g25 problem centering with new update

Hey guys,

So after a long while of not caring about the update, I finally decided it could be worth while. Losing my drifting rank was a bit of a nuisance, but what really got to me was how my wheel acted up. I noticed it first when it wouldn't even recognize the Logitech g25 in 2 player mode, so I tried it in single (arcade) mode and it recognized that my wheel was there. It was really strange, I could press start, control the menu with the D-Pad on the shifter, and everything, but once I chose 2 player mode, the game wouldn't acknowledge anything I was doing on the wheel, all of the buttons, gas; everything just wouldn't respond. Anyway, after a few times restarting, and finally getting it to work in 2 player mode, I noticed my steering wheel would sway left and right, almost like a metronome, from the starting line. This would only happen at a complete stop, and seemed to be less noticeable while moving. I figured, eh, oh well it's only when I'm stopped, shouldn't be a big deal, but when I started to drive, everything felt not right and different. Sure some of the driving physics may have changed, but I definitely noticed something more. I realized that my g25 can no longer stay in a perfectly centered position.
Every time I try to align it to the center, I feel something like a notch turning or a click, and it directs it about 10 degrees to the right (if I am trying to center it from the left) or 10 to the left (if centering from right). It just wont center. I've tried searching for this problem, seemed to have found someone with a similar, if not the same problem, but found no solution.

I don't understand, everything was working fine for me before the patch, aren't patches supposed to make things better? :grumpy:

Any help would be very appreciated.
I hope to get back drifting in my cockpit and back on the rankings again!

Oh yeah, and I have tried unplugging the wheel in all ways a million times. That is definitely not the solution.

Thanks guys,
Hope I can get back on the track with you soon. 👍

I have also noticed the wheel going from left to right when at a complete stop, it sometimes happens @ Fuji when you are sitting on the grid.

I just stopped my F430 on the straight @ Suz, when braking down to a complete stop and letting go of the wheel, no problem, how ever you try putting the brake on while sitting there and it starts to rock back and forth, but if you then hold the wheel it will stop rocking and you can let go and it will remain centered.

hmm unfortunately mine continues to rock if I am completely stopped no matter what I do.

Anyone else know?

Thanks for the input guys, but this kind of stuff has never happened with my wheel. I really think it is a software problem with the update. Anyone else notice the difference after the update?

I've noticed this back and forth wobbling action on the starting grid of suzuka however, when I just touch the wheel enough to stop it then let go again the wobble ceases.

*edit* - this has only started with the last update

Same here.

Alright,

I knew it was the update, bah thats driving me nuts. Doesn't it feel different to you guys? Do you guys get the notch feeling as well when trying to center?

Not sure what you mean by 'notch feeling'

The random wiggle thing is the only thing I've noticed. The cars feel different but I believe that's more related to physics changes than anything controller related.

Do you guys get the notch feeling as well when trying to center?

I'm afraid i know what you mean, it seems the FF is reversed or something at the start. Rather then centering what it did before, it's now 'difficult' because of that notch at centre and the wheel wants to sway from side to side.
Rather strange with simulation and no powersteering, it should be hard to get it to move at all!

Strange thing is, i just noticed it today, not before.
Suddenly after looking in the online manual it started this behaviour, i didn't notice it before.

The update definitely caused that swaying of the wheel when the car's at a stop. They need to make the deadzone slightly wider I guess.

Dang,

Well at least I know I am not alone..
I don't mind any physics changes, but when it becomes less real, it bugs me.
What kind of car really sways the wheel around when stopped? bah.

Think they'll ever fix it? I'm not liking the new update so much

*update* my wheel went totally ape tonight. Same deal - wiggling back and forward but much more forceful and I had to hold on to make it stop, even half way through the 1st lap I could feel it trying to wiggle then it kinda gave up.

PD - I demand you remove 'Demonic Wheel Possession Feature' Immediately! :grumpy:

alright guys, we gotta get this thing fixed! ideas? I don't know if the few of us will be able to get PD's attention. =( bah I wish it was back to normal, i dont mind physics changes, but when my wheel is not real anymore it takes a lot away from the game

I've got a DFGT and it does the same thing , also try letting go of the steering whee on a straight line at high speed I think it wiggles too , one other glitch I notcied is when you press start and you see the "enter" button dial to restart the race or continue then the in race controls come on and you have to press it again to make them go away

Prior to the most recent update, the S-3 Event used to be a good way to earn money quickly...27.500 credits in +/-2 minutes by running the first timed lap in under 0'47". I tried this the other day, and not only has the required lap time been reduced to 0'46", but the steering on my DFP has also gone haywire.

I used to let the timer run down to the 9'40" mark in order to get a good drafting sequence, but the best that I could do on the first timed lap was 0'46.104", and I was way out of position for any reasonable drafting sequence.

In addition, while waiting for the timer to run down, I now have to hold on to the DFP steering wheel, or it will just turn....hard to the right.... by itself. Something was definitely changed to the steering by the patch, as even the FFB feels odd now, despite adjustments that I've made to its strength.

Since the update? I have a logitech driving force ex (?) and it has done the wiggle around the centre point since I bought the game a few days after its release, I always thought it was because there is not even 1mm of deadzone in the wheel, try driving the F2007 in a straight line at speed and its really like having unballanced wheels on a road car.

I always just thought it was a deadzone thing that would go away when they put that into the wheel setup.

I have a DFGT and it does this in the starting grid also. It doesn't bother me as when the race starts it doesn't seem to affect me. Strange thing is, if I'm going down a straight and let go of the wheel, no wobble.

Edit: I have noticed that it only does this on paved roads. I was sitting a race out in the grass and while stopped there it doesn't wobble.

Same wiggle with my DFP! I can't stand it!
One time I didn't pay attention at the start of race and It put me right into the wall at the start of race. PD uses the DFP and DFGT(from videos) and I know they have realized this problem, fix should be coming... and physics suck now, nothing drifts properly, everything snap oversteers.

PD really screwed up on this update, now they better fix this so I can play GT5P again

Did this issue get fixed after the Expansion data 8/28/08 update? I've raced a few times ~6 at Suzuka and I haven't noticed it since the update. I definitely felt it on fuji before. Can anyone confirm?

@ StottyVVVVV Yeah I experienced it again today on the grid at Suzuka. When will they fix this?

My G25 still wriggles on the grid and I wouldn't let go of it on the straight! But no other issues with it... it's just utterly brilliant.

If i log into the game using a different profile, will the update still be in effect? I haven't touched the game since the last update that changed the physics but now it sounds like it's even worse.

Good thing i never deleted the first demo. Another question, if i buy the US version, will it have the latest update, or will i not be able to play it unless i update first?

Hi All,

I have a similar problem with a G25. When letting go of the wheel on a straight the wheel remains straight but if I give the wheel a small nudge it frantically starts to sway left and right  Is this normal ?

Thanks.
