Hey guys, wanted to get your thoughts here.

I have a G27 wheel that I got last week. Up until last night, I've only used it on GT5P. The wheel has been awesome so far and not had any issues that I have detected so far at least.

However, last night I tried out the Dirt2 demo on the PS3 with the G27....YIKES. There is so much clunking/banging/noises going on with this game, I turned it off. I was worried I was hurting the million dollar wheel. I know the G27 does make some random "clunks" etc, which is normal from what I've read, but it does it like crazy on this DIRT2 game.

Is there any one else here that has the G27 and the DIrt2 demo? If so, can you go to the first track on the demo and see if yours goes all crazy too?

(ps i should have tried a bunch of other games with the wheel before going the GT5P....with the graphics/wheel gameplay etc, its hard to play any other game other than GT5P now...lol)

Thanks that's good to hear I guess :). I wonder if that could ever break anything inside if it's making such a racket?

It also does it for me, but I think its a setting that can be changed. I think its trying to reproduce the feeling of gravel and dirt under the car, so it shakes like in real life. I saw something under wheel settings called enviromental effects, I believe, that might change it. But I agree, I haven't really been playing Dirt 2 because I'm afraid for my wheel. I don't feel like it will break it, just wear it down quicker.

yah exactly. It gives the feeling of "..this wont be good for the wheel If I play this too long"...LOL.

Oh well, I'll check out the different settings in the options menu on Dirt....IF i feel the need to pick it up again!..

I was more curious about the scary noises. Thanks a lot guys. Take it easy!

mine does the same thing in dirt 2. it's actually even worse in Supercar Challenge when running over the curbs.

just crank your surround sound louder so you drown out the noise, that's what i do. don't we have a 2 year warranty anyway?

It does that to me during the Special Condition Events in GT4. (Rally) It feels like everything is gonna fall off so for that reason I switch to the controller. :D

I would think it's normal for any wheel. The game simulates off road driving fairly effectively. Just go to the environmental effects menu and turn it down.

Yeah, on both Dirt2 and the rally races on GT4 the wheel seems pretty crazy, but to me seems pretty reasonable. If you've ever rallied a car on gravel that has stiff suspension and no interior then you will feel this in the floor pans. I guess it's just something they tried to let you still feel through the wheel. I still been playing the crap out of Dirt2. I figure I might as well put it through the hardest things I can so if there is any weak points from the factory they'll break before the year warranty is up. ;) Also, the only time I turn my wheels' feedback down is driving the F1 car on GT4. That thing feels super retarded like being in an oversized go cart.... which actually you are. :D

Does the Fanatec wheels do this on these types of games ? Or would they use a rumble moter to do that off road shaking ?

The Fanatec wheels do not make this noise or feel the same in these situations. The Fanatec wheels are belt driven so they soak up these effects and you end up not feeling much of anything. IMO Dirt 2 is much better on the G27, the main reason is that it is super quick, while the Fanatec wheels feel very heavy and slow.

From reading thats what I am starting to think.

When I first looked at that video I posted above. I thought the shaking and noise the wheel was making seemed correct for the off road feel the G27 was trying to reproduce.

PS..I do not have any wheel yet..

Just bought Dirt 2 and played it today. It did make a lot of clunky noise but that's normal for a G27. If it breaks, there's always manufacturer warranty (so glad I bought it new instead of a used one now)

did you try the wheel w/ driftmode 5? the steering is quite fast w/ the PWTS.

Not to take this too far off topic, but I bought my G27 new. Do I have to register anything to get warranty or just keep the original receipt, and If i have issues, call Logitech etc.?

just got my g27 last night first game i put in was dirt 2 could not even keep it on the track lol.same with nfs shift.anybody have the wheel settings they use for dirt 2.and i also played GTP OMFG flawless with the wheel
