God of War: Ascension

I think they've made a mistake in that trailer. When Kratos kisses his daughter, he has the white skin and red mark on his body. He only aquired that after he killed both his daughter and wife. Surely they couldn't have forgotten that? :scared:

Wow good eye, i dont remeber if he had the red marks or not by that time, but he did not have the white skin.

God of War Melee? Sounds interesting though it just seems like a really prettied-up party game if the main focus is multiplayer brawl. It'd be nice to see how this game plays out in a 1 on 1 tournament, but I really doubt it won't take long for people to figure out the best choice of weapons and magic.

 does anyone have a mop?

This seriously has the making to be the best GoW ever made, and it also looks like it can be game of the year.

I refuse to watch the video for the first 30 minutes of the story reveal. I just can't spoil it on myself.

On another note; Ascension releases exactly a month from today! :dopey:

I agree with you, i tried not to watch it but i caved in, It is extremely good and that you better have pre-ordered it so you can play it as fast as possible.

I love gow games. I first played them on ps2.

Usually im a big racing fan and love racing games but GOW...
I mean i wasnt so sure if i wanted to play gow back then.. i saw everyone gave tha game a 9/10 and all say its excelent and i read so manny reviews and then i buyed it.

I will buy Ascension sometime in 2014, cuz im not so hot for the new game right now and it will be 75% off price then it will be now.
I have Gow collection volume 1 (gow1,2) and gow3 for ps3.

Gow 1,2,3 are the best games i every played. Just the stories are fantastic.
But i hope in future they will foucus more on story than MP. Just because of the stories makes the game best for me.

Less than a week to go! I've been waiting patiently for this for so long now. I'm just praying that the story is still as fascinating as it usually is, and that they haven't put all of the emphasis on multiplayer.

Ordered earlier and should receive tomorrow or Thursday. Will post impressions later.

Me too, I don't think I'll get my copy until Friday though, (UK Release). I'll stay out of this thread for the next couple of days to avoid the spoilers. :P

Just picked up my copy! Although, I haven't popped it in yet.

I haven't played any of the GOW games, my brother got this 3 days ago. Would it be ok to play it before 1,2 and 3? Since it's a prequel

Cannot comment on that but dont forget to add in the psp titles as well. They fit between the main games and are available on disc or dl for.ps3.

...Couldn't resist! :guilty:

Even though it's a prequel, I wouldn't recommend playing it before the other three, (main story games), as you might not know what's going on. The other three do a great job of explaining his past to you and why Kratos is why he is, now. I can't be totally certain as I haven't even played Ascension yet, but I think you will be expected to have played the others before-hand as this one probably won't go into such lengthy detail about the main story.

Caz. 👍
The other two games, Chains of Olympus and Ghost of Sparta are also worth playing, even though they are not directly related to the main story.

I'm really enjoying it so far. At chapter 8 The Cistern so not very far into it yet. Nothing drastically different from the previous games but that's a good thing. Fights on a grand scale, some pretty cool death animations, and an interesting environment. I feel like there isn't much of a story at this point but that doesn't bother me. GOW games are just good indulgent fun. I do like how the Blades of Chaos are the only true weapons and then you can pick up extra weapons for a limited number of uses. At this point it's a game I definitely recommend.

Well it took me a while to finally get started on this after such a busy weekend and barely any free time over the past couple of days. But here we are, I managed to get in just under an hours worth tonight, of the new, God of War.

First impressions are great. The quality is superb whilst playing and there's no framerate issues to interfere with whilst playing. The environment you start off in is vast, on a scale I can't say I've seen on any of the previous games, apart from when you're fighting Kronos the Titan, in God of War III. Visually fantastic.

I've only just finished Chapter Four, (I think?). There doesn't seem to be any specific change of chapters whilst progressing through the game, unless that's yet to come further on. Something I'm not quite fond of is there's no save points, as in earlier titles. There only seems to be Auto-Save, which granted, does save on a regular basis, but I'd rather be able to stop and continue playing at a point I'm happy with. I was worried about quiting, incase I ended up further back than when I stopped, by I re-loaded and it was fine.

I'm yet to aquire any special items from chests, like - Gorgon Eyes, Phoenix Feathers, etc. They've made a return though, so I'm glad about that. Same with Red Orbs, you still use these to power up your weapons, and you also open the chests in a cool new way. :P

The gameplay is still good old, Kratos Destroys Everything, gameplay, which I'm happy about. I was anticipating the style you play in to have changed drastically, but it hasn't so I'm quite pleased. Trophies also seem to be relatively easy to collect and mainly story related, like before.

There doesn't appear to be any kind of accurate story line as of yet, as Mcfizzle mentioned above. Everything so far seems to be going down the route of newly introduced characters, called The Furies, and Kratos' past. I'm enjoying it though, I was engaged in the action for the first hour of playing and I'm quite excited about going back to play more tomorrow.

I haven't played Multi-player yet, so no input on that from me I'm afraid.

I've played a bit more over the past couple of days and I'm now on Chapter 13, but this is where I've started to have bugs appear on me.

*Spoiler Alert*

At the beginning of Chapter 13, right after you aquire the Amulate that allows you to heal and decay certain structures within the world, aswell as decayed chests, my screen doesn't seem to change. When I aquired it for the first time, everything was fine and I could talk to the Oracle and then progressed to the beginning of Chapter 14, The Cistern.

As soon as this chapter began, however, once I had passed a certain point, the screen wouldn't change area. So I was stuck looking at the same place. I had even moved into a new area and was unable to get back out as I couldn't see where I was going. I died as some enemies were attacking me, great.

I restarted the chapter, but this didn't work as it re-loaded from where I was stuck. I then restarted from the Chapter before, but then my screen had frozen as soon as that started. By this point I was fed up and running out of things to try. I tried quiting the game and going back on but to no luck. I don't know what to do. Here's an example:

It seems many other people have been having this same problem and restarting the checkpoint has worked for them, but not me. Anybody here suffered from this and managed to fix it?

Other than this nuisance, everything has been spot on so far and it's turning out to be a lot more of a challenge than the previous games, especially trying to figure certain things out when progressing. 👍

So I pre-ordered the game (from Gamestop) and got it shipped. However, I haven't gotten my DLC codes for the game (either in email form nor on a receipt of some kind or any sort of voucher). Anyone else having this issue?

Edit: Found someone with the same problem
