They didn't.
1) The title reads "DESTROYED bath tub", all in caps. It suggests that the poster is angry about it.

2) Selling eight beyblades is not going to raise enough money to replace a bath tub. This is obviously some kind of punishment.

3) The picture shows one of the children is clearly upset about this. Probably because his toys are being sold.

So putting though three together, I'm guessing the kids were playing with their beyblades in the bath tub, which damaged it somehow. As punishment, their parents are selling the offending toys to pay for the repairs. I'm just curious as to how they might have done that, though I have no idea what beyblades are. The Wikipedia page describes them as "high-performance spinning tops", so they probably damaged the floor of the bath enough to cause a leak.

That is brilliant.

Ouch. Well those toys do have metal on them. The tips would scratch the plastic battlefields you could buy for them.

That's harsh.

Harsh? Look at the damage they caused. It's not like they did it once or twice, they obviously knew they were destroying that bathtub and did not give a damn. It's only fair if you ask me, and most likely very effective. I bet you those boys never did anything of the sort ever again.

What, taking their toys away when they get in trouble? Yeah, that never happened when I was growing up...

It's a good lesson, in any event. Teaches them to think about their actions and how those actions will affect others. A lesson too many people these days seem to forget.

Ummmm where were the parents when they were doing this. These kids are like what 8 or 10. Do they expect these children to be making responsible judgments. I know lets hand them guns or let them drive cars. They'll be responsible with them.

Exactly.

I agree as well.

No, taking their toys away is fine. It's the way their piggy banks have been emptied, their toys sold, and the promise that more will be used to pay for the damages that takes the punishment a bit too far. I suppose that when you need the money, you need the money - but I think selling the offending toys takes things far enough.

My mother works with a lady who threw her kids stuff out after he didn't clean up after himself. At least this lady is getting something useful out of this and not just throwing the offending toys away.

That kid always puts his toys away now.

Well, I'm just going by what I was taught on student discipline. If a child does something wrong in your class, you offer them the appropriate amount of discipline, and leave it at that. If they screw up in my class, then they get discipline for it. But they don't get discipline for what they did in your class. In the case of the toys above, selling the toys that damaged the bath tub is enough. Selling more toys, toys which did not do any damage, is probably taking things too far.

Anyway, back on topic.

You can only blame a parent so much. In this case, it is the children's fault. They're at the perfect age to get into mischief & not need adult supervision 24/7. They are also at an age where they should know better than do certain things.

This is the funny pic thread not the scare the crap out of your pants thread! Though funny is subjective and that's my opinion.
