That is hilarious

So, Skyrim is not worth getting because of the 'arrow to the knee' flaw?
The meme stems from a conversation that is repeated over and over again. A lot of the guards in the game world tell a very specific story: "I used to be an adventurer like you, but then I took an arrow in the knee".

Ah I always wondered what that emerged from. I though you would get shot in the knee with an arrow and be crippled or something.

Surprisingly I only heard 1 or 2 guards say it, and I'm at Level 30. But there's some jokes the guards say that is far more funnier..

It's moreso the way that the arrow-to-the-knee story is very, very specific for something that gets such a high rotation within the game. Maybe Bethesda just found it to be very funny, and so decided to make a running joke of it, or maybe it's a glitch in the game. Or maybe it's both - a glitch Bethesda found early on, and decided to work in further into the game's code because they found it funny.

Most guards in the game say the same things. I have a feeling that they give all the voice actors the same script. I'm sure I've heard guards in 3 or 4 towns say they took arrows to the knee.

Oh that's who it was. I have heard of Dane Cook, but unfortunately he suffers from Ashely Tisdale Syndrome (means you are irrelevant outside of the U.S., basically)

Funny pic anyway.

I think if I went as Kim Jong-Il next halloween, almost everyone would get it, top idea :)
Or would a group of Kim Jong-Ils be more fun for halloween?

There are many thing that get repeated over and over again in that game.

I think it's just Bethesda not putting more effort in.

That's fairly typical for stand-up comedians; many British comedians would probably find a very limited audience in the Americas, just as the Blue Collar Comedy Tour or Def Comedy Jam would likely crash and burn if it toured Europe. Most comedy works with the implicit understanding that the audience has been "in their place before", since it's a form of non-visual storytelling.

Basically, you'd either have to have a movie career to "bolster" your image as a comedian, or just be really quite good at what you do, for your schtick to work overseas, but with limited mass-appeal.

Or just do this:

^ Wow, it's been over a decade since I last used Mamma and Dogpile. I'll check out AltaVista every 2-3 years or so, for old times' sake.

Why would you do that? You don't have to say yes to all those useless taskbars. Waste of space, you'll never see that on my screen.

I use IE BTW.

Those are the people that call me complaining about how slow their computers have gotten. Ya sometimes want to just say, "Yeah, too bad, stupid hurts."
