The Chevrolet Corvette was originally shown as a show car in 1953 and generated enough public interest for it to be built. A 6-cylinder engine was available for only 3 years, being the only option for the first 2. For the rest of its life it has featured a V8 in numerous sizes and configurations, and has become a legitimate inexpensive sports car. It has been produced for 7 generations so far, and is one of the longest running model names in automotive history. Which of these boulevard cruisers is your favorite?

I vote the C7, It's the first Corvette that made everyone start taking the brand seriously. It's able to match European exotics at the fraction of the price.

The improvement of the design and build quality over the previous corvettes is truly remarkable. It also sounds the best too.

This is a pretty tough decision, my choice today is '04 C5 ZO6 in Navy(Le Mans) Blue Metallic.

Not going to vote just yet though.

Despite having owned a C4, I voted C2 after my experience driving a 67 427 Roadster. That's really a man's car. Brutal!

Love the shape of early C1s, even though they're the least performance-orientated of all Corvettes. Not keen on later twin-headlight C1s, but earlier ones just ooze 1950s cool.

I voted C4 simply because I like its shape the most. That, and the fact that they're by far the cheapest ones to buy second hand, so I would be far more likely to afford one over, say, a C1 or C2.

The C2 is one of my all-time favorite cars so it's pretty easy to vote for it.

My rankings for the rest:

2: C6
3: C3
4: C1
5: C7
6: C4 (This gen has finally grown on me)
7: C5 (Even though I'm not a fan of the C5, it's impressive compared to everything else GM did during this era)

Love the C5, looks better than any of the Vette's than came after it (although the C7 comes close) and IMO was a great improvement over the C4. Plus the racing C5.R kickstarted Corvette Racing's extremely successful motorsports career, winning it's class in 2001, 2002 and 2004.

Torn between the later C1 (1958-1962) and the C2. There's just something about the C1 with those dual headlamps that makes them look so classy.

The C2 split window is just as nice too, though. I'm torn. Probably will go with the C1. C2 not far behind at all, though. Very close and tough decision.

I like pretty much all Corvettes, they're all cool in their own right but the C7 takes the cake. It's the most performance orientated and the least tacky, but most people would dispute this.

Have to give a slight nod to the C2 (I'll take mine as a '63 coupe with a 427 please), but the C7 is a close second, as it finally dragged the Corvette kicking and screaming to a level of refinement and quality it had been sorely lacking for way too long.

The early C1 is just plain dumpy. The later C1, along with the 57' Bel Air, have become the de facto US classic car and is far too ubiquitous to be interesting. The C2, C3 and ZR1 C4 are the cool ones with the C3 perhaps my favourite of the lot. Those curves and cab-back design do it for me. I blame my old Matchbox Powertrack/Speedtrack(US) Greenwood Corvette for that.

C3 will always be the vette for me, I do love the old split windows though and the new ones look mean. C2 and C1 are the sexy older sisters but the C3 stole my heart many years ago.

For me, the C2 wins by a mile. During it's time, there was nothing that could compare to it, on the American market. C2 possessed the beauty and grace of the C1, but it became a sportier car and drove better. The '63 Split Window is truly a work of art, and will forever live on as a classic.

Despite the fact that the C2 wasn't nearly as fast and muscular as the succeeding generations, it is the most beautiful Corvette visually, and arguably the most unique.

Had to go with the C3. I simply adore the lines of that car, and I know that for the most part it gets a hard time for the drivetrain options I think were available, but its a gorgeous, muscular looking car.

The C3 gets it for me. I love the body styling of that car, and I was able to drive one ~200 yards at work once, and it felt pretty special to me (then again, some of the "coolest" cars I've driven at work are a Miata and a Saab 9-3).
