I've recently changed the colours and slightly redesigned other parts on my Gran Turismo website, so it would be really great if you could take a look and let me know your honest opinions on how it looks, how quick it takes to download etc...

http://gtsc.netfirms.com/index.htm

I am doing this because this site was designed wholely by me, whereas previous designs were templates from places like www.freewebtemplates.com, so i just want to know what you think of my (not-too-good) webdesign skills.

I made the logo in Ulead's Photo Express 3.0.
The site was designed using tables etc in Frontpage Express. (i don't know very much HTML Code at all)
All pics on the site were taken by me with our very poor quality digital camera.
And most of the information on the site was written by me, apart from the GT4 game ideas, GT3 car list, GT3 Prize car list, and GT4 info, but i have modified some things not written by me.

(Anyone know of a complete list of all the cars in the PAL version of GT3?)

And to the Mods & Admins; if this is in the wrong forum, could you please wait for about three days until you move it?

Pretty good! 👍

The design is a little bit busy, and, to be honest, web design favors white-background websites these days.

Try using CSS for specifications on fonts, link colors, etc... the days of using the font tag are close to gone.

Also, the navigational bar needs some work to make it easier to use... a small step would be to consider only making the white "titles" bold, and making the actual links regular weight and without underlines (you do that by specifying text-decoration=none in your CSS), and instead of putting the double colons to the right, putting them to the left might be better, since that'll further offset the links from the titles.

Very good job though. ;)

(You should also consider buying Dreamweaver MX, or, even better yet, Studio MX... makes life a lot easier)

[edit]: One more thing... consider increasing the cellpadding value for your tables. The text is awfully close to the edges.

I'll try some of things in Frontpage and see how it looks.

What's the difference between tables and CSS?

Well, you can't really compare tables and CSS... ;)

CSS is a whole 'nuther realm of web design, fully named Cascading Style Sheets. The neat thing about CSS is that you can make one CSS document, then, in the head of each of your webpages, you put a relative link in there to the CSS. By doing so, you've centralized all of your design in that one document. So, for example, if you decide that you want all of your text to be blue instead of black, all you do is change it in that one CSS document, and it'll automatically change all of your webpages that are linked to it. This way, you don't have to go to each individual page to make the changes (which was especially painful for those who don't use WYSIWYG-interface programs... I was once in that situation).

Ironically, you can also use CSS for positioning elements in a website instead of tables, but so far, browser support for that isn't all too great. For the most part, people usually just use CSS for design, not for structure, though the plan is to eventually use CSS primarily for structure instead of tables (or so I've heard).

Anyway, you're *eventually* going to have to move to CSS... the W3C has stated that the font tag is on its way to being deprecated, which means that sometime in the future, browsers won't be able to render them. CSS has made it much easier to design webpages... I can personally attest to that.

You can find out more about CSS on the W3School's CSS tutorial page. :)

Anyone else?

All you have to do is click the link, look at the page and just say what you think!

Site looks good, it seems the whole frame of the site is becoming pretty popular. On my website, I have a basic table, sometimes I have a <TR><TD COLSPAN="2"></TD></TR> to have a banner or something, but it looks good. Oh, and have you tried using a .js file for your nav bar? They work pretty nice, I've been doing that for a few months now, and it saves a LOT of time because you don't have to edit every page to add or change a URL. All you have to do is edit the .js file and upload it onto your server again. I'll take a look at the template site now, thanks for the URL

Nope, haven't tried that. :/
I've updated it a bit and done a couple of this you suggested youth_cycler. :)

Yeah i know. I was going to go searching for one somewhere. :)

Is your's the PAL or NTSC list?

NTSC version. The outputs are listed in horsepower and the weight in pounds.

Sorry for my delayed responses.

It should cover all cars in GT2, no matter what version. Honda Integras and NSXs are treated differently than Japanese-spec 'Tegs and NSXs. There are also PAL versions of Peugeots and Nissans, but they are the same cars/bodies/specs except for very similar racing modifications in some cases (Esso instead of Exxon, for example.)

But the car names are largely the NTSC variety (Daihatsu Storia, not Sirion, for example; Toyota Vitz, not Yaris). Outputs in Horsepower, and weight in Pounds. I'm not sure if an easy conversion factor "x" might change all figures for your needs, but who knows, that maybe the case.
