of S bends - he was just going straight over. This didnt help him too much actually as I was mostly right behind him when he came back onto the track. And later in the race at Degner He was just cutting the corner totally. I managed to beat him in the end but it was not good.

So, frustrated I warmed up the old GTLM and headed over to Fuji only to find everyone in the top 3 (except me) just totally ignoring the hairpin at turn 10 (Dunlop?) at the very bottom of the track.

Sooo frustrating - so is this a bug or have PD just relaxed the rules for these corners for some reason??
