All I hear is "WAH WAH WAH I CAN'T HANDLE A REAL MAN'S GAME LIKE NERF"
Are you actually talking about the foam rubber darts shot out by a hand-pumped plastic gun marketed for ages 5-12?

I don't know a lot about Airsoft and haven't used anything outside of paintballs, Lazer Tag, and actual metal BBs when I was younger, but one thing I do know is that the Nerf I am thinking of is far from a real man's game. The only thing Nerf I own is a football.

If you are talking about something different then please give us a link, image, video, or something to show us what it is.

Yes, I'm talking about the rubber tipped foam darts. Shot out of heavily modified or totally custom guns. Powerful enough to break skin, leave welts for a week, etc.

@Yoda: Like I've said, I'm chicken. The gun is a gift, I'm going to play around with it a bit, but I don't really have the time to do all that stuff...

If you're implying that you've ever caused a glass bottle to break by shooting it with an airsoft gun, I call bull****. I have a .177 pellet rifle that fires just over 1,000fps and it won't bust a glass beer bottle at anything other than point blank.

450fps? Too dangerous? Are you serious? For who, toddlers? You guys can even FEEL those things hit at 450fps?

That probably answers the question. We're using .20-.25 g pellets, and these new electric rifles are a little more air-tight than the older guns.

This was at thirty feet or so, in the dark. But of course, this is my cousin's gun. I only wish my gun were this strong.

(hope you can see the pic)... one thing to note here is that electric pellet rifles have a pretty good rate of fire, so you can pour about a hundred BBs into the bottle in a minute or so.

If I ever get around to it, I'm having my gun rebuilt so it can do this. Then I'm going rat hunting.

I've seen videos of people blowing beercans, and that's hilarious... pretty pathetic compared to what we do when we get drunk...

Hard to believe you've got a gun at over 1000 fps... What kind is it?

So, you aren't using the same guns that you can buy at a toy store then?

See that would be the difference. Properly powered anything can become deadly, but the little hand-pump powered guns that you buy at a store is not enough to do that.

I think people use a form of pellet or BB gun instead because you can get the deadliness without nearly as much work.

I knew some guys in college who used frozen paintballs. Occasionally one of them would come out looking like he was in Fight Club.

Even if you don't freeze them, they can leave nasty welts if your game buddies turn the pressure up too high.

I've heard of concussions before from frozen ones.

But yeah, I have seen some nasty welts and even heard a radio DJ talking about how he couldn't walk straight because of a point blank shot to the lower back.

There's a lesson in there... don't play with soldier boys. My cousin was Air Force reserve (was, he's now serving in Iraq), and he used to play with ex-Marines. Those guys don't understand pain, and they're ruthless. They will shoot you point blank.

This si why I prefer Lazer Tag. It doesn't hurt and you don't get accused of taking a hit if it happens to splatter on you from a near miss. Plus, it is great to hit a guy around a corner by using the occasionally placed mirrors. He is standing there looking around trying to find who shot him and I'm already long gone.

Although when I was younger and had braces on I had a brace knocked loose because a guy came around the corner and threw an elbow at my face to try and knock my aim off. I guess it can be a contact sport.
