Hi all,

My G25 got delivered today. At first I was really excited, I saw the quality of the wheel and pedals and was impressed.

I was less impressed by the shifter unit, the throw was way too long and and the unit seemed cheap in comparison to the wheel and pedals.

I started playing GT5 pro. spec III and thats when my smile fadded. I had high expectations for the unit. My problems are as follows:

1) The wheel was physically too small.
2) The steering inputs were not 100% calibrated correctly.
3) The force feedback was too distruptive. Even after adjustment. I found it a problem rather than a help.
4) The clutch was not always available for use.

All in all I am returning my unit. I much prefer a controller.

Wow. You're not even giving it a whole day?

The clutch doesn't work with all cars in Prologue as some of them don't allow the driver to use a clutch.

It is also primarily a PC wheel that functions, but isn't used to it's full potential, with Prologue

I'm going to buy a DFGT this week and you've now made me really nervous, maybe it wont be as good as I'm expecting it to be. But pretty much every other comment about Logitech steering wheels on this whole forum have all been praise, so unless you've experienced something better I dont see where your coming from.

Have you gone in to your options in gt5 and set it up the way you want it..?

I love my wheel, but the first day I got it I was noticeably worse than with the pad. After a few days (2 to be exact) I was much better than with the pad. All I can say is give it a week, if in that time you discover that you don't like it then by all means return it. You can't expect to be a pro after 30 minutes of use.

DFGT rules, i got one for christmas and it's good.

I got my G25 today and I'm very pleased with the wheel, the clutch works everytime, the steering inputs correctly and i've adjusted the FFB to be very accurate I feel. It's great fun for me, sure I'm way way slower then I once was on a sixaxis, but I don't care.

That says it very well. When I first got my DFGT I was so frustrated I felt asif it didnt work properly. But it was'nt the wheel it is a BIG adjustment after using pad so long. Instead of "playing" a game your driving. It is somewhat of a shock to everything you have known about the cars physics. It will take a lot of practice, adjustments to settings& the cars your using but dont give up you WILL get used to it & then you will never want to use pad again.

Controller > G25?! Lies! is GT5p the only game you've tried the G25 with? Like daan said, its primarily a PC wheel so its made best for racing simulators...

Seems like a HATEFUL guy, giving up after one day.. tsk tsk..
It's funny how people start HATE threads and never respond back.. Troll?

Hi all,

2) The steering inputs were not 100% calibrated correctly.

Example? Mine works great in GTR2 or GT5: P. I agree that the shifter could be sturdier. It still felt like a major upgrade since I went up from a DFP. I love having a discrete shifter.

hi there no trolling going on here...

What I am saying is that I think the G25 is not worth the £200 price tag. Especially when all the features don't work correctly.

I might try the Driving Force Pro, it might provide better results.

There were aspects I liked about the wheel, the materials the pedals were fab. The shifter throw was terrible thou, that was really bad.

and I tried the wheel for a whole day and I did enjoy some aspects of the drive- having more control over the breaking and accerelation and gears.

All the features work perfectly. They just don't work on the game you are playing, but that is not the wheel's fault. The G25 is a PC wheel and is never advertised as a PS2/PS3/GT wheel. The fact it is not listed as an available wheel in Prologue confirms that.

At least the DFP is designed to work with the GT series, although the pedals are rubbish compared to the G25's.

Why don't you just smash the damn thing and throw it through your window!
Much more satisfying than playing with your controller!!..

Anyway just joking..

You won't find any better than that price. Its the best deal 'simulation wheel' you can get for ps3.

I have the more pricey Fanatec Porsche 911 Turbo Wheel as well and its not as great as G25 to be honest. If you don't like the wheel size or the gears than make some effort and you can change to real steering wheel if you want to.

There are a lot of threads in this forum on how to do the mods..

£200? I payed half that just yesterday for a wheel which had only seen a couple of hours use from a friend of mine. £100 exactly, good deal imo.

bargin!for £100 its worth it. But the DFP is only 40. Has anyone got both wheels and assessed the different between the two, apart from the upgrade in materials.

If you don't like the feedback set it to simulation and feedback 10.
But beware you got to have strong hands especially if you drive an F1 car:drool:

EDIT:I have a G25 for a while now and I was wondering is it ok to connect the wheel using USB while the PS is turned on or is it better to connect everthing to your PS while it's turned off?

It does not matter what wheel you decide to go with, another logitech or even the fanatec wheels you have to PRACTICE. I too was a master with the controller in racing games (or thought I was till I went online :)), and then I got my first wheel a DFGT. I took me a good two weeks to really get comfortable with the wheel and pedal setup. I have never gone back to the controller now that I am comfortable with a wheel. Then I decided to jump in and buy a G25, now I have three really big issues to deal with:
1. Clutch (along with a brake and gas)
2. H-shifter (6 speed w/reverse)
3. New button configuration with no labels.
I am currently in the process of PRACTICING and learning with the G25 setup although I was comfortable with the DFGT. I am having "phantom" issues with the buttons since they are no longer on the steering wheel so I have to use my shifter hand to access them. Overall I enjoy the G25, the shifter is a little loose, but hey so is the 5 speed in my '97 Mustang so I feels really good to me . Remember Practice Practice Practice because you won't master any wheel overnight.

The Reason he hasn't replyed is because hes discovered how good a wheel is and he rather use it than post on GTPlanet

I just noticed the ridiculous price tag. Either you guys have it hard across the Atlantic, or justicetv is paying full MSRP.

I paid $220 in Canadian pesos after taxes from my local brick-and-mortar computer shop.

edit: I just checked local prices. They're all up to $300 now. :(

Wow they saw you comming! Have you ever heard of shopping around? A brand new G25 costs £150 from EmpireDirect.

it takes a while to get used to it!!

honestly, the controller is a joke compared to a g25 as far as making the experience realistic.

it felt weird as hell when i first got my g25, took weeks to fully get the feel for it

911 wheel > G25 > DFGT > other wheels > any controller.

1) The wheel was physically too small.

- all racing wheels are small. unless you like monster truck.

2) The steering inputs were not 100% calibrated correctly.

- how do you know? have you driven a racing car before? i think you are just not used to it.

3) The force feedback was too distruptive. Even after adjustment. I found it a problem rather than a help.

lower it. i set my wheel's feedback at only 33%.

4) The clutch was not always available for use.

dont use it. i only use clutch when i want to have drive. i use auto or touchtronic when i race. in all honesty, i dont think clutch and H shift gives the best performance.

The G25's have gone up to £279.99 on the UK Logitech website

That's more than twice the price I paid for from dell last October !!!

http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/gaming/playstation_3/wheels/devices/131&cl=gb,en

Anyway's regarding the size of the wheel, I rather prefer the size of the DFP which is 10" compared to the 11" G25. From what I can remember the DFP has stronger feedback than the G25, well with F1CE on the PS3.

I do think that GT5 can only be appreciated with a G25, it really is something everyone should try 👍
