I have set up another thread for negative based race experiences elsewhere in an attempt to reduce duplication of identical threads and thus make the site easier to follow.

This is the positive version of the same i.e posting videos of great battles, praising peoples driving standards etc.

Hopefully if they are successful they will become a sticky topic

I've had some great races in sport mode. Once I've gotten into sportsmanship S races, the standard is a lot higher. I've had some good races when in A and B also, but they usually involve a lot more contact.

This is easily the best online racing game I have played when you do get a good race. I had one where all 12 cars qualified within 1 second of each other and all tried to race fair. To say it was exciting is an understatement, it was brilliant.

I just had one, at the Nurburgring 24hr. Qualified 3rd chased down the guy in second who then made a mistake allowing me into 2nd and to chase down 1st place who I felt I was faster than.

Then I make a mistake on the start of the full ring allowing the guy behind to move past. We then followed closely for the first major section of the ring until he made a mistake on the 1st gear downhill hairpin.

I managed to build a gap and shave of a few seconds off the leader. He then made an error at the Carrousel allowing me to be on his rear bumper. We followed like that for he remainder of the lap until the very last banked corner before the back straight, I missed my breaking point went slightly deep and my rear right tyre touched the grass sending me spinning. Luckily I didn’t collect the leader and was too far ahead of 3rd.

I recovered but had lost 8 seconds to the leader. Managed to get it back down the 7 seconds before we merged onto the ring doe he final lap, but he managed to gap me in the first section to bring to gap to 8-9 seconds. The guy in 3rd then started to close in on me. He got within a second and a half throughout the lap while I fell back from the leader to about 10seconds.

I managed to maintain the gap to 3rd but the leader was far faster than me.

It was a good fair race, I’m always worried about turn 1 at the Nurburgring GP track, but everyone kept it clean and it was a race of pressure more than anything else

Had tons of good races but usually the best ones are the top splits when there is a full grid of A/S and S/S drivers with a couple of top10 regulars and there is only 2 seconds apart from 1st to 20th. I call it racing aliens.

That first video was brilliant some really hard good racing, you put together a great race. Though I do think that that track is actually really hard to overtake on, which is a shame I think if you’d had some opportunities it could have been more exciting haha

Looking forward to watching the second video!

@Shottah072, thanks for sharing those videos. I had no idea you fast guys were using so much trail braking and downshifting while still braking/turning. Blows my mind... You guys are so much faster into every turn... If I were on track with you guys, I'm betting you'd run into me... you would never expect my breaking point...
Thanks again for sharing.
I'll have to see if I have the ability to make that work for me... doubt it, but will be fun trying

Greetings all! Had my first venture into the Sport mode today, and must say it was great, overall. Clean racing, no major contacts. The game is really intense, but fun, going by the daily races. First race for me was the one-make, which I did a hat trick in (pole position, fastest lap and win). The Gr.4 race in Suzuka was fun too. Qualified 5th and finished the race on 3rd. Now the Nürburgring Gr.3 race... Oh boy, was it intense! Close raceing throughout the first lap, where I managed to get up a place from the 3rd place I had qualified. Then made a mistake on the second lap, which cost me alot, netting me a 9sec penalty as well, as I had spun on a narrow corner. Still, finished 4th as others made mistakes too. Not the winner though... He was super fast. Qualified 20+ seconds ahead of everyone else and won by a lot.. By the time I reached the GP course straight, the race ended.

Anyways, sorry for the lengthy post! Quite enjoying the online racing so far!

As I told you yesterday:
GTPlanet has no upper limit on the number of threads that it can host. There is simply no need to shoehorn all comments of one type into a single location.
If someone has a good experience online, they can post a thread about it. Or they can post in an existing thread about it. We don't mind. We do mind members telling other people not to post threads about it and where they can and can't make posts about it.

And for that reason alone, this:

Hopefully if they are successful they will become a sticky topic
... is never going to happen.

Also there's a certain irony to the fact that a user who is determined to dictate where people post about their online experiences to reduce duplication of threads hasn't noticed that there's already a well-developed thread that covers this particular topic.

Ironically you have essentially proved my point by pointing out that there was an existing similar thread and yet it was not easilly visible to locate.

Incidentally there have been over 25+ users of your site that agreed to my initial comment that they are tired of the endless complaining on multiple threads so is it an unreasonable point to simply ask they are merged into one place or as a sticky?

By all means say no or say you cant but your responses seem somewhat aggressive to what was simply feedback.

@baldgye

Thanks ! Yeah overtaking on Kyoto is quite hard. Even though there are numerous corners where it is possible you really need a good run on them or wait for them to make a mistake. These guys dont make many mistakes and know how to defend and drive a very fast pace so it gets real hard. Also you dont want to go side by side for to long as the guys behind would have caught us very fast. Most corners on Kyoto good exit speed is crucial, when you dont get that because of battling the guys behind will catch up after few corners already.

@cleanLX haha thanks still plenty of guys who are faster then me though. But yeah trailbraking is very important. It's all about using the weight of the car. Trailbrake on entry on entry to keep the weight pressing on the front wheels for more grip on turn in, as soon as you have done most of the turning gently release brake and start aplly throttle to smoothly shift the weight to back wheels for better rear traction. The weight transition from front to center to back needs to be smooth to not upset the car and extract maximun traction from tires.

@novcze
Yeah good race. Looked as if that IO guy defended a bit hard at some points but you handled it beautiful.

25/250,000. Even if this were a democracy, and it's not, that's 1% of 1% of GTP members. I would assume those 25 people (where does this number come from?) can also choose to ignore things they don't like or challenge them...same as the rest of us.

It was merely a suggestion. We live in a world of feedback. This was my feedback.

In my opinion it is easier to read threads about good races or racecraft or issues people are having about people deliberately taking them out if the information was all in one thread to read.

Its also easier for people to learn good racecraft and what expectations people expect from others if the information is contained together.

I dont really see what the big issue is.

Like i pointed out several times politely (but kept being deleted) autosport forum do this to make the forum more user friendly so its hardly a controversial concept and certainly not an idea i came up with myself.

I should probably separate this post into 8 posts as I had 8 good races today, everyone around me was showing maturity, made some nice passes.

Nurb 24hr GT3 tyre wear on in the daily woohoo dream come true.

1 pole (not converted), 2 fastest laps, 1 win (from 3rd)

Only thing I’ll say, replays only work from cockpit or onboard cameras haha! The replay camera nonsense is garbage, watching that second race I couldn’t figure out why you where making and/or loosing ground :P

Haha true. But i love me a nice looking tv replay as well. I save allot of races and spend nearly as much time watching them from all angles as i do actual racing lol :P

Just a quick clip over the back of the Nordschleife from the GR3 daily. Have had some excellent racing there. Just running close when everyone is pushing can be some of the most intense and exciting racing you can have! I love the experience that GT Sport throws up in Sport mode.

O man i am actually quite bummed i cant drive the Nurb today. The brake spring in my pedals broke in half this week and i am waiting for a replacement spring. :banghead:

Had some thought provoking races against some friendly aliens in a FUN nurb lobby today, they shared car tips and a setup to try and get me closer to them, I failed of course, but it was a nice experience and gave me something to think about.
While I didn't get to 'race' them, it was a learning experience, so I put it in the good race box.

Just had another great race I managed to **** up all by myself!! :banghead:

Was kinda expending starting 11th at brands to be a bit of a mess but managed to work my way upto p6, with some really good dope to door battling, only for me to then drive off the road when the auto gearbox didn’t downshift twice and it threw me... :banghead::banghead:

Ahh well!!

Tho I seems all the progress I’ve made was reset when the game crashed before the prior race started...🤬

Do you race with cockpit view?

I only had a chance to do the Daily race A yesterday, passing around that oval is really hard with the TT Cup as it really needs the outside line to maintain good speed. However I had a chance to race with a great sportsman who got a little too low at the start finish and I got level with him on the outside, we both held a high outside line around turn 1 inches from each other and I managed to come out on top.

It makes me happy when 2 drivers can have a tight contested race without any contact, even if it was on a simple little oval.

Yes always in cockpit view in every game.
Do you find it hard to race in a pack?
I've tried cockpit view, and I would love to use it more often, but I find the view limiting - my lap times sometimes cover my rear view mirror, and I don't have the greatest situational awareness. I seem to be a safer driver in bumper - but I handle the oversteer of a car much better in cockpit for some reason.
