How much of an improvement are the G27 pedals over the DFP/DFGT? Brake and throttle more specifically.

I wouldn't say there is a whole lot of difference in the throttle but in the brake pedal there is a significant amount of difference. The brake pedal on the DFGT feels like there is no resistance, whereas the G27 has a stiffer spring. Plus you also get the clutch and a H pattern shifter! It's win win:)

Thanks.👍 That is what I wanted to know. I figured it had to be a lot better but wanted to make sure. Also ordered Nixim mod to help some more.

They sold out yesterday. :<
My parents said they'd pay for half of the G27 after I make a good grade in my summer classes, which ended yesterday.

Oh well. Amazon still sells them for $227. Only $20 more.

Ooh I would like to know how you like that mod. Let us know that is the only thing I plan on doing to my pedals.

Sorry but I don't have the mod ;P

I don't even have a G27, yet.
Should be coming in next week. Not that I can nixim mod them anyways. I'd need to get a proper setup first.

From what I've seen on the Nixim Mod thread here, most of the people say its an amazing value for the price but you will need to hardmount. Complaints are that it shortens travel distance from 0% braking to 100%.

Yeah that's my thread :)

Nixim pedal mod thread

I created this a little while ago and would be a perfect place for your feedback. Good thing mine are hard mounted.

My G27 arrived via UPS today! I'm really impressed with the build quality of it and amazed by how much bigger it is than the DFP. I was expecting a same sized rim. Pedals feel awesome. I won't be able to hook it up until later tonight but will give first impressions then.

I ordered it yesterday, When I get it and install it I'll post my thoughts about it

Have you received any emails from them? I ordered Wednesday and have a receipt of payment from paypal but nothing from Nixim themselves.

After using my G27 for most of the day, I can say that I'm going to go without the mod for now. The pedals are just fine for my current application.

I have extremely mixed feelings right now. First the bad part, the USB cable is a good 2-3 feet shorter than my DFP cable can't reach my PS3! I had to move my couch away from the wall and the cable is still extremely taught. This is a deal breaker unless I can find a good solution and rearranging the living is not one of them.

Now the good, the wheel is amazing. It feels more precise than my DFP and it seems to be much smoother when returning to center, allowing for more precision and better corrections. I love the pedal set and I haven't even tried the clutch yet. Still getting used to actual resistance to the brake but it allows for so much more accuaracy and consistancy in braking. Just to give an example, I'm currently 15 hours and 40 minutes into a 24 hour of Le Mans race and used the DFP for the first 15 hours. Within 10 laps of using the G27 I set a new best lap by 1 second and that was with no draft. I'm pretty sure it's due to the difference in brake pedals.

Well, I love the wheel but if I can't find a solution I will have to return it unfortunately. I will look into usb extensions if such a thing exists.

They do. Would be a horrible reason to return it. Of course I play about 3 feet from the TV, so I don't have that problem. ;)

They do exist. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/searchtools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3948297&csid=_25

It would be a crappy reason to need to get rid of it, but I meant return and then look for other high end wheels that would fit my room. I'm getting an extension today though, I'm just so much damn faster with this thing already to get rid of it. It's like the brake inputs I always intended are finally happening.

sadly no, because I can't check my one EMAIL address I used.

I used paypal and after I bought it I can not get on to my one EMAIL account because it says they show "SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY ON THERE". So I have to call and see what is going on. I changed my paypal email address now :grumpy:

Love the Nixim mod...it takes some getting used to, but it feels so much more like a real brake now. I'm happy with my Fantec GT3RS and modded G25 pedals...now I either need the CS shifter to come out, or the board to use an SST Lightning and my rig will be awesome :)

You really don't know what you're missing. Short of going from a DFGT to my Fanatec, this was the best money spent on my racing rig, and for something like $30, you really can't go wrong.

Honestly I'm happy with them the way they are. The brake pedal is nice and stiff compared to my DFGT, and everything else works great. I think I'm ok for now.

Oh, and please do not double post. Use the edit button.

G27 arrived today! :D

It's heavy. 18 lbs. Wheel base is also smaller than the one from the gameshark ps3 wheel, oddly enough. Gameshark wheel was... empty. Completely empty... almost.

Pedals feel great compared to no resistance. Having a bit of trouble with brake pedal xD

UNFORTUNATELY

My desk is around 2-3mm too THICK for the wheel to mount :<

I'll need to do something about that...

@Hofstee, you could always C-Clamp a smaller board/shelf onto your desk to then give you your required thickness to clamp the wheel, of course this can and probably will ruin parts of your desk.

Just in case you didn't know the inch plastic block snaps off to clamp on a table up to two inches thick.

If someone in Albany, NY or Boston, MA area is looking for G27, I can sell them the one I bought from newegg. I have not opened it. It is still sealed in box. I am not trying to make any money. I will sell for exactly what I bought it for from newegg ($204).
