Hey all, I gotta say GT is great for simulating how I'll like to drive and not killing my self but I got to go to Malibu Grand Prix yesterday.  :mischievous: It's the closest thing I can get to Skip barber w/o having to pay $500.

Anyways, just something I had to say. My real question is do you think drifting can also hurt peoples skills as much as it might help? I think it does both because I've got a really good sense of the cars capabilities but then if I actually had to drive the right way I can't or don't want to because I'm too busy trying to get oversteel going.

Examples are at malibu I couldn't get under 58. At malibu I pretty much knew that I wasn't gonna do to well in time department. For most of the time I was squealing the tires and getting sideways a little. In GT3 I didn't care about racing others, more about seeing the apex as I went around the curves. Thanks

Well I got the question, hurt as much as help, but nothing else. heres my answer:
I suppose it could. Its not too likely, because drifting is what I normally do, 90% of the time, but I can still turn up 1'13's and 1'14's on Laguna, and 57 seconds on Deep forest. Drifting has helped me to much to explain. Its helped my learn how to get my car straight again, if I'm every in a situation where its sideways, and I need to get straight again, it helps. It helped me with my throttle control. Before I was either at 100% or 0% throttle, it helped me relize theres 50% and 30% etc. And how can drifting hurt you? Its great fun!! You can't have a better time in GT3 than drifting. :D

The only way it can hurt, is if you're an idiot and can't control your car. Just becuase you CAN get a car sideways, doesn't mean you'll always do it no matter what.

Well I ment also in real life not just GT. If you are grip driving you shouldn't have to worry about recovering from get sideways (unless you are in a battle or avoiding someone that kind of thing) because grip driving your know when to slow down for the turn and go though it being efficient and not losing time. thanks

Yeah, you always have to worry about it. If you're a grip driver your car is always at its limit, and it could spin out anytime, so they have to know how to recover.

I race and drift so I really don't think drifting hurts my racing skills. I'd say it's probably done more to help my racing skills than anything. When I try a race after I've done nothing but drifting for a while, it usually takes me a few laps to get back into a racing mindset, but other than that I don't think it's hurt my racing skills at all.
