If only it were that simple. I actually asked a very intelligent guy point blank how he can be religious and still be super smart. He actually (and I still can't believe this) explained that he compartmentalizes that part of his life, doesn't think about it the same way, doesn't approach it the same way. It's more like blinders than lack of intelligence.

The perspective also seems to prevent the mirror reflecting the shelf or any of the items on it.

I think that what we can infer is that that's a cartoon of a house with a hole in the wall with two similar dudes staring at each other pretending they're at a mirror, one of which has funny looking hair and the other of which has a mop behind him.
