Gaining control mid break when starting race.

Is anyone else noticing that sometimes the game (depending on track/car gr. selection)
will give you control of the car (after the 3, 2 ,1, start.) during mid break of a corner.
Am I the only one who notices this and is slightly annoyed by it?

A few times it's given me control at very bad times. At least once I've ended up on the grass.
Yesterday, it gave me control of the car in the French valley, right at the crest of a left 3 turn sandwiched between cars with another car on my right. so the only choice i had was to bumber rub the front and back or slide into the grass on the left. was very annoying since it netted me lost time and i fell down 2 places.

On Nurb GP yesterday, only the front 6 places got a straight start... if you started 7th or lower, you had to manage the final turn to some extent (7th place released you with some lock on).

Not sure if those at the very back of the grid had to get through the chicane.

Yeah the starting positions on a rolling start is a real lottery. When I see my car just barely makes it out on the straight when the countdown starts I go "Yeeeehaaaaa!!" inside. :)

I got lucky once, it gave me control right after a turn once and all I had to do was power out. was perfect, an easy 2 spot jump.

Well... This is problem in all rolling starts not only in GT Sport. In Project Cars 2 with big grids it also gives you control on turns and/or mid brake on certain tracks. That's the nature and downside of "rolling starts" i guess...

I checked on PC2 and I can agree with that statement.

If you use a manual outlap (before the start) in Pcars 2 then you have control of your car from start (of the outlap) to the finish I I recall. So its not exactly the same.

Definitely yes. I was referring to the same "rolling starts" settings in PC2 with auto drive.

With manual formation lap the problem is gone, but on some tracks it can be quite lengthy... Try formation lap on Nurburgring Endurance variant :D

I'll definitely try this! thanks everyone :)

They did although I was a touch past it when I got control most of the time. Also someone in front of me was given control right in the middle of the final turn and proceeded to crash into the inside barrier and I couldn't avoid him, that was a good way to start.

Alsace village has some problems with this too.
I was starting P5 I think, and P6 had some of the downhill coming towards the start finish, which ended up giving him a good run right off the gate and he was level with me going into turn 1.
So right off the bat even though I qualified P5, I was in P6 after turn 1.

Usually a few people are going to get the start tone in a less than ideal location. Just pretend you are driving during the auto drive section, using all of your normal steering and throttle/brake inputs. Then you won't be caught off guard if it starts you in the middle of a turn.

When I see the countdown start mid corner I have started holding at about a quarter throttle which seems to give you a gentle start. For awhile I was using no throttle and then trying to roll into it but you can lose a few positions that way. Still better than going off though.

Edit: I also steer during auto drive as if I am driving the car so that when the control is handed over hopefully my wheel is in nearly the correct position.

The daft thing is I used to instinctively "drive" the car when in auto-drive at the start and pit entry/exit, and I taught myself not to do it because in GT6 pointing straight and foot to the floor was always the best method. Now I've got to unlearn it again.
